This music hitting the virgin ears of the young today must be like shock waves from outerspace. All those notes. All those changes. The lyrics. The bombastic, fantastic, rock 'n' roll of yesteryear. YES!!!!

It’s way too much fun. I want to take it a fantasy step further. I think some of these youngsters qualify. It would give me immeasurable pleasure to be their official tour guide, in the time machine to some of the past shows. I want to revisit the concerts and laugh my ass off watching the newbies brains melt live. I think that’s a solid weekend. And a lifetime of me saying, you should have seen your face! Ha ha!

You are so right, “the rain song” will resonate with any person who has love and empathy in their heart… regardless of your mood when the song starts. Jimmy Page WILL take you to another time and place… he will express things we can’t translate into words… and then he will gently deliver you back to our Earthly dimension…. Great reaction, There will never be a band like them again. They all are playing their own song, but somehow comes together. The timing between them is supernatural and is a gift. One of my 2 favorite bands, other is Pink Floyd.
@johnsmits2494
@johnsmits2494 3 года назад
Absolutely. They were closer to jazz players than other “standard” rock bands. Even somewhat set numbers like Rock’n’Roll, STH, and TSRTS had adjustments or slightly elaborated parts which most rockers couldn’t do to their own songs live. Of course that could lead to a bit of chaos or parts which should have maybe been more studio locked in, but this is part of the Zep magic. Sometimes the alternate parts would be amazing, but sometimes certain songs like WTLB just wouldn’t work. But that song had many guitar parts overdubbed, let alone the other instruments which may have overdubs as well.

The footage of singer Robert Plant dressed as a medieval knight is part of the movie "The Song Remains The Same" from 1976. The film shows Led Zeppelin at the apogee of their glory; it includes footage of their three 1973 concerts in NY, interviews, and some fiction as well featuring the members of the band.

Jimmy is great and amazing. One very important fact: JPJ actually wrote the riffs to Heartbreaker, Black Dog, The Ocean, and others. But Rain Song, That’s The Way, etc. the chord stuff was usually Jimmy. Just saying because JPJ was more important than you think. It would not be close if Pino Palladino or someone else came in, JPJ was a force to be reckoned with live or in the studio. Listen to the boots or even the official live stuff with him and Bonzo if Jimmy wasn’t playing well. Unbelievably creative, almost impossible to fully cateragize.

I posted elsewhere that if I had one chance to time travel, I would have gone to the 1970 Royal Albert Hall Led Zeppelin performance. After watching this for about the 500th time in my life, I’m rethinking that decision. I agree with everyone else’s comments: takes me on an emotional journey, so brilliant, so moving. A perfect performance. As a 50 year Led Zeppelin fan, I realize that I still react to their music like the first time I heard it. Maybe that’s why these first time reaction videos are so compelling - we realize we’re still experiencing the music like it’s the first time.

I've seen it at least a hundred times and could watch it at least a hundred more. That's what this Film was to me at 14 years of Age in 1976 when I saw the Theatrical Release of TSRTS for the 1st time...a LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE! I went in naive & innocent. I emerged from the Exit Doors of the Darkened Theater out onto the Sun-baked Street seeing the World in a Whole New Light! The actual full Theatrical Title for this Film that was displayed on Theatrical Posters and Newspaper Ads was: LED ZEPPELIN: THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME (IN CONCERT...AND BEYOND!) The "Beyond" refers to the Fantasy Sequences interspread throughout the Film, inspired by each Band Members interpretations. LED ZEP conceived the whole purpose of the Film was meant as a Gift to all their Fans, to show what it looks, feels and sounds like for them to be on that stage, and share that with their fans. Now I'm nearly 60, and I still feel the same way everytime I revist any part of this Film. All the emotions of a 14 year old being blown away by the BEST BAND in HISTORY are still there and ever fresh! LONG LIVE LED ZEPPELIN! Their Music BELONGS to the AGES!

In my many year's, I had the Beatles of which their music changed the music world from what it was, they're music is still relevant today, then came Led Zeppelin, the band that changed music again by showcasing live performance as a true art form while killing it musically and their music is still relevant,then the 40 year drought where most music just sucked until recently, now there's Band Maid whom returned rock back to what it was meant to be with incredible song wrighting and live performance, in 50 years their music will still be relevant just like the Beatles and Led Zeppelin.

Check out a band called Morphine if you want something completely new. The bass player plays a 2 string slide bass, the sax player plays two saxes at once and there’s no guitars. Start with these songs: Mary Won’t you call my name, Shame, Mile High, Like Swimming, A Good woman is hard to find, Take me with you (when you go), So many ways, You Speak My language. Zep are my sentimental fave band but Morphine have been my current fave since The 90’s.

I'm pretty amazed by the reactions to the reactions. I knew this stuff was was great when I first heard it in 1976 but a little raw for some.

The Song Remains the Same was originally supposed to be an intro piece for Rain Song but just kept growing as they jammed until they decided to make it a full blown song of its own

Their musical inspiration as for many British bands were American black blues and early rock. It's a tribute to them

And Chet Atkins...all the classic rock guys loved Chet...and Elvis, who was also, obviously, HUGELY influenced by older black blues guys.

I think it's fair to say no one has played a better live guitar part. JPJ's bass line is perfect as are Bonham's drums (which fit the music so well,)

This is the opening and second track of Zeppelin's 1973 album 'Houses of the Holy' (which, typically for them, did not include the song 'Houses of they Holy'). A devastating piece of work that established them as the biggest band of any kind in the world, it demonstrates both their abilities and failures in equal measure. But, in concert, this was impossible to beat.

Don't worry, darling, there's plenty more treasure in the old skool rock shop. Try listening to Deep Purple singing Lazy (live at Tokyo), or for something completely different, try Fool's Overture by Supertramp.
