@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories I will, it's like living through it again. We didn't have cellphones or pagers... I remember sleeping outside at Memorial Music against a brick wall on a cold and rainy night to buy tickets for the 1977 show. I am holding half of the embossed ticket stub, it cost $8.85 and was at The Summit. It doesn't have the date, but it was on a Monday and Jerry Weintraub was the Promoter back in the day. The brick wall is still there, but it's a Dry Cleaner now, 47 years ago... I just discovered that there is a video of the entire show!

As crazy as this sounds, I can definitely relate to the guys story. In 1973, I went to see Genesis in Detroit for their Selling England By the Pound tour. Peter Gabriel at that time was in full storytelling and costume mode. And Suppers Ready had by then become the bands' Tour de force epic of their live shows. Unfortunately, the only thing I remember from that night was looking for and finding our seats. Everything else is a total blank. I don't know what I took before the show, but I've deeply regretted it ever since.

I could buy that. We've all heard the saying from Woodstock-attendees, "If you can remember Woodstock, then you weren't there!" I wondered about the truthfulness of those statements, until the Summer of 1995, when my brother & myself and our girlfriends saw VAN HALEN on the "Balance"-Tour, in Bonner Springs, KS. Now, I'd been to concerts before that, but because I was out of the Navy by that time (2 years prior), I had no quams about taking a toke or five off the "jointers" (as Ozzy called them at his shows in the 1980s) that were being passed around for free. I was so blitzed that I barely remember Mike Anthony's bass guitar solo, Sammy Hagar's accoustic blues-influenced showpiece, Alex Van Halen's drum solo (only because he was wearing a neckbrace for the entire show), and Eddie's 12 or 15 minute guitar solo. Don't remember much of what they played, but know they did play for about 2 hours. They were stoked over the size of the crowd, as the venue is an outdoor venue (of which 5 years later would see Iron Maiden play at the same venue, Sandstone Ampitheater/Bonner Springs, KS), and there were at least 70,000 of U.S. there, Sammy said 90,000 over the microphone at one point. And now that I think of it, when Sammy said he was "Having a drink with 90,000 of his closest friends" over the mic, I 'did' look over my left shoulder, and up the hill, to see a SEA of 'VAN HALEN-ites' stretching to the horizon, as the summer sun was waning into sunset! So Sammy probably had the number of attendees correct. Hell, he was in a better position to know than I was anyway! They probably get a ticket-sales count before they go on, and they were selling tickets at the gate also, @ $40.00 a pop! A band I'd never heard of opened for them, 'Our Lady Peace.' And I never heard of them after that, either. Point being, the old 'Zep-Head' you were picking the brain of was most likely telling the truth.

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories i think what makes your videos so special and downright necessary is that within the history of any band, theres always going to be a place in which your own love for them can influence how you share their history, good or bad. when i watch your vids, you are kind of bringing us into that place within your mind that this most amazing of amazing bands resides, maybe resides within us all, because who exists can say they havent been touched by zep even if they only heard em once. its the kind of thing you hear once and it changes you. to say otherwise indicates a lack of soul, ahaha. your vids have the quality of sharing your perspective of how they inspired you growing up, theres something to be said about passing that positivity on beyond the history and sharing about your life and how it was a little bit of a struggle to find the zep catalog. all the time and effort you put into it, know that those of us who might be struggling, youre bringing such positivity to our lives as well sharing their story in the way you do that words dont do justice.

Hahah nice! Yeah the Caves themselves are fascinating, the site itself is surrounded by trees, like a forest i'd say. Can't imagine the vibes down there lol. Episode 4 is quite a challenge right now, trying to sum an entire tour is hard, but as i will do 1975 concert retrospectives in the future i don't stress too much. I need to get a PG USA pressing...yeah i agree, most of them are not in good condition. I know people listened to these A LOT. I’m glad I found your channel. I’ll be subbing for sure. I consider myself luckier than smart lol, because it was a much different time and we had the freedom to do stuff like that. The friend I had who made that Ticketron run didn’t make a dime on the tickets, he basically had money from everyone we hung out with, and grabbed the tickets. He bought both nights, July 6th and July 7th of ‘73. I didn’t see the Friday night show, my ticket was for the Saturday night show. It was roughly two weeks before the TSRTS filming in New York at MSG, and at the tail end of the tour. Plant struggled a bit with his vocals, because by that time at the end of the tour he had some serious issues, but the band was spectacular, and they had incredible charisma, an aura, and the energy in the old Chicago Stadium was electric all night. The crowd had lowered the fire escapes and people were pouring up them by the hundreds and into the building. People were sitting on the stairs and in the aisles, and they were breaking the lights located under the balconies to make it darker in the building. You couldn’t even walk in there, I’m sure it was way beyond building capacity, the Chicago Fire Department would have had fits. The air was like a fog of pot, cigarettes, and fireworks smoke. Since it was so close to the Fourth of July, the place was full of fireworks all night, and several times Plant pleaded with the crowd to stop, and there were some pretty good fights on the main floor. I remember the chaos well, I was sixteen and had never seen so much energy in one place lol…. That was when some of us decided that we’d never miss another Zeppelin show when they were in town again. They did three nights in January of ‘75, and four nights in April of ‘77. Again, it was a different world, just great times.

They complemented the 1974 songs indeed. Lucky they had them....like a sixth sense!!

So did I in 2005.(from Ireland) ...what a bunch of nutters we are!

La edición nacional tampoco traía éso... Así que siempre sufriamos con su colección de discos 🤣🤣🤦

If I recall correctly, he simply rested his voice for two years and found a new method of singing. He probably had some secret training as well...

This topic deserves it's own video, Robert's vocals in 1975 are below average. He was back in 1977 and by 1980, he knew how to use his instrument very well. His solo career has been a masterful touch!

But on ITTOD I think it is much less than before on the rocksongs. On All my love he was great. The knebworth concert his voice was also not a good as it was. I saw LZ in 1980 live, that wasn t good either. Yes in his solo career much sounded good because he adjust what he can sing. On the page plant tour his voice was again not als good as it was. But it was a great tour, I saw them in 1995. I prefer his voice in 1973 on TSRTS, for me he was at his best, although not all the tour, I ve got a lot of bootlegs of that tour! Great we have TSRTS!

Also, the Moody Blues formed Threshold Records 1970-71. IIRC "On the Threshold of a Dream" was the first album released on the Threshold label. Artists were trying to wrestle control of their releases from the record companies, basically assuming the risk of studio production costs and initial capital for the releasable product.

Man, i hadn't heard this band before, the minute i played the track Apache Dropout...it reminded me on Frank Zappa's Muffin Man so much, it's raw and takes no prisoners, just pure rock and roll. Thanks for recommending this one! It's like Captain Beefhart meets 1970 Sabbath!

I first heard of them a couple years ago while watching performances on Beat Club , a German TV show kinda like Don Kirshner's Flower Hour or Top of the Pops . I listened to a couple of their albums from the early 70s afterwards and I liked what I heard. Just one of dozens of cool old bands that I have found from digging through RU-vid videos from decades ago. I spend a lot of time just looking for anything I have not yet heard from what I consider the best era for rock and roll , 1960 -1979. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Nothing makes me happier than finding something good and sharing it with people who appreciate it. Thank You for the work you obviously put in to these videos. I enjoy the channel a lot

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories I agree. Being a guitarist like myself I would recommend someone I've been learning and studying this past few months, Lonnie Mack. His early instrumental albums from 1962, 63, 64 are outstanding and fun to learn. Chicken Pickin' , Wham , Sa Ba Hoola , Memphis , On the Move etc are some of the best examples of early electric guitar soloing. Think of the Ventures but with more of a country blues feel and more dynamics. I think you'll enjoy those if you are not already familiar with his playing

El primer album de Crimson es mi favorito, tanto así que no pude comprar otro fuera del segundo, In The Wake of Poseidon, los demás si bien son GENIALES, considero funcionan mucho mejor en vivo. Es cierto que PG es como Exile o The Wall, claro que a diferencia de, no tienen outtakes. PG ha sido una confrontación para mi en este proceso investigativo, pero confirmo su grandeza claro. En el episodio 4 trataté de resumir la gira de 1975 lo mejor que pueda!

Hey there Paul, thanks for your kind words. As for Jimmy's sound it's certainly a matter for feel first but his gear i know is the stuff of wonders. I'm not a gear expert and probably the least saavy guitarist when it comes to pedals....BUT i've trained my ear well to determine what's going on. So you'd like to know how to recreate his Echo effects? He certainly had different settings and would trigger these with help of an assistant on the side of the stage. Jimmy Sakurai is my hero haha! Keith Richards, like the media press in general, thought LZ was a crass teen oriented lab product. "I always felt there was something a little hollow about it", he said. Now, follow the money. By 1971, the LZ entourage saw themselves both as an unstoppable success and as the biggest band in the world. But they were in the same record company who claimed that the RS were the “Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World”. Few people outside the record business knew that LZ was outselling the RS by 3 to 1. In 1972, both bands toured US at the same time. The LZ tour resulted both a great artistic and financial success, and a big failure, as they were totally ignored by the media and the celebrities. The Stones tour was advertised by their Los Angeles PR firm as the youth cultural event of the year. Still, LZ actually outdrawed them in some cities, but no one seemed to get noticed at all, thus no one would ever know... So they hired B. P. Fallon as a press agent as a first mitigation. Later on, came Danny Goldberg, a 22yo publicist who ironically had written reviews for Rolling Stone, one of LZ biggest critics. Solters, from Solters, Roskin and Sabinson, one of the best and expensive PR companies in US, had told LZ: “Your music is taking a backseat to a lot of negative publicity about your offstage life, and that offstage image will require some rehabilitation (...) You’ve shied away from most interviews for so long, all the press has to go on are the rumors about your maniacal behavior. We’ve got to (...) change that outlaw image. We also have to let the population at large know that you’re accomplished musicians, not savages.”

No need to get defensive at all. This is a very good question. Let's first talk about how "others" have dissed this album and ignored its value, thus why i find so many copies at record fairs. I'm also working class, what is the middle class anyway? I would donate to a school or club but guess what....less and less people care about the music were i live.
