Zeppelin was my background music through the '70s and I had the most glorious of times. I lived on the Gulf of Mexico, next to the Colorado Rockies, and then a short stop on the Pacific Ocean before heading home to Michigan for the rest of my days. Zeppelin with a little grass at the 12K altitude tree line was almost unforgettable.

This song live would go off into a 3 song medley and return with thunder.

The main initial riff from "Your Time Is Gonna Come" always reminds me of "Dear Mr. Fantasy".

In How Many More Times the song was written by LZ but they make a lot of lyrics in the song with references to Howling Wolf who they deeply admired and they also used other words in the song that were used by other famous blues men ,like when he says they call me "the hunter" that was their tribute to Albert King a giant among blues guitarist!

"Your time is gonna come " I can hear hints of country meets Psychedelic preping us for Zep three ,leftover harmonizations of the 60's..and Bonhams percussion meshes this song and modernizes it.

Hey, been a minute since I've tuned in but once again you produced a great, informative review for one of my fav Zep tunes. When asked what my favorite Led Zeppelin song is I always reply "Why, the first two albums of course".

This first album is such a masterpiece. You can't not listen to it all the way through. And that they only got together a few weeks before making this album, and that they were all so young. Jimmy paid to cut this album. British blues, guys -- the best.

Huge fan of this song both album & live versions! Think Jimmy was using the bow based on the Denmark Radio Studio live video. I think they put their detractors to good use for publicity bc the more Rolling Stone crapped on them, the more interested people became and they came to the concerts either already fans or new fans after. Like Jimmy said in an interview (STB covered) they were worried about noone showing up for shows bc they hadn’t been to the states or put out anything new in around a year and they landed in Atlanta to 53k+ fans and over 57k+ in Tampa.

You were asking about the Pedal Steel. Not sure which one Jimmy plays. It's a fairly sophisticated instrument; but for a guitarist of Jimmy's caliber, it can't have been a huge stretch. It's like a Lap Steel (similar to what John Lennon plays in the 'Get back' film), with added pedals to enable pitch and volume bends. It offers almost infinite harmonic possibilities. Sneaky Pete Kleinow, and Al Perkins is probably familiar to rockn rollers. But there are countless wizards from way, way back. Bob Wills, Buddy Emmons. In latter year the early recordings of Robert Randolph are mindblowers. He put it through a fuzz box, and it kills. Your channle is IMO the best one left in the reviewers. Deep and introspective. Edit: I know this is off topic, but I just got to add re. Robert R and Family Band. First tiem I saw them I think was on Letterman show. They did "I Need More Love", and when the Bassist comes in with those high vocals, I just about hit the roof!

@Soul Train Bro the guitars in the part you love in How Many More Times (“The guitar in this song is singing, rather than crying.” Is Page playing his guitar through a few fuzz pedals. Fuzz pedals are a huge industry these days, in no small part because of what Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix did with them. A lot of guitar players say Jimmy’s using the Sola Sound or Vox MKII Tone Bender fuzz pedal here, but I’m of the belief that Page being a season player had a few different fuzz pedals because some of the lines sound more like an earlier MK1 fuzz. Page is an absolute genius. Love your channel! On Howling Wolfs’ influence - you NAILED it imho man, re: the lyric elements borrowed from Howlin’s, How Many More Years. However it also always reminded me of the trance-like blues riff on Howlin’s, “Mr. Airplane Man”, the repetition of the main blues hook/riff like that as the driving element also seems as a borrowed production technique here by Page.

What a hidden gem is How Many More Times. And I thought I already knew LZ...

I am so glad that real radio stations with real DJ's came in to maniifestation in the early 70's, It was long play and somewhat underground type FM stations. ( like WABX in Detriot, and CJOM in Canada ) It was the same time that Zepplin and other great bands came out. So the timing was a blessing. Spoiled us all who were in high school age when Zepplin first came out. Could not stand listening to most 80's and 90's music, and most music in the 2000's on up after that. I liked Heart in the 80's with songs like "Never" and "what about love" though. The Wilson sisters are highly talented. Now radio stations have no DJ's, all corperate digital robot playlist that suck really bad, WTF. The younger crowd don't realize how shitty the music is that they are listening to, be cause they never heard the bands that actually had talent in the late 60's/70's Joe Walsh has been good all the way through time. Now it's time to go listen to another talented band that actually play their own instruments. And that is (HUMBLE PIE Rockin the Filmore) album. Peter Framptom and Steve Marriott when they were about 20 years old.
