However, the scene of him leaving on his shuttle is newly introduced, if my memory is correct (forgive me, I don't think anyone can keep all that information inside of their heads for that long) 2) Karin's song is taken from the book

@@sirchasm Thank you very much for the answers. 1) I was more referring to his character's backstory rather to how he escaped from the battle of Isherlohn. I always thought that book would shed more light about why he is the way he is, like with Reuenthal. But I guess that's the essence of the character: no one really knows what's going on in his head. My headcanon is that he got more screwed by the nobility than Reinhard. 2) The melody that the OVA added is really cute.

@@cellperfecto421 I can't recall how the anime handled it, but I have the English translation of the first novel, and Oberstein's escape is portrayed in two scenes - one setting the stage, the other a description of his escape shuttle departure. The first scene here takes place as Seeckt learns that Iserlohn has had a "mutiny" and is requesting assistance: "Putting out the fire at our feet has priority. All ships head back to Iserlohn immediately." "Wait just a moment," someone replied to von Seeckt's order. The voice was so quiet as to cast a pall of gloom over the bridge, and yet it riveted the entire room. When von Seeckt saw the officer who had come out before him, an expression welled up on his face of open hatred and opposition. That salt-and-pepper hair, those pale cheeks - it's Captain von Oberstein again! "I don't recall asking your opinion, Captain." "I am aware of that. If I may, however?" "...What do you want?" "This is a trap. I think it may be better not to return." Von Seeckt was silent for a long moment. Without a word, the commander drew in his lower jaw and glared hatefully at an unpleasant subordinate who said unpleasant things in an unpleasant tone of voice. "It appears to me that every little thing is a trap in your eyes." "Excellency, please listen." "That's enough out of you! All ships, come about and head for Iserlohn at combat velocity two. The continuation of Oberstein's story comes five pages later, as the Alliance is looking to wipe out Seeckt's forces.) "Gunners! Concentrate fire on the enemy flagship!" It was the first time Yang had ever given an order this incisive. Frederica and Schonkopf stared at their commander, each with their own expression. "This is the last barrage. If they lose the flagship, the rest of them will run." With great care, the gunners targeted their quarry. Countless arrows of light were unleashed by the imperial force, but not even one had any effect. The sights were aligned perfectly. And that was when a single escape shuttle was ejected from the stern of the imperial flagship. The humble fleck of silver quickly melted away into the blackness. Had anyone noticed it? After the space of another breath, rounded pillars of light came stabbing through the darkness a third time. [I'm skipping a couple paragraphs to focus back on Oberstein.] In the midst of them [fleeing imperial ships] was the shadow of the escape shuttle carrying Captain von Oberstein. As it advanced on semi-autopilot, he cast a glance back at the spherical shape of the colossal fortress that was dwindling in the distance. In the moment before his death, did Admiral von Seeckt yell "Hail to His Imperial Majesty" or some such? How absurd. Only the living can retaliate. Ah well, von Oberstein murmured in his heart. If he had leadership skills and the power to get things done in addition to his resourcefulness, he could take the likes of Iserlohn back anytime. Or even if they left Iserlohn in the alliance's hands as things stood, it would lose all its value when the alliance itself was destroyed. Whom should he choose? There was no one with talent among the blue-blooded aristocrats. Should he pick that young, blond-haired fellow - that Count Reinhard von Lohengramm? There didn't seem to be anyone else... Threading past the stricken, fleeing ships of her comrades, the shuttle flew away through the midst of the night. (That is the full description of Oberstein's role in the takeover of Iserlohn by FPA forces.)

I can't help but made a note to myself about Reinhard's death in this way; how his illness was described as a "burning" of his body/soul, how he seems to see his own death as a consequence of Kircheis' death, and how Kircheis has been associated with fire; hair like flame, or molten ruby, or how the hero Siegfried, whose name he bore, made his fame by jumping across fire, and how that hero's lover Brunhilde has throw herself onto Siegfried's funeral pyre out of grief. In a way, I kinda see Reinhard's death as a parallel to Brunhilde being consumed by Siegfried's funeral pyre.

Glad you enjoyed it! Can't shake off the regret from messing up two attributions, though :( To be honest, I have only seen a glimpse of it (4-7 episodes), so do not consider this to be a well-informed opinion on the subject, but I get the feeling that in a way the difference between the two is very close to that of Full Metal Alchemist and FMA: Brotherhood. In that, the first one is very drama-focused, and the second one is not. Character and sound design aside, this could be a byproduct of the fact that-if my memory serves me right-they decided to not include bits and pieces from gaidens the way vanilla LOGH did. For example, the whole Jessica bit is very dehydrated. My future content is going to be very random and mostly game-focused :) In the end, It's just a dumpster for my thoughts and experiences with things, but it definitely feels better when there's someone out there who can appreciate this burnable waste of mine.

@@sirchasm I sort of get a Pre-reboot vs Post-reboot Star Trek vibe from Die Neue These though not quite to the extent of Star Trek. It feels flashier and more melodramatic to me both as strength and it's detriment. I think the attempts at streamlining the material isn't nearly as even as it could've been. Like the world and cast of characters end up feeling smaller since there's less time spent on them kind of. Tho that might be my bias speaking since I am a huge fan of those two episodes in the ova covering the empire preparing for the fpa invasion and the fpa's perspective during it. I still think DNT is a fair adaptation that somewhat lives up to the material despite lacking in aspects which again might be my bias toward the ovas speaking. Hey nobody's perfect and you're using it to improve. That's still a win. And you should do whatever content ya feel like, the Tube's here for exactly that reason. For peeps to share their content with others whatever that maybe. I'm just glad to see LoGH get some fairly well made loVe in this sphere.

I guess it just goes to show how well-cultured most of the people who love this anime are (please go crazy in the next comment to maintain the balance of the universe) :) We old timers are all biased when it comes to Neue These, but you can definitely see that both teams are doing their best to respect the universe, and I guess in the end that's all that matters. Alright, let's do this: 1. -the scene with Dwight Greenhill visiting his wife's grave I actually wanted to include that one, but then started to feel paranoid that this scene actually was in the novels and decided to just drop it. I literally spent hours looking for something to back it up (or, to be more precise, trying to connect the dots scattered around the book to make an informed decision that this scene is definitely not out of the books) only to understand that I'm wasting too much time on it. So I decided to exclude this one out of fear of mentioning something without solid evidence. To be fair, this is probably the only time I did it throughout the whole video. 2. -Kessler's introduction He's an important character both in the books and in the anime, that's all I can say. However, he gets more screen time, that's for sure. It's all about that character permeation. 3. -Flegel and Muckenberger If my memory is correct, there's nothing more from the decalogy pertaining to these two. As a character, he looks slightly more honorable in the series, if you ask me. 4. Was it a conscious decision on your part to neglect the narrative nuance added between Lobos and Sitolet? If I understand correctly which part you mean here-indeed it was. I decided that they managed to deliver this information in one way or another in the series. I'm glad a well-informed fan such as yourself enjoyed this video :)

@@sirchasm Thank you as well! The effort on display is mindboggling! Also, near the 1.5 hour mark you mention the OVA skipping a De Villier scene where the man expresses his disapproval of Fork. While true, isn't there an additional animated sequence following his visit to Fork's new room, where he tells his followers that "this man thinks he will go down in history..." (paraphrasing) Those two skipped paragraphs mentioned seems to be hinted at in this scene, but like you say, without spoiling too much.

Basically you need to create a .mogrt with 2 scrolling text fields that have feathered mask on it. You'll need a lot of small hacks to make that .mogrt work. The key is to create simple JS logic that will control the scrolling based on the "final position" value you'll have in your .mogrt. You won't be able to highlight 2 parts of the text though due to UI limitations. Or maybe I wasn't smart enough to make it better. Hope that helps 🎩

I think it all boils down to the way you perceive the whole story. I'd argue that the Terraists are just another party involved in power struggle that uses brainwashing and religious motives to achieve its goals. When you brainwash someone, there's a high chance he/she will become one-dimensional, or-in your words-"evil." People who lead the Terraists, however, are anything but one-dimensional. De Villie is clearly a man who simply uses what resources he was given to achieve his goals. He clearly despises religious blindness. And he's just the way he is in the book, if you ask me. The final chapter of the decalogy only slightly elaborates on his last move @1:56:01, further proving that this man was only interested in whatever would benefit him the most. Just as Trunicht drained the FPA only to increase his own influence, Reinhardt used this organization called "the Galactic Empire" to apply his own vision which occasionally proved to be just and reformative (non-destructive). Believing in mythological constructs created by organizations is a sure way to hell :) Hope that answers your question

The novels have much more detail in it, some devoted to further explanation of the LotGH universe. I do think these details are important if you wish to understand how the FPA vs Galactic Empire operates (like why FPA buildings tend to be more utilitarian while the Empire's architecture tend to be more impractical). Other details further expound on each characters philosophy. In the novels, Yang Wen-li was shown to be much more critical of religion akin to the New Atheism wave of the 1990s that has no longer any bearing whatsoever in our present time.

Not sure what you imply here, but I sure did. Though, compared to the main story, I only watched them like once or twice and a long time ago. There are many reasons why this particular analysis only briefly mentions Gaidens when necessary: 1. Gaidens (the novels) are not translated into English, which prevents me from showing you the way things are in the books the way I did throughout the video. However, that did not prevent me from mentioning the parts from the main story that were based on gaidens. 2. This video is already too long for that. 3. And, probably, the main reason-in my humble opinion, gaidens are not as interesting as the main story.
