Legacy Titan TIDAL WAVE: EmGo's Transformers Reviews N' Stuff 

If I had a nickel for every gray and purple Decepticon Titan with a self-destructing ratchet in his legs, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Man I remember the old Armada game on the ps2 and the end credits had Tidal wave doing pushups which was hilarious

Ahh, the Great Space Boat. At least in Armada his vocabulary went beyond just saying his name over and over again. Almost like he was trying to remind himself who he was 😅

I was a little disappointed to see a report that Titan Tidal Wave can't transform between robot mode and combined-dreadnaught mode without separating, but ... honestly? Given just how freaking BIG he is? Combined transformation would've been too dangerous, and this guy's bringing plenty as it is. Got my fingers crossed about the knee ratchets though ... thanks for the tips on how to fix that, and as always, thanks for the review as a whole!

I never thought that any robot the size of CW Devastator is "too small". As someone who lives in a 900 square ft. condo, I need my bots to NOT all be so big!

I'm so excited for this guy. And the fact that he is a Titan makes me even more excited! I've been wanting a new tidal way figure since the original back in Armada. What's also cool is that that box art is inspired by the boss battle you fought against this guy in the PS2 Armada game. That boss battle is burned into my memory from when I was a kid. I still catch myself humming the boss theme sometimes.

The Super-dreadnought combined mode looks just like something the Space Battleship Yamato would fight.

Fun Fact: Tidal Wave's deco is based on his purple and grey appearance in the cartoon but with orange detailing on his windows and other elements inspired by his Legends of the Microns toy

Generations metroplex was over 10 years ago , we're lucky Tidal Wave isnt half the size now the way inflation was going after the pandemic.

24:55 The figure, when turning into it's combined alt mode, has a nice homage to the armada ps2 game, where you can actually see Tidal Wave's head/face in the mid-Atlantic level, after you get inside his battleship mode.

My only complaint with this Transformer, and I'm surprised that no reviewer who's video I've watched has not pointed this out, is that he does not transform from ship to robot the way the 03 Armada release did without parts-forming. Just for clarity, I'm not referring to him breaking apart to form the Dark Fleet. I'm just referring to him being able to transform from ship to robot mode. Other than that, this guy looks AMAZING!!

I feel like, just unscrewing the top screw at the knee halfway (or a quarter) might give the knee more room to flex, if the problem is tension, and if it pops in half when you start unscrewing it anyway.

seeing the mini armor mode for Megatron, I kinda wonder if the mini dark fleet could have been made to combine into a mini tidel wave ? and keep up the awesome and entertaing videos Emgo !

I think for the mini dark fleet they wanted to do a mini tidal wave but couldn’t due to the budget

Got mine today from BBTS. One thing I noticed is that when you remove the pieces from the arms/aircraft carriers, you can rotate around the thumb section and it's thick enough to simulate fingers with the cannon serving as a thumb. Didn't actually look at the instructions, either, as I was able to figure him out pretty well.

Seems like a missed opportunity to not have the mini dark fleet combine into a mini Tidal Wave

Welp, even with the overwound spring, I'll still get it. I'll just perform some surgery as soon as I get him, just like with Trypticon. His height bothers me a teeeeny bit, but Emgo saying that he makes up for it in heft tempers that disappointment somewhat. Also, a third option for knee repair; take the spring and compress and release for 10-15 minutes. That works out some of the tension of the spring and usually achieves the same result. I did that for my Trypticon (and his infamous exploding hips) and it worked wonders. From what I've seen on TFW2005, this should work for this figure too.

Man it would have been such a call back for me if you compared Tidal Wave to Knight Morpher Cyclops.

That combination with Megatron reminds me of when I've got to transport a canoe from one body of water to another by foot. His chin is in competition with American Dad immensity.

Not a fan of the base mode, but everything else about Tidal Wave is amazing looking. Seriously can’t wait for mine to eventually arrive.

Looks like anyone that did the upgrade for Megatron’s shoulders arent entirely screwed because of how Tidal Wave’s backpack attaches to Megatron

Fantastic Transformers collection

Tidal Wave is my favorite Armada figure, so I was very much looking forward to this. But man, my favorite feature isn't on the titan. Love the rising deck hangar on the original for the minicon jet. I wish they had incorporated that somehow, even with a little jet partner or something.

They absolutely nailed it with this figure. Love your reviews. How long until we get the Energon repaint, you think? I can't wait to scoop both Tidal Wave. Always been one of my favorite characters and two part episode. My dad passed recently and I want to build a Diorama of all the voyager fighter Jetformers and Two Tidal Wave vs Two TopG Maverick figures since he served on a ship that launched jets and TopG is his favorite movie and Transformers was what we bonded over most. I miss you, old man. You're gone way too soon ❤.

This is the third review video i have watched about this figure and it looks like the two halves of the hovercraft not staying connected is also the universal issue. But i never heard about the knee joint issue being brought up until this video. Still excited to get mine though😁.

I'm seriously impressed - Those little mini-Dark Fleet components do so much stuff, I'm almost surprised they didn't just go the whole the nine yards and have them combine into a little mini-Tidal Wave! Probably gonna wait to see if they fix those knee ratchets in a later run, though...

Wasn't going to ask about how he scales to Metroplex. Trypticon and the SDF-1 on the other hand.

So this explains why they made Megatrons shoulder hinges work they way they do. Super hyped for this to come out!

I've always thought of Omega Supreme was a good rival to Tidel Wave, both are huge carriers/guardians of their factions, both now have base modes and finally you dont want to be stepped on by either of them. Lol. Thanks and have a great day

Honestly, that's a really clever workaround for keeping Tidal Wave as the colossus he's supposed to be in canon while also making it so that he can combine with Megatron.

He will give you one hell of a thumbs up.

Even with a few disappointments (slightly smaller than other titans, can't transform from combined alt to robot without parts forming, no Ramjet buddy even when previous titans had Minicons partners) I can't help but love this dude, can't wait to get one for myself. I'd never played a game where the boss at the end of the level *is* the level...

I admit, as much as I would love to see the mini sections combine to form a mini Tidal Wave, that's asking for too much, so I can live without. What I CAN'T live without however, is the fact that he evidently can't go from 'bot mode straight to super ship mode! That was arguably the coolest feature of the original toy!

I never watched or collected Armada but it looks like a good figure and the combined alt mode looks great.

I look forward to getting this one day.

I think I remember seeing something about how the leftover thumb on the big robot, after removing the Megatron add-ons, can be rotated 180 and the weird flat thumb becomes a fake smaller hand and the cannon becomes a fake smaller thumb so he can still look like a complete robot.

Maybe they will come out with a Legacy Thunderblast figure.

Man I shouldn't have watched this video because I wanted him before but now I REALLY want him. And having missed the boat on Nemesis I'm more in a rush to get this guy.

Just to stack up on things, I really wish they have the Skyboom Shield and Requiem Blaster made for the Legacy line just to give us Overkill Megatron, which is Burning Megatron (the Tidal Wave combo) with the three Mini-Con weapons added.

I should still have my OG Tidal Wave somewhere. One of my favorites because of the ability of the altmode to separate, and I'm so glad that this version retains that functionality and is actually posable, too, though I can't justify the $200 for the figure either way. (So far the only $100+ Hasbro release in recent years I've found tempting enough to maybe splurge on it was the HasLab Legacy RiD Prime + Ultra Magnus, because I have a special attachment to that mold, as it was the very first toy I picked up when I started collecting Transformers again as an adult.)

I can only imagine the upgrade kit... Edit: I'd rather cut the spring; less expensive.

The knee issue sounds like the same one that plagued Trypticon. You think HASBRO would have learned.

Amazing how the carrier part look with a micormaster aircraft would that be alittle closer to scale, Cool idea how to mass shift him to combine with Megs thou it leaves parts of the big guy looking odd. A great upgrade to the classic and more in size with what he was in the cartoon. I bet Toyhax will go nuts with a set of lables for him in time.

Would’ve been cool if they found a way to make the mini pieces have their own mini tidal wave mode but overall it’s still a cool figure.

Hasbro will make a voyager a leader by adding some small plastic, but when they take away 5 inches they keep it a titan, nice

There's a third solution... You can replace the spring. You can either buy them separately or if you have junk Transformers for for custom making I'm sure there's a spring that may fit... Pretty much what I had to do with Triptacon
