For those who read the comic, Bill didnt have any family or friends by this time for obvious reasons. Bill's sacrifice for his familly - Francis, Lois, Zoey- shall not be forgotten. Rest in peace soilder, you'll not only be in the hearts of your new family, but in ours as well.

This song is bringing up so many memories of me and my friend playing L4D all day and never getting tired of it oh how I miss those days

The Sacrifice and Passing feels like two of the different stages of grief: Depression and Acceptance. The sacrifice’s title has some blood in it, referring to the sacrificed killed, causing despair and hopelessness to the other survivors who had lost their man. The Passing’s title is a bit more cheerful and is in the style of one of the neon shop names, signifying the acceptance that not everyone will live to the end and that the survivors should move on from there

The song just signals the theme where the first game's characters story's end and the second game's characters story is just beginning. The passing can reference the passing of Bill, but it also references how the first game's survivors pass the torch to the other survivors. They're no longer strong enough to fight since they lost a man, but the other survivors are. They will continue to fight for them. For Zoey, Louis, Francis and Bill. Don't worry, Nick, Ellis, Coach and Rochelle is here to take over. And they're ready to give hell.

I don't think anyones said this, but the first lyrics of the song are literally stating the plot of L4D2 following the Passing. Sweet Georgia fades away (dead center in the afternoon, the passing in the evening, and dark carnival that night) We'll be burning down Louisiana the very next day (stumbling over the stateline through swamp country that same night, getting gas for virgil the next morning, and literally burning down a bridge in new orleans the next day)

Now I wish the Midnight Riders were real...

Cried a tiny bit knowing where this plays. And the fact that Jim kicked the bucket. The song seemingly has a hopeful but melancholy tone to it as well, which is why it seems a little sad but encouraging. Like Bill’s sacrifice.
