You have inspired me to troubleshoot and repair a VISIO 39" TV that was completely dead. Power supply tested good, following your guidance in checking it. I found an inexpensive main board on Amazon, used but good. Ordered it, installed it and turned on a TV I was just about to set on the curb. Thanks for your clear and in depth instructions.

Cannot say enough about this video. Followed along (because I have the same set) and it ended up being the T-Con board. It was a bit of hard find on the replacement, but prevailed and have a working TV now. Thank you !

i fixed mine lg 47sl80 ccfl backlight :) i had to replace the main power supply board which i managed to find for 38€ with postal fee :) then i heard a sparking sound from a display and had to take it apart to find that at the end of one tube, there was some arcing going on... i remade the insulation under the spot where it was arcing and rolled all the tubes to revive the connections, clean all the dust and smudge out and put it back together, which was even harder then taking it apart... and it works :) thank you man! i saw most of your vids :) you helped me a lot! regards from sLOVEnia!

I really enjoy learning from your videos. Sadly we are such a throwaway society anymore that when a TV has issues people just toss them and buy new when they probably could be repaired for nominal $$. Narrowed it down to the PS by isolating it and was still blowing fuses. Figured I would just grab the board rather than troubleshoot parts because I just don't have the time right now. Ordered the board and took a while but they upped it to USPS priority and made it here. Put the PS in and works perfect! This was the perfect curb find! I highly recommend them and give them a little time because it may come from a different warehouse. Thanks!

just got back to atlanta from visiting with family in tampa a couple of days ago. a few hours ago, i was searching for how to run speaker wire through studs since i was wanting to put some in wall speakers in my kitchen and stumbled across your video on a flex drill bit. now, a few hours later, i was looking for how to replace/repair the main board of my jvc jle42bc3001 and again have come across one of your videos. not sure what the universe is trying to tell me but i'm listening!

I love your videos on electronic troubleshooting & repairs. I am now shopping for a decent Fluke multimeter so I too can follow along & revive TV's. I have a Visio E60-E3 that I took apart to repair a sag in the very front screen layer due to some broken parts on the bezel. After repairing the bezel now the TV will not present the brand logo or anything on the screen. When I hit the power the backlight comes on with no indicator light, then the indicator light flashes once as the screen goes black before starting this cycle of backlight on/one indicator flash/black screen rinse & repeat. Got any guesses as to which board to replace while I look for a multimeter?

@@TampaTec Hey, i watch your videos all the time. Youve helped out in so many way and i appreciate it. Thank you. However im stuck with one project im working on. Its a hisense 46 inch (46k360mn) when i plug the tv in the standby light turn on and turns off. The power board runs a little loud when the main board is plugged into it ( normal when unplugged). I have checked the values running off the power board and theyre all correct. Standby light is at 5 as well. I replaced a couple componets on the mainboard because they were low in value now they are normal. There has to be a bad component in the main board still right? After the fixes ive done on the main board the power board still runs loud. What suggestions do you have that i should check? Its a short somewhere right? Thank you. One of your subscribers

You seem well versed & I am sure that you could definitely assist me & my tv! I have a 55" Vizio model m550vse a few days earlier, I turned off the front indictor light to conserve bulb life & a few days later, I turn on the tv & the screen lights up momentarily & then, Goes black. It has audio! Every time that I turn it on, The screen lights up just for a second or two & goes black! I tried the flashlight trick & I see nothing! Which board do you recommend replacing?

Quick question - love your detailed videos by the way. If the TV screen turns on for a while then goes off in less than 1/2 second could this be the T-Con board or the LCS backlight circuit?

i was inspecting and testing various points on the BN94-04689A board and when I did the same to the BN94-04689B I noticed the A board has an extra small switch soldered on and because it is a mechanical type very small button. do you happen to know that the differences are?

Hey there! Thanks for the great videos! I have a Sceptre X40 with no power, no picture, no lights, no sound. The screen flashed off, red power light stayed on, then picture came back on with sound as normal, then everything went dead within seconds. There is power going into power supply from plug but no power voltage from pin. I thought I was getting standby voltage but it goes back to 1. I changed the main board but still nada, should I change the power supply next? Help Tampatec!!!

Great videos! My Vizio won't power on. After doing as you suggested, the vizio light comes on dimly and fades as it does when turning off. I already ordered power supply from electropartsonline as it is a very rare part. I got his last one. Vizio 65" M3D650SV 0500-0507-0920 LCD Power Supply

Hi there ..love your videos - this one confused me a bit: I saw on shopjimmy a message that said - if you get horizontal lines the problem is in the panel itself and not the t-con....also never saw a TV that needs a warm-up. Can you please clarify that for me. Keep up the good work😉

What was the fix on your Mother's Vizio? I have a Vizio & it does the same thing! The screen comes on for a split second & then goes black. It does have audio though! Which board do you think it is???

Have you ever swapped screens from different model TVs to repair one that had a cracked screen or other screen issues. Such as a damaged outer layer or viewing layer of the screen? I have a monitor which has this issue. I think my nephew scratched the top layers of the screen. When turned on w/o an input, where the screen is just blue. In a couple of areas I can see white, which I assume to be the backlight shining straight through. Is there a way to fix & what would you recommend? Thanks!

Hey Tampa, you're videos are awesome man, thanks for teaching us all about the electronics we use on the daily. My vizio TV (e500i-b1) when i power it on sometimes it blinks the backlights, then you can hear sound, but its black. I turn it off and try to power on, sometimes it will work and display right and wont turn off during watching or gameplay. But once i turn it off it it may blink the backlights or not come on at all, again sound etc still there. if i unplug for 5 mins it turns on normally as soon as you plug it in, but it'll go back to the behavior i mentioned. Thanks for any reply, and keep up the great work on the videos.

Thanks for the videos, very helpful! I do have a question though, if you test the return voltage coming back to the power supple board from the main logic board and the voltage fluctuates from 3.2 to .08 does that also point to a bad main logic board?

Hi when I plug my inverter board in (hyundai Q321 inverter board the tv will not come up and stalls to standby with power drops. When unplugged the rest of the tv works, all the capacitors look ok throughout the boards. I am fairly sure the psu is ok as the main board works as the tv tunes and gives audio from tv channels but stalls to standby when the inverter board is plugged in do you think a new board will cure the problem. Over the past year the tv has taken longer and longer to come on like an old valve tv.)

You mentioned that the board was refurbished, do you send the faulty boards from TV that you have fixed to them to refurbish, ie do you recycle the boards ?

Hi, I have a VIZIO TV that is not turning on once I power it off. I have to unplug it and leave it unplugged for some days and it could turn it on again. I have changed the Main Logic board; but, the problem persist. Back ligth is just on for 1 or 2 second . What could be the root problem?

Have a problem on my sony dvd player tz-145 sometimes it showing protected. also sometimes when we plugined to audio in jack from tv no sound is coming without protected mode. can you help to how this happen?

Good review. What about other Vizio models? Are the symptoms going to be about the same for diagnostics? Case in point. We have a 6 year old P702ui-B3 that began to power on without the V logo, it had back light but barely could see the menu when activated. Sound worked fine. Turned the unit off, then back on and it displayed the V during boot up and functioned just fine. This process repeated itself every time the TV was turned on for about 2 months. Then, while on we witnessed the picture begin to fade and alter then finally no picture but had sound. Turned the TV off and it never powered on since. So, the current status is, it will not power on at all and we did the reset procedure of removing the power cord and holding down the power button on the back for a minute. That failed to clear up anything. Called Vizio and they simply said it's not worth repairing, likely the backlight. At this point, we want to diagnose this and see if it might be worth saving since it was a rather expensive model at the time. Go through the same procedure as in this video?

I just ran into an RCA TV that has an FRC board. First time I've seen a TV with one of these. What is the purpose of this board? I can't find any info at all on what it does. The TV had a no picture issue but had backlights. I did a reflow on this FRC board which fixed the issue for now. Im just curious to find some technical info on this board.

Hey Tampatec guy, if I have standby voltage coming out of the power bd going to the main bd but not present at the main bd while the main bd connector is plugged in and is present when the main bd connector is unplugged is it most likely something on the main bd pulling the voltage down?

BTW I have this same tv that I have not been able to get running. Half the screen is out so I assumed it was the T-con board. I ordered a new one but it didn't fix it. I swapped the ribbon cables too, no go. It's not the leds either. I am assuming the problem is on the section where the ribbon from the T-con plugs into that side of the screen. I would appreciate any advice you might have on this.

Hi tampatec. Did you no when your tv Red light blinks it is indicating that which TV part has gone wrong and its a code for the TV and what to do so I thought I would let you know as I have learn quite a bit from your videos thank you very much my TV is nearly fix I changed a capacitor and know the red light just stays on know so I just need to get a new main board when they get them back in and hopefully it will be fine

Great channel. I have a 58 inch Hisense tv. Red LED light goes on for one long and two short durations. Replaced Power, mother and Tcon boards with no change. No image, no sound, just the LED light going on one long and two short. Any idea?

I have a Vizio model E502AR. Power surge/lighting strike issue. Have replaced all 3 boards (power, main, T-con) Power light (Vizio emblem at bottom of tv) comes on now and stays on but still no sign of any picture. Black screen only. Any ideas?

have a dead 60 inch visio led. Power surge from hdmi port fried the chips there. Changed out the t-con board figuring that was the issue. Still wont power up or have standby power. Power board fuse intact and no obvious burn or bulging capacitors. Have new power board on the way, but wondering if you have any ideas ???? love the channel, I've watched every video. That's why I'm still stumped !

I have a Philips flat TV model number 32HF7874/10 the screen does not come on when I check it the circuit I couldn't find any bad capacitor but one thing I realise was current leakage that every metal part is live ,the metal part of the capacitors are live too please for help in this situation what can I do. I even bought a used PLCD 190 p1 on eBay but got the same results I need help and advice thanks in advance
