Probably the most unique and technically accomplished player ever and has been for decades yet somehow he is still practically unknown. How is that possible? How?
It takes a ton of money to market an artist properly. It’s having the resources and contacts to make a big splash. If you don’t have that It’s unlikely it’s ever going to happen for anyone no matter how exceptional they are.
@@19barker31 No matter how much money you'd put into marketing this type of music I still seriously doubt you could ever succeed in making it appealing to the masses. This type of stuff is an acquired taste for guitar geeks like us that can appreciate the technical wizardry that goes into it. Like Shawn Lane's and Holdsworth's free live improv's for instance. The fact that it is unknown does not rule out that it could be enjoyable and influential for us...
Wish I had the chance to hear & meet him. I sometimes feel his exceptional improvising & creative genius was misunderstood. Holdsworth was incredibly deep.
@@LawofThree I never thought I'd meet a guitarist mentioning Salvatore Accardo (: I mean it's obvious your influences are outside the box of a typical player, I don't think I've heard anything like your playing anywhere. Good luck with your release, I'm intrested to see how it turns out.
This is awesome no doubt but Holdsworth's huge hands is what really makes his stuff insanely difficult. That and his brain. He wrote some of the oddest stuff. I call them finger twisters. 😅 It takes a while to even "see" the shapes. Those chords though!!! 😬 Edit - this is the first I've seen of Roy though so maybe he's even more insane.
