There was no Pakistan before the separation form India in 1947... Indians and Pakistanis speaking 'freshie' english all have pretty much the same dialect. I think he's mistaking Pakistanis to be more from Middle Eastern regions rather than from Asia (and essentially india until 1947)... its a common ignorant mistake many people make.
I'd love to see you react to Taskmaster. Every series of the show is a clean slate, though it's best to start with the first (as you can get familiar with the format and the recurring personalities). It is a 45 minute gameshow where 5 comedians take part in a number of challenges - both pre-recorded and on-stage - all to win the favour of the task master in the form of points. Over the course of the show and series, their points add up and culminate in them winning weekly prizes brought in by the other contestants and/or the overall prize of the Taskmaster trophy. There is also an American version of the show that Alex Horne (co-host and creator of the original) also helms that aired on Comedy Central that is a little bit shorter.
@@TheClairem75 I really hated the US version, admittedly. The way they treated Alex really didn't sit right with me, but it was awesome to see his dream expand across the pond. Must've been a really wonderful experience 😊
Hey Josh, Bob Mortimer (sitting to our right of Lee) has a compilation of HIS 'Would I Lie to You' moments, I recommend this as a MUST, an instant classic with plenty of surreal "Bob" moments. Keep up the reactions, lock-down isn't as painful with these to watch. Thanks!
I adore Lee Mack. I watched him in a play a few years ago and all he had to do was stand on the stage and look at the audience and everyone was reduced to tears of laughter. He didn’t need to say a word.
Oh god if you reacted to a series of taskmaster I would die. It is by far my favourite british tv comedy show, it's kind of a panel show mixed with a game show where all the games are created by sadistic comedians. Series 7 is amazing! James Acaster and Rhod Gilbert are both in that season. The show has been picked up by one of the big tv channels now too and so will likely just get bigger and better going forwards!
Americans don't seem to understand that Asia encompasses India, Pakistan, Bangladesh as well China , Japan , Thailand etc. They also don't understand that Africa contains, Egypt, Algeria, Libya and Morocco which are mostly Mediterranean countries and not in the 'middle east' which doesn't exist geographically. Not having a go, but common misconceptions.
@@Theremedialgash to be fair when most of us (British) say Asian we just refer to the middle easter ones and refer to the rest as chinese so were not that much better.
@@XENONEOMORPH1979 What Kirsty said is quite obviously related to the video which does not include him speaking in Welsh, but English with a Welsh accent. No need to be rude, we're all here for a laugh! Love Rob.
Josh, my love, your howling laughter gets me every time. Where are you hiding your wee woman tonight? You both make for a really nice team of fun and laughter lovers.
I'm Welsh and I'm always get ripped for my accent as it's really strong. Rob Brydon the host is Welsh he's from a place called Port Talbot it's quite a strong accent but I think he tones it down a bit for TV.
Oh yeah! I think he talks about it in one of the episodes of the show where he discusses being a news anchor. Forgive me, I don't have a link or anything 😔
@@byFusKy People from Cardiff don't sound welsh at all, know one does from the city's they sound more English. my mate from Port Talbot his accent is not far off my accent and im from the valleys near Blackwood, my accent makes me sound thick/stupid haha
Watched a fair few of your videos and loved them so much I thought I'd subscribe. Very enjoyable watching your reactions to British comedies and comedians.
Bob Mortimer is the best guest to ever appear on this show, there are 2 compilation videos on here from his legendary appearances you should check them out if you get the chance
It might be a little early for Christmas related programmes, but on T4, a youth daytime show, Karl explains the nativity. The title of the youtube clip is: T4: Ricky Gervais and Karl Pilkington on the nativity
Heyy love your reactions. My favorite Would I Lie To You is this : "Mick - James Acaster’s archenemy? Lee Mack’s traded toddler? Gabby Logan’s cheated child? " You should react to it, It is so funny XD
Dude, gotta share this one with you - in Britain a bread-roll is called a cob, roll, butty, etc...except for ONE area in England, Warwickshire, where it's called a "batch". Only place in the UK where you can get an egg and bacon batch. Big up to Coventry whilst I'm here!
The Welsh accent can often be very clear. Probably the most senior BBC news presenter, Huw Edwards, is Welsh and has appeared on WILTY. I have a friend from Abergavenny who enunciates every syllable and is incredibly proud of his accent, which is strong but very clear and precise. I'm from England about 15-20 miles from Abergavenny, yet I don't sound Welsh at all, though someone from elsewhere in the UK might pick up hints of it. I think the accent in North Wales is quite different. The Welsh language though is a million miles away from English. The English language has more in common with languages in mainland western and central European countries than with Welsh. For whatever reason, the initiated can detect differences in accent and dialect between neighbouring English towns and villages. With Karl's Manchester accent think Gallagher brothers, Daphne from Frasier, Christopher Eccleston. Steve's accent is Bristolian, erm ... can't think of any other famous people with Bristol accents but the south west counties are like a pirate's accent "arghh" or perhaps one of the farmer-sounding voices, like when Steve was invited to do a voiceover for an advert and Karl took the piss saying he "thought there might be a tractor sale on". Ricky's Berkshire accent is interesting. It mostly sounds south east, like London "cockney-esque" but every now and then you'll hear him pronounce part of a word that is more south-west like Steve, because Reading is further west from London, so I can hear an occasional rural twang. Though he has definitely refined it over the years since he was on the 11 o'clock show. Actually a good recommendation if you can find it is any clips or compilations of him phoning his mum on their old XFM radio show. That was really funny and you can definitely hear strong Berkshire accents in that!
josh no joke its 6am here in the uk & you cover most of our nations favourite shows & stand-ups,im literally about to go to bed & started crying with laughter at every video ive watched of your reactions they are outstanding keep it up buddy deffo keeping me entertained anyways =)
Not sure if you've done these already but The Two Ronnies - Four Candles, Morecambe & Wise - Grieg's Piano Concerto, Only Fools & Horses - Chandelier and Bar Yuppie, Sketch Show (Not the American one) - Phobia Workshop
Keep doing the british stuff!! I love your reactions to british comedy, youv got a great sense of humor e.g you have got a British sense if humor 🤣🤣 keep up the good work mate
Stephen Merchant has a Bristol accent - a posh one but clearly Bristolian, which is one of my favourite English accents, it’s such a fun one - his accent is close to a stereotypical accent for farmers over here. Rob the host of WILTY has an quite soft Welsh accent, there are definitely some welsh accents that are difficult to understand though it just depends where your from. The vast number of accents in the UK is crazy considering how tiny it is, wait till you hear a scouse or geordie accent!
Lol nice video. Yeah we have too many funny accents! Rob has a Welsh accent but it's a kinda posh Welsh so easy to understand. But seeing as you understood Kevin Bridges' Scottish accent during the horse story, I'd say you're pretty good with accents!
The accents you are hearing on programmes such as WILTY will generally be fairly soft versions and easy to understand. There are some exceptions like Kevin Bridges (Glasgow), John Bishop (Liverpool), and Johnny Vegas (St Helens) who all speak with stronger local accents. Bridges was on Graham Norton's show and an American guest couldn't understand a word he was saying, although I think she must have been exaggerating for effect.
My husband is English and that can be a hard accent to pinpoint as there are so many different dialects. I love different accents and have an ability to pick up on one easily and start speaking in that accent as if I was born to it. The problem is I never know when I’m doing it.So,I was working at a local grocery store when a couple from Texas came in with very broad accents.I asked where they were from and if they were having a nice holiday. I live in B.C. Canada. So I’m chatting away with them when I see my daughter, who occasionally had the same shift,in the door of the lunch room, shaking her head and making slashing motions across her mouth. I knew right away that I had been speaking in their Texas accent and was able to stop. I think the wife thought I was making fun of them, frowned at me and turned and left the store! I wasn’t making fun of them and felt so bad that she thought I was.
@@ameliagibson4919 i dont know what you mean. all we had to learn in school were words like llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch 😂doesn't seem too complicated right 😏
There's a massive diversity in accents across the UK, where neighbouring towns can sound like different countries, so it's a good go to for taking the piss.
Stewart Lee's, brave heart, is the boldest bit of comedy I've ever seen. He destroys the Scottish nation, iits people, its heritage, its heroes, and its very existence, in Glasgow, in front of a Scottish audience, and still gets out alive.
Martin Clunes got fired by Sir Alan Sugar - absolutely classic clip! And Rob Brydon (the host) is very welsh, the accent is quite soft and easy to understand.
Just to help out if no one else has, Ricky’s accent is a well spoken midlands accent (he was originally from the north but doesn’t have the accent) Steve has a southern accent and Carl has a very obvious Manchester (Preston) accent 👍
Just on your point about understanding British accents; people from the same region will have strong versions of that accent, while others have a softer version, due to where they went school and how much exposure they have to a more standard English accent. For example, not everyone in New York has broad Bronx accent.
You get a point for that. Also it’s pronounced a cockney accent. Karl has a Manchester accent, steven has a Bristol accent and I don’t know where rickey is from but i think it my be London.
people make fun of Welsh in the UK because its pretty much the only living language left besides English on the isles. Its also mental. For example: Owl = Gwdihw pronounced Goo Dee Who They also have a town called Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
The thing to understand is that the U.K. has hundreds of different dialects so there is no universal Welsh accent, it depends on where in Wales you grew up and if you have toned your dialect down, so there are mild and strong versions of all dialects. We just like to make things as complicated as possible 😀
Look up on RU-vid: Would I Lie To You Lee Mack's Mug. You won't be disappointed. Anything with Bob Mortimer on WILTY is hilarious. Also Miles Jupp, especially the one about the cat.
Discovered your channel a couple days ago and can't get enough! Did Ricky Gervais's 'Extras' make it across to America? One of my favourite comedies and is for sure worth a look
Dialects are variations within a language complete with different vocabulary and grammar. Accents are only differences in how someone pronounces a word. Dialects encompasses accents.
Ricky is from Reading so he just has a normal Southern accent. Steve is from Bristol so he has a West Country accent which is know for being a farmer or pirate. And Karl is from Manchester and is northern that why Ricky calls him a manc.
You should check out some of David Mitchell’s stuff (The Beardy one on the other team). Peep show or That Mitchell and Webb Look are worth checking out.
Lee Mack and Karl Pilkington have a Manchester accent which is Northern England so they have shorter vowells like "Bath, grass, class" whereas Ricky Gervais and Steven Merchant have a Southern English accent where the vowells are longer like "Barth, grarss, clarss". Although Ricky has a more generic Southern accent where has Steve has a Bristol, West Country accent which is a bit more distinct. Rob has a pretty subtle Welsh accent but generally they're a bit more distinct than his.
