I was so fortunate to see this performed live. I've seen many concerts in my life and none had ever brought me to tears until this performance. This video just can't convey the power that being there provided. There are no words to express how much it moved me. Simply amazing!

I so wanted her to portray Nina Simone. I always felt she had the perfect contralto, style, and beauty to do it justice. This only convinced me more. No one else has the guts to sing Nina's songs. That band is the Bizness!

I love her, but in fact her French diction and pronunciation are far from perfect. She's singing it almost as though she doesn't understand what lyrics mean: "Don't leave me . . . I'll do anything to make you stay . . . I'll be the shadow of your shadow, the shadow of your hand, the shadow of your dog." The way she tosses off the lyrics you would have no idea of the desperation these lyrics capture.

She had great producers on the miseducation of Lauryn Hill! They must have told her not to shake her voice that much, because before and after the album she sounds so shaky.

she didn‘t shake before, her voice was very good before the miseducation. maybe she didn‘t practise much in the recent years. also her voice sounds damaged. even in 2005 her performances on block party were nice. or check sister act or when she sang in as the world turns, no shaking
