They were never broadcasting it live, only highlights of it a week or so after the event for the British Rally Championship competitors on the event

It's all down to when you personally feel rallying was best. All through the years people have been rallying in cars that a few years earlier were competing on the world championship events, be that Escorts, Group A Subarus, Quattros, 6R4s, World Rally Cars etc, there have always been people there with the best cars that money can buy, but it was only ever a handful of people who had them and were winning events. Even up to around 10 years ago if you wanted to win a BTRDA round or similar then you needed a World Rally Car, and a small handful of people had them, but these days to win a rally you need a Rally2 car, and on this event alone there were probably 40+ of them, they are expensive, as with everything in the sport, but in terms of how many people have the budget and the car capable of winning an event or championship, the number is way higher now than it probably ever has been, and if you have an event with 40+ crews starting in cars capable of winning, talent is what shines through, not budget. You may well think that the modern cars are boring, and that is your opinion so it is correct for you, but others will think they are exciting and will dislike the old cars from the 70s & 80s, their opinions isn't wrong either, it is all about personal preference, but one thing is for sure, the sport certainly hasn't lost its way, it has just evolved, and will keep doing so
