Ok, the math at the beginning was a life changer for me. Seriously. I don’t remember ever learning this kind of thing on shop class. We weren’t building six sided night lights either. 😂 but thanks! I know, sounds dumb, but this is why I love RU-vid. You can learn and find out the answer to anything you need and sometimes learn something you never thought about before. Beautiful project too! Subscribing!

You are a bad ass girl. I really like the fact that your youtube channel is about doing productive things and not just stupid talk like the majority of RU-vid Chanel's with young people. God bless.

Looks awesome! Another variation on this might be to add rotation - either to the "globe" inside or to the whole lamp to make the "stars" move across the room (much as you were doing manually in your demos).

Awesome lamp, I think I want to make a similar one, that has a Thomas the Train wrapped around the lamp shade. Probably a circular lamp shade instead. But what a neat idea, something I can put in my kid's room ! Thanks!

That’s a lovely Lamp project. How about adding a free spinning fan to the top of the light tower, with different coloured strips of acetate hanging down? The heat from the LED lamps would slowly turn the fan and give a shimmering effect. Combine that with colour changing LEDs to really add that magical sparkle! I need to go and lie down!

Nice project! You could use one cylindrical wood in the middle, so you can wrap around one long piece of led light, this i think would be more easy and minimize connections.
@UrbanPanic
@UrbanPanic 8 лет назад

I was thinking that if you use a piece of large doweling and wrap the LED strip in a climbing spiral around the dowel, you won't have to chisel out a square opening, and it will reduce the soldering required, since the LEDs will be one continuous strip. Adding a dimmer would make this even cooler. Also, kudos for having the patience to create a pleasingly 'random' pattern of holes! Thanks for the video.

Super cool idea. Would also be awesome to use this sort of idea as a chandelier. Could build a few of the and hang them best each other at different heights to give a really cool effect. Or even do this around the trim of a bed, would be super awesome at night, and would be an awesome night light that you could put on a timer to run from dusk until like 1am, and then to be back on when you wake up for a bit until the sun comes up.

I really like your creativity. I find it inspiring much like I find your shop inspiring, I really want a better setup so that I can pursue my own artistic impulses. One thing, I know that you say you have never had any trouble with these LEDs, as long as there is enough airflow, BUT there is no way to provide airflow to the back side of those LED strips and it will shorten their life span rather significantly. It really is a good idea to attempt to apply them to a heat-sink structure of some kind, whenever possible. They won't always fry, straight out, but you will generally notice a loss of luster over time as they are slowly damaged by the heat energy that they produce. Just a thought. Subscribed!
