I wish there was a love button. This is the best in depth walk through I have seen. I have been eating to try and make one but have no idea where to start but watching yours has helped explain how

Good job Jeff! Just a note to any one who might be wanting to build one of these circa 2016 and on, the Home Depot skeleton has a much larger spine than the Costco PnS that I think most have been using the last few years and from what I can see would make it a lot easier to run whatever pipe or rod up into the skeleton you want to use.

Good info! Thanks, Scott!

I would like to add that the Costco PnS and I have a lot of them, is a better quality product overall from what I can tell. While the HD one has a larger spine, the rest of it, while OK, just isn't a nicely detailed as the PnS! I bought a couple of the HD one's this year that's why I noticed the larger spine but if you want a better skeleton for something else look for the one's in the box and I've only seen those at CVS this year, though I wasn't really looking earlier this season. Just don't have a need for the pirate one's Costco was selling! Hope they go back to the regular one's next year!

Hi, love this prop so much I’m taking a stab at making my own. Im using a Costco pose n stay - I’m wondering if you broke and repositioned the head to improve eye contact because mine looks like he’s scouring the ground for lost change 🤣
@scareatogascreams
@scareatogascreams 4 года назад
I love your description of his head pose! Yes, I did pull his head off his neck support, and hot-glue it in place at the new angle.

Here you go uploaded to google drive. - I’m setting him in a Cedar playhouse in front on the yard that’s being made over into a pirate lookout. he will actually be backwards. Hope you like him. drive.google.com/file/d/1Yqd7f_2xJeMxxnc92LDq_b1cRgTflBt5/view?usp=drivesdk

awesome anamatronic! do you know where to find some of the reindeer motors some use for props? I have plenty of wiper motors from other props I've used. Would just like to know where they get the other motors from. Best wishes from Cali.
@scareatogascreams
@scareatogascreams 7 лет назад
Thanks Jason. I believe the best place to find the animated deer motors is an online retailer called Kindy's. I've placed a link to the site below, hope that is what you're looking for. www.kindys.com/products/decorating-accessories/replacement-motors/replacement-motor-48-animated-buck

Hello! Your design is awesome and has been my guide for my first animated Halloween build. Thanks! I had a question on the wire that you used to reinforce the arm: What gauge wire is that? How is it sold, i.e. in rod lengths, rolls, etc?
@scareatogascreams
@scareatogascreams Год назад
Thanks! Sorry I didn't reply to this earlier. I think I located it in the metal section at Lowe's with some of their other metal rods, but to be honest it's been so long that I don't recall where it came from at this point. The larger hardware stores sell metal rods of various diameters, and as I recall I think I just selected the smallest diameter available (1/8 inch maybe?). I won't have that prop accessible to me in the near future or else I'd check and get you exact measurements on thickness. Hope that helps.

great prop, would like to build one myself, was wondering about the height of the 2x4 you used to to hold the pvc tube on for the tombstone height. thanks
@scareatogascreams
@scareatogascreams 5 лет назад
I went and measured, and the 2x4 running up the back of the tombstone with the PVC braces attached on my build is 31 inches long. The top of the 2x4 comes up to about 1/2 inch below the top of the tombstone. In case you need it, the box housing the mechanism is 6 inches deep. Hope that helps!

How did you wire the car windshield washer to AC power? GREAT video and prop.
@scareatogascreams
@scareatogascreams 3 года назад
It's been awhile since I built this, but if I recall correctly the motor came already wired for AC power from the Monster Guts web store www.monsterguts.com/.

This is a great prop and how to. But how do you lift it to move it and/or to put it into storage without it breaking?
@scareatogascreams
@scareatogascreams 4 года назад
I lift the skeleton off first, then take off the tombstone, leaving just the box frame and post. I then carry those pieces individually back to the basement for storage.

@@scareatogascreams Hi. Many thanks for the reply. I always saw the foam as the most likely and easiest thing to break off when moving the prop to & fro. And that put me off wanting to build one. Best wishes to you and yours. 👍

Can I get the measurements size of the box the armature fits in? Trying to replicate this using a old pirates chest but trying to make sure the mechanism fits inside. Thanks!
@scareatogascreams
@scareatogascreams 7 лет назад
Sure. The box containing the motor and armature has interior dimensions of 22 inches by 18 inches, and is 6 inches tall. The foam tombstone surrounding the box is attached to the exterior of that wooden framework.
