Great reaction/review! Gumbo Supreme, Indeed I am convinced, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that no rock group will ever replace Led Zeppelin as the greatest Rock Band in the history of the genre. Most don't even come close. These 4 British musicians were, in their prime, ROCK GODS, and they deserve the respect and admiration of all serious listeners of music .... PERIOD .....
We went to a lot of concerts back then and Zep was by far the loudest. The last time they came to town they played for 3 1/2 hours and my ears rang for a week. But we sat 20 feet away at eye level from the greatest band ever. It happened to be Bonzo's birthday so RP had 15k of us sing Happy Birthday.
I loved that look on Plant's face near the end, just after the band kicked in after the "Oh my Jesus" refrain. It was a look that simply said, "how fucking good are we". And they were.
JPJ is on bass. He was an accomplished multi instrumentalist. In Zeppelin he was the bassist AND keyboardist. Live, he'd often be playing 2 keyboards, whilst playing bass with his feet! He was also a noted mandolin player. :)
WOW....IDK you could even play Bass with your Feet! Thanks for the View & Comment and if any of my other Reactions look interesting to you, do me a favor and check it out and let me know what you think.
No autocorrect. No protools. No software mismanagement of any kind. Just 1 part acid blues, 1 part hard rock, a sprinkle of psychedelia, and raw talent times 4. There you go.
No Doubt! Thanks for the View & Comment! If any of my other Reactions look interesting to you, do me a favor and check it out and let me know what you think.
Zep took an old Blues tune, "Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed" by Blind Willie Johnson in 1927 and they decibelised it into Blues Rock perfection. They based many of their songs on great Black bluesmen- Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Robert Johnson- even Sam Cooke. And Blues Rock sprouted Progressive and Hard Rock. Maybe even Psychedelic Rock (see "Dazed and Confused" LIVE if poss.). But the undersung hero of "Dying" is Jonesy... he alone gives the propulsion necessary for the other three to add their filigrees of magic. Greetings from Canada, Rio- peace and be safe.
When you get a chance let me know what "LIVE" performance of Dazed & Confused should I react to? ps- I grew up in Detroit and started going to Windsor at 19 because we could DRINK! And I've been to TO about 20 times. ✌🏾
@@oldschoolhip-hopheadriorea9178 Yeah, well I made up the decibelised- sorry about that... but it means increasing the decibels (the units of measure of loudness). i.e. they rockified the Blues. Good on you for looking them up- big fan of dictionaries here.
@@oldschoolhip-hopheadriorea9178 I was Canadian Army and could drink legally at 17... I know the impetus! The thing about D&C is that either Jimmy (usually) or Robert would change on each performance- each show is individual and wonderful. You'll get in the least trouble if you do the MSG, NYC, 1973 show in the movie The Song Remains the Same... it's about 28 minutes though. PS I'm Southern Ontario, Been to Flint, Michigan about 20 times... and I got love for Detroit: Was (not Was), Berry Gordy, Bob Seger, Mitch Ryder, Martha and the Vandellas...
Ok, I've never heard of a "Fretless" bass. Thanks for the View & Comment! If any of my other Reactions look interesting to you, do me a favor and check it out and let me know what you think.
@@oldschoolhip-hopheadriorea9178 Frets allow you to hit the pitch of every note perfectly without worrying about going sharp or flat. They’re like markers to help determine notes. Jimmy was using a slide on his guitar and JPJ was essentially sliding on his bass as well.
Got hold of the blues in 69 repackaged it and sent it back to the states, heavy rock was born and never bettered, listen to the first two albums there ain’t a bad track and even to this day no one has played as heavy and as good
3yrs later i answer your Q mid-song. When Plant said: have you ever had your horn blown? It's the character in the song asking the audience if we were ever as close to death as he is right now. Horns are playing at the gates of heaven as they open up. Then at the end he asks the audience if he hears him talking to them....make up my dying bed now, I'm out. Did he make it into his heaven? I think we believe he did. And all that to majestic blues and rock n' roll funk!
That's DOPE! Thanks for the View & Comment and if any of my other Reactions look interesting to you, do me a favor and check it out and let me know what you think.
I think you said it well when you called John Paul Jones the swiss-army knife. By now, of course, people have told you that he's also the source of all Zep's rock-steady base. Nice reaction. Good to see people reacting to the old stuff. It's kind of like hearing it again for the first time.
I Love how you went back and listened to the intro THREE times, lol! I was there with you every one, even though I've heard it three hundred at least, lol! Love your enthusiasm and humor and intelligence in your reactions. ZEPPELIN!! Random suggestion: "In the Light" from the same album this song's on, is incredible and usually gets amazed reactions!
Love the fact that you stop 🛑 and go back to examine and clarify 🍃 did I just hear and see that correctly😳 that yes the utter brilliance of an in synch group of musical magicians 🍃
I’ve watched your reactions each several times, yes they really are that great, & the best equipment too. Bonham would adjust his drums to get the exact sound he wanted, he also used just his wrists more then his whole arms. His son said his dad held the sticks down further, which maybe gave him better control, & that deeper beat. I’ve loved them for about 50 years, I love all you newer young people, finding & loving them too.
John Paul Jones is playing bass on this, there's no organ on this song so he's not playing the keys. However, if you want a monster jam with JPJ playing keys, react to Trampled Under Foot from this same concert (Earls Court) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HGFITl5mFvs.html

Aren't they the BEST?!! Please do The Song Remains The Same/The Rain Song!! Just the best musicians! JPJ plays bass and keyboards and mandolin...no keys in this one. That is JPJ on bass...only 4 in this group!
A classic example of what I tell my kids: if you love what you do and are good at it you never work a day in your life. These guys were insane, but joyously so.
Compared to other bands of this era, these guys were much higher trained musicians. Jimmy had a lot of background as a producer and technical expert on mixing and getting the right sound. No doubt it’s how they got the blend to sound so perfect live. He had a GREAT ear.
JPJ did it ALL! Thanks for the View & Comment and if any of my other Reactions look interesting to you, do me a favor and check it out and let me know what you think.

BETTER than everyone ,to be honest. Hearing all the instruments and Plant on each and every song, slow and fast or hard. It's what seperated them from all other bands. Oh and of course there's Bonzo .

John Paul Jones plays keys AND bass, sometimes both at the same time (with his feet when he is on the Hammond B3) HIGHLY underrated........He and John Bonham hold the fort down for Jimmy to play over and really star themselves

There is something weird with this vocal analysis for this song. And this is not the only analysis doing it. I don't know how or why but they are skipping a very climatic part for this song, that actually ends with a You Shook me riff and verse. Can someone tell me what's going on? its confusing me a little 😂
What's up man love your reactions! I have a song that should be a MUST "YBN Cordae- Old Niggas" Young rapper responding to Old heads on why they do what they do and HOW they are now in they are in the same position y'all were once in when HipHop was new!

@@oldschoolhip-hopheadriorea9178 if you want to hear Bonham REALLY obliterating everybody then check out a gig called listen to this Eddie. Even from the 1st rack he simply wasn't human that night. I'm not kidding he was unbelievable!!!
John paul jones is playing the bass, keys, mandolin, guitar, it's a genius, made a lot of arregements of Led Zep, he was so quiet, in the shadow, but he was the glue, of LED ZEP! The 3 others were so huge monsters, improvising all the time, without him, it won't have worked! As other guys said, you should watch the Madison Square Garden concert in 1973,the movie called THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME! All the songs are crazy masterpieces! The sound production is perfect, the versions are perfect, and you can feel the telepathic link between them, always improvising to make the songs evolve every noghts, it's madness! WATCH DAZED AND CONFUSED! THEY'RE POSSESSED! PAGE IS THE DEVIL HIMSELF! IT'S COMING FROM ANOTHER WORLD, DIMENSION, GALAXY! Peace from France bro 😂👍✌️🎸🇫🇷
