I was there. Tremendous day. Great atmosphere. Intense rivalry between the players and fans. Nobody rolling around on the ground trying to get the opposition booked. Nobody screaming in the referees face. No cheating. No diving. No shyt housery. Great days.
I was 7 when this was played. The final is the first one I remember watching. Amazing how much the game has changed since. Went to Old Trafford for the first time since '78 last week to watch the women's team and the pitch was incredible. In the 70s, it would have been as bobbly and threadbare by this stage of the season as Hillsborough here.
“And that’s what brought about the penalty,,bringing him down” !! Jesus,,not Jordan’s outrageous elbow in Nichols face then that knocked him clean over !!
United started well that season and were top of the league in early October. Then Buchan got injured and they couldn't function without him. He came back in mid-December and, of the 21 league and cup matches between Christmas and mid-April, United W 16 D 3 L 2. By then they were in the FA Cup semis and they threw three or four of the remaining league matches before winning at Wembley.
You all probably dont give a shit but does someone know of a method to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would love any assistance you can give me
@Adrien Dakota Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and im in the hacking process now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Jesus that lepping lane terrace was unbelievably overcrowded!!!!!! Attendance 55000 and that was way before the kop extension in 1986 which then the attendance was brought down to 54000 with a bigger kop stand! They obviously reduced the capacity at the wrong END😡how incompetent and stupid was that😡
No kidding. I was there the year before against Derby and, if memory serves, there was no fence. There had to be more there than the official attendance that day because lads I knew slipped money to the bloke at the turnstile and just jumped over and in.
Yes the Leeds fans were involved in a crush at the same ground a couple of years before the infamous day, the warning signs were there as ive heard it happened in other semis there too...Such a shame they didn’t take heed ... The ground had been dropping to bits for years and should have never been held there...There was 60:000 easy at this game as well...!!
@@Roscoe.P.Coldchain Bollox there was 60,000 at this game. I was at it and full it was, but that ground never had the capacity for your wild guess. The crowd was 55,000. Go google the facts..
Not a bad team Leeds but they needed a golden generation, McQueen Jordan both went to Man Utd and Curie was way to gifted to fit in with Leeds work ethic!
I remember clearly in early 80s Wednesday fans jumping over the walls, kids under turnstiles...the official attendances were often far from what was really their. Officially 55k, goodness knows how many got in. Same for semis. wonder how many got in to the stadium then.
Push on Hill at 26:07, no penelty. Imagine the chaos today? A hard game put players and commentators just got on with it. Both have a lot to answer for.
