An emotional take on this song by Ledisi! I'm glad Lisa Fischer's youtube channel has started uploading from this concert I hope Ledisi's people will do the same.
I know because I have the same voice teacher that Ledisi had while she was still in Oakland. I’m Not bragging, just stating the facts. And not she’s trained in all genres of music not just classical music.
NB in DC I want to say it’s because she’s cursed. In the years she gets nominated, there’s always a bigger artist and song that trumps her. But there definitely have been years where she was robbed. She should’ve won Best R&B Performance and Song in 2012 for “Pieces of Me” and Best Traditional R&B Performance for “All The Way” and R&B Album for Let Love Rule in 2018. And if she had to only win one of these, it should’ve been for “All The Way.” She lost to Childish Gambino for “Redbone,” and nothing about that song was remotely traditional.
Maybe I’m wrong, but she doesn’t need a Grammy. Grammies are for these « commercial songs » with no soul. She is a true artist, that’s all what matters 👍🏼 (Sorry for my English, I’m French speaker)
@Tanya Gladden She's already done Broadway in a little thing called The Color Purple, she came out of cabaret and theater in the SF Bay Area, Where she was also a headliner in Jazz Clubs there and all over NoCal. She is a force of nature live!
This is an example of how to totally dominate the stage. Ledisi rocks! Study her face. Her eyes. She was so in the zone, that when she had finished singing, and the audience started applauding, it took her a moment to snap out of it. You just got schooled. Mesmerizing performance. It doesn't get any better than this. I still haven't snapped out of it.
Debbie Rogers I am a big fan of Ledisi , binge listening to her and buying her music. But to some extent I'm gonna have to agree with you on this video ; this deeply emotional, wonderfuly executed singing/acting perfomance brought tears to my eyes and may be one of her best so far in my opinion (by the way in a genre she pleasantly surprised me with) .
Listennn. Ledisi ripped that stage!!!! This performance is unbelievable & perfect!! I felt every word & so did the crowd by their faces!!! God gave her a gift of song & wow it’s powerful!! Just wow!!! I’m speechless!!!!😲😲😲😲🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
@@MarvinParksAmericanJazzSinger I was already well aware of that, you must have completely ignored the fact that I never once said it was Nina's song, I only referred to 'her' version.
It’s amazing how far Ledisi has come. From her rinky dink club days in SF and Oakland to now. When I first heard her live, this was back in the mid 90s, I was taken aback to what I was hearing. I thought to myself, what is this incredible vocalist doing playing in this hole in the wall joint. She should be a household name. With that said, now that she’s this established big star, I kinda miss being able to see her in more intimate venues.
I was thinking the same thing when she performed at a small lounge in Santa monica now she is big time. I always knew her artistry would get the recognition it deserved!! Go Ledisi! Go
Oh. My. God! I've loved this sing since the first time I heard it. Then I heard Nina sing it and I was again, blown away. But Ledisi...holy moly! I can't even describe it. Just...wow!
I still remember the disrespect and straight up fowl move from Beyonce for taking the place that belonged to Ledisi to sing Take my Hand Precious Lord at the Grammys dressed in a sheer dress with men surrounding her in a Freemason ritual. Ledisi sang it as Mahalia Jackson in the film Selma. That was a moment that should have belonged to Ledisi. But God is great bc Beyonce could never have what Ledisi has ...the gift of song. And Ledisi sings with honor and praise and with class. 👏 Bravo. Ledisi is the real deal. Take notes Beyonce....this is what greatness sounds like when you don't sell your soul. This is singing without compromise. 💕🎵🙏
Ne me quitte pas Il faut oublier Tout peut s'oublier Qui s'enfuit déjà Oublier le temps Des malentendus Et le temps perdu À savoir comment Oublier ces heures Qui tuaient parfois À coups de pourquoi Le cœur du bonheur Ne me quitte pas Ne me quitte pas Ne me quitte pas Ne me quitte pas But if you stay I'll make you a day Like no day has been Or will be again We'll sail on the sun We'll ride through the rain We'll talk to the trees And worship the wind And if you go I'll understand Give me just enough love To hold in my hand If you go away If you go away If you go away If you go away If you go away Like I know you will You must have the world To stop turning till You return to me If you ever do What good is love Without loving you? I can tell you now As you turn to go I'll be dying slowly Till the next hello Ne me quitte pas Ne me quitte pas Ne me quitte pas Ne me quitte pas But if you stay I'll make you a night Like no night has been Or will be again We'll sail on you smile I'll ride on your touch And talk to your eyes That I love so much Then if you go I'll understand Leave me just enough love To hold in my hand If you go away If you go away If you go away If you go away If you go away Like I know you must There will be nothing left In this world to trust Just an empty room Full of empty space Like that empty look I see on your face I'd've been the shadow on your dark If I though it would Have kept you by my side Ne me quitte pas Ne me quitte pas Ne me quitte pas Ne me quitte pas
I was just curious because I saw her on the Kelly Clarson Show. I was skepticall because this song has been interpreted by so many greats, but I failed to find the words to describe the feelings this performance brings me. Damn woman! I am in tears!
Well the oceans just sent a title waive my way. It been almost 3 years after my divorce and I was so damn angry I didn’t shed 1 single tear and then this happened. This was every single thing I felt and I was to angry to say. Such is life..
I have watched this so many times in complete awe! I am absolutely mesmerized by her talent… Such a wonderful gift and I’m so happy that she finds it worthy to share with us!🎵❤️
Thank you so much, Ledisi recently released ‘Ledisi Sings Nina’ with the Metropole Orkest so I enjoyed seeing this live. This song is included on that album I listen to it on iTunes.
Just love this, a fabulous much recorded song given a live performance surely destined to remain unequalled for a long, long time. And yet just another highlight in a mesmerising BBC Prom. Bravo!
