That was a really good video & how lovely for you to revisit you old place of work. The relaxing atmosphere really comes across. Thanks for telling your history with working there. 😊
Brilliant concept, well executed, lovely footage, excellent narration. This may be a personal tour Louise, but I am sure it will have a wide appeal. It is gorgeous inside, and it is in an exceptionally beautiful setting. Well done! Thanks for taking us with you, and taking us on an exclusive sneak peak behind the doors. Thanks for showing us photos from your photo album of your time here too - that really added to the story.
So lovely to see the video of this fantastic place😍😍😍To be on community 03-04 is one of the best things I’ve done in my life. We had a lot of good times in the kitchen and you Louise was an excellent person to work with. And that I met my husband in the kitchen at this marvellous place makes it more special ❤
Oh Hello Helena! Thank you so much for this lovely comment! Its one of the best things that I have done in my life too! I used to really enjoy working with you and your now husband too! Lots of fun times, particularly in the kitchen! 🤣
What a wonderful place, I can sea how your job for a season could turn into 6 years, it was meant to be. The views from the Abbey & walks from it are superb. Thanks for showing us inside.
Thank you Faith, it was my absolute pleasure to show you inside. I think you are right that it was meant to be. One day I might do a video exploring some more of the walking trails there. I don’t think I saw it all even in six years there 🤗
I really enjoyed this Louise, it's fascinating to see the inside after seeing the outside. Also loved hearing about your time here. What an absolutely lovely place. 😍
Thank you Jesse! Really pleased that you enjoyed it. It’s so lovely that I had the opportunity to show the inside. It was. Ice to share a little about my time there and I loved looking at all my photos again which brought back so many happy memories of my time there and the lovely people I met and worked with.
Wow, Louise! I loved this tour. It would have been amazing seeing the landscape when writing at that table, with all the changes through the seasons. The views around the abbey are stunning.
Thank you Donna! Yes, it was really inspirational writing at that table. Just the best view!! It was a really fabulous and stunning place to spend 6 years.
We've never stayed at Lee Abbey but do know a of a many church groups and individuals who have and all have found their stay a blessing in one way or another. Putting time aside for a retreat has the possibility to be life changing in God's presence and Christian company, as we have found ourselves.
What spectacular views from the library and the leap. It must have felt strange returning but looks like you had a great time. Nice to see some old photographs as well. Well done!!
Thank you David! Ah yes, the library has such a spectacular view. Inspirational for writing or poetry writing or even for art or painting. It felt a little strange at first as the place was almost the same but it was filled with different people. Only a couple remain from my time there, but everyone i chatted to was lovely, both guests and community members. I connected easily with both having been on community and a guest a couple of times before.
Thank you Amanda! It really is so beautiful! I originally only went for a year, so stayed there 6 times longer than planned. I worked with so many amazing people and learned loads about catering that I have taken in to my current employment. It was only ever ‘for a season’, but did absolutely love working there and meeting many of the guests over shared meals too.
Thank you for this video, I feel very nostalgic seeing beautiful Lee Abbey again. I’ve visited several times in the past and it’s always been very special. Sadly I don’t expect I’ll be able to go there again- old age, plus dog- but it’s good to have lots of 10:24 happy memories.
That was an eye opener Thank you Louise. Then you got me curious.... Apparently the hotel was not a success due to the Great Depression. Two hoteliers could not make it work. I also found out that the boys were evacuated from a school in East Grinstead. The school building was needed by the British Army following the Dunkirk evacuation.
Thank you Cathy! Oh I am pleased that your curiosity was sparked and that you went on to research further information. Thanks so much for sharing here! 🤗
Lovely! I enjoyed a few happy family holidays here in the mid-90s so great to see it again. Do they still have the dinner gong? I used to love that as a kid...
Oh nice! They had a bell when I was there and a community member from tte kitchen would walk all around the corridors ringing the handbell to announce that dinner was almost ready! I think it was like 10 minute alert.
