ABOUT GEORGE GALLOWAY:
Few contemporary politicians have attracted as much controversy as George Galloway. A Labour MP from 1987 to 2003, he was an outspoken critic of the policies of Tony Blair and New Labour, in particular the decision to invade Iraq. Fiery comments such as "the best thing British troops can do is to refuse to obey illegal orders" saw Galloway expelled from the Labour Party. But Galloway returned to the political fray by founding the Respect Party and winning Bethnal Green and Bow in the 2005 General Election. Mr Galloway re-entered Parliament in this March as MP for Bradford West and has recently provoked controversy and criticism with his comments on the rape charges against Wikileaks' Julian Assange.

I don't agree with Mr Galloway on many issues, but I do support his stance on free speech and the right of the electorate. It is refreshing to see an intelligently framed question and you can see Mr Galloways relief and appreciation that at least somebody can put forward a point without it attacking his or the views of others.

Galloway is right, Labor is not socialist, not a left party, not a labor party, that's why Russell Brand was soo right when he said there's no point in voting but! I would counter if you want a truly progressive socialist, environmentalist party then vote and support the Respect Party, the Greens, SWP because they are what Labor used to be in terms of socio-economics but now also anti-imperialist.

Define capitalism.. Do not think that the current rules of the game are heaven or hell sent. They are put into being by humans. The framework is designed by decisions and laws. The framework can be changed. Disruptive powers still exist mostly I want to believe through technological push. Better functional financial operating systems can be put into place. The current one is in dire need of an update. And there are options. Arnold

Government intervened after the problem. In some ways for the worse, the banks shouldn't have been bailed out imo, it would have required a restructuring of the system... but what do you think the banking sector is? There was too much deregulation towards the banks, and what happened? They got greedy and screwed the world up. What do you think the banking sector is? It's a cornerstone of the current capitalist system.

@@jacquescro-magnon1440 yes, in the united states at least it is. In the next few days 66% of renters in the US will have no way to pay rent and be evicted from their homes. The Senate failed to get a plan across to prevent this in time. Even before that, the majority of US citizens were living pay check to pay check and barley getting by with 2 minimum wage jobs. The privatization of health care in the US has caused millions to go bankrupt if they are not able to get health insurance which is bad cause we are in a pandemic.

The only solution is to tax on assets (list could be considered, not basic needs-related assets) like jewelry (more than a certain amount), as these assets are kept but not used for the welfare of society, only income tax like things resulted in a lot of assets in some hands, whether you like Islam or not, even you are an atheist, we can take an idea from anywhere if it is good, Zakat (search the term if you don't know the word) like system can resolve the problem. I invite all of you, particularly, with economic background, to consider it.

Yeah you're right, but there has to be some regulation on the banks otherwise this would be a frequent occurrence. I guess my stance on it would be because the government wasn't left-wing :P Labour party went from Labour > new-Labour > anti-Labour. Not really a labour party at all. But you're absolutely right. The thing is, a capitalist society would be far more prone to this kind of problem.

Galloway makes some great points, however the looming issue is that the respectable working class in the UK is dying out - people no longer have a sense of responsibility and feel entitled to every possible right without laboring for them.
