'At our very worst, we were better than most people. And at our very best, we could just wipe the floor with the lot of them.' - John Paul Jones on Led Zeppelin's live shows
Im 64 and was lucky enough to be intrigued by the album cover and the name of the band when I was a kid....what a shock...Ive never stopped appreciating their talents
For anyone wondering what guitar Page used; An excerpt from June 2014 Guitar World Magazine. "It’s hard for people to believe, but I just used my Fender Telecaster for the entire album, except for one track. Somebody was trying to sell me a Gibson Flying V at the time. I don’t what made them think I could afford it, because I clearly couldn’t, but I asked them if I could just try it out. I brought it into Olympic and used it on “You Shook Me.” With those big humbuckers, it was so powerful you can hear it breaking up the amp in the middle of the song. I could’ve tidied it up, but I really liked hearing the amp really struggle to get the sound out. It’s really fighting through the electronics to get out of that speaker. I’m not sure what happened to the guitar. It might’ve found its way to Keith Richards or something, but I really don’t know."
I personally really like Robert Plant's descending vocal parts, he is also following the guitar if you listen carefully, I think it's a really cool bit, but each to their own of course.
First record I ever bought was Led Zep Shook meI, was 15, started work 14y 9mths early 70’s, I loved this album, but Led Zep are something special, I lived Led Zep from that day on❤️ still play their albums & many others as well.
I grew up listening to Motown and was introduced on Led Zeppelin and I never looked back, this has to be the all time best debut album of all time, at first listen what you may not like is totally forgotten by the end....
Robert and Jimmy did that a lot on live performances. This band had so much swagger, they knew they were great. Page had lighting in bottle when looking for members to fill his band. Please react to How Many More Times live version.
Led zeppelin is a rabbit whole from which you will never escape. And I couldn't be happier watching you take that journey. Keep it coming. My request. In my time of dying. Much love
That is honestly one of my favorite parts of any of their songs...where Robert copies Jimmy's guitar or Jimmy copies Robert's singing with his guitar...both are amazing. And so unique to their sound.
@@DramaSydETV Yeah, you don't like one little element of the song, totally praise it otherwise, and these damn Zep heads won't let you by. I love Zep, but come on! lol
At their very heart, Led Zeppelin is a Blues Band first and foremost. The early stuff was their best stuff in my opinion. I liked most all of it, but the raw grittiness of the first 2 albums was absolutely classic stuff.
After Robert sings "and I have birds that sing" the second time, you can hear the band laughing in the background because they are just having so much fun being loose in the studio.
@@DramaSydETV oh hey! Fantastic. I think you will love it. It brings a lot of thunder...especially from Bonhams drums. I think his drum kit needed the ER after that track
Brother, I wore this album out on cassette. I love Zeppelin and this may be weird, but this is my favorite album of theirs start to finish. I listened to it over and over riding backwards in a car around the US in 1990. Nice to see somebody else recognize the absolute brilliance of this as a debut.
Love your insightful reaction. Hard not to appreciate LZs innovative yet nostalgic adaptation of the Blues.......I am so grateful that these four artists met. Thank you for taking time to make these videos.
I also think they're the greatest band ever, saw them live many times as l teenager and yes Robert Plant made me a very happy teenage girl, Class of 75'✌️🎶
A Clinic! that is the truth. Loved seeing your face when Plant & Page went back and forth....... I thought you were going to talk about it for 7 minutes after the song :P then the video froze........ Thank you for the reactions. They are top notch.
First time viewer, long time Zep believer, lol. I love the video and presentation. Your little breaks are noted but continue to keep them brief. Robert Plant's signature is falling or rising notes. He's usually carrying the song, accompanying it, or matching Jimmy Page and what he's playing.
This entire album was recorded live in the studio. No mixing or overdubs. Pure magic! Side note...Page and Plant's 1998 album Walking Into Clarksdale was also recorded live in the studio. Not many artists can pull this stuff off.
мой милый брат) я из России) полностью разделяю твои эмоции) эта музыка невероятна) я рос на этой музыки) я горжусь, что люди могут такое творить) спасибо тебе за реакцию) my dear brother) I am from Russia) I fully share your emotions) this music is incredible) I grew up on this music) I am proud that people can do this) thank you for your reaction)
Let's put it this way! You could ask 100 or 1000 or 10,000 ppl who they thought the greatest Rock & Roll band of all time was ??! And I can assure you without any doubt or hesitation!.. Most would say Led Zeppelin!'
I can't see why ANYONE would give this review a thumbs down. This was straight up spot on. And yes, this was the genesis of what was to come from Led Zeppelin. They announced to the world that this is who they were with this album, and just branched out and totally grew and matured from here with each consecutive album being another step into deeper explorations and realms of their artistic abilities.
Plant was using raw talent following Page's guitar with his amazing vocals. It wasn't something he copied from anyone else with this. I love it! It's your channel, but it's hard for me to listen to you criticize something I've loved my entire life. I'm real glad to hear you say Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest rock bands of all time because, in my mind, they are absolutely the best and will never be topped!
Understand, but I will never say I love or like something just for subs and views, alot of reactors will do that. I'm just not that guy. Prince is my favorite all time, but I do not like everything he did, does that make him any less of a genius? No.
This song was originally written in the early 1950s by a African American delta blues singer and composer by the name of Willie Dixon out of Chicago Illinois. Willie Dixon also wrote songs and composed songs for Fats Domino Chubby Checker Chuck Berry and James Brown. He was compensated by Led Zeppelin for rearranging this track.
Check out You Shook Me in the BBC Sessions album. Even though Zeppelin were masters of the Studio Version songs, their live stuff takes it to a whole new place.
I didn’t disagree with anything you said. Remember, this was high water music in Britain at the time. Some seriously rehearsed talent. Listen to Yardbirds from the Little Games album, Clapton on Mayall’s “Beano” album. Check out Arthur Brown’s song, Fire. Britain was on fire with music then.
Zeppelin was the band that made me obsessed with rock music. Jimmy Page was all that was needed to start me off on a love of lead guitar--I have loved many genres and still do(punk, post punk, glam-rock, blues, jazz, classical, etc) but one band I consistently return to, is Zeppelin and will continue to do so, until I need a hearing aid. Perhaps beyond--maybe Sazed and Confused at my funeral or In My Time of Dying, of course hahaha. Just saying ;)
Haven’t even finished watching, nailed it... “the call and response!!!” 👏🏼👏🏼 If you get the time check out some Doobie Brothers. Listen to the Music, China Grove, Long Train Runnin’, Jesus is Just Alright, Black Water, and my fav, Takin’ It to the Streets... All 70’s joints; I think you’ll get into it.
This is one of the Zep songs where i'm usually like... "Eh, let's skip this one.". But then someone doesn't LET me skip it, and i'm like... "Oh yeah... fuck, i forgot about how awesome this is!".
Might I humbly suggest you react to Janis Joplin Ball & Chain live at Monterey, 1967. You seem to like blues, and she did it AWESOMELY!!!! You won't be sorry.
all I'll say 1969 this album came out people didn't know what to make of this band they were so far ahead of everyone music-wise !! They were the Greatest period .
Zeppelin were great admirers of old school, black blues as we're other UK 60s bands like the Rolling Stones The Who and Pink Floyd. You don't like slide guitar? Robert Plant on vocals and harmonica.
