Growing up in South Florida in the 80's, we got a lot of this reverb drenched reggae on the local AM radio. Quality didn't matter, it was sounds of freedom. Maybe the sound quality doesn't match your righteous indignation but these artist were working with minimal production capabilities.

An immortal innovator of music from the Antilles, From his early work with Coxone sound and Joe Gibbs, to his production at his iconic 'Black Ark studios. A body of work second to none, from Bob Marley and the Wailers, to Junior Marvin, Max Romeo, and the upsetters, to name a few. Known for his work in Dub, his genius for me as a producer was an ability to switch a commercial sound with ease. 'Hurt so good' by Susan Cadogan and Dreamland by the Wailers featuring Bunny Wailer , are examples of this, a genius in my eyes, a one of a kind. Gone to the 'Black Ark' in the higher principality!
