This is definitely my favorite Zelda game. It was the first one I ever played and it really introduced me to the world of Zelda. I had so many great times playing this game. I loved Midna, the characters, turning into a wolf, and the story was incredible. Twilight Princess was much better than Ocarina of Time. Ocarina of Time is amazing and is my second favorite but I feel like it's overrated. Twilight Princess beats them all.
OOT was a big change in comparison to all the games on its age. The industry just started with 3D games and OOT create a lot of new concepts and gameplay, that is why was so great. TP was good game, but in comparison to the game on its age was not a big innovation, also feels like "the same" but better. So, if you compare them directly, of course TP is superior. Now you have BOTW, which is better in almost everything (except maybe in "history" and "bosses"), but it still represent a big step forward in the industry for open world games, becoming a reference game to create a real open world, in the same way that OOT becomes a reference when you create a 3D adventure. I hope BOTW 2 get more deep in the history of the game and I hope it give us a really amazing big boss. Regards!
TigerTabCat1 I’ve always liked TP Link’s voice way better than any other Link. OOT Link’s voice (adult) is fine, WW Link’s voice is adorable, MM Link’s voice is VERY ANNOYING, SS Link’s voice is bad, and BOTW Link’s voice is pretty good.
Why did Nintendo change Nobuyuki Hiyama's voice? I will never get over that. (I will never believe when they say it was because it's another Link from another timeline)
This came out the same year as Okami. While I think Okami is a better Zelda-style game, I wonder if it's just a coincidence that both heavily featured wolf-based combat.
dem kurlz I just said TP and Okami came out the same year. Do you think they would design an entire mechanic with assets based on an underselling game from a few months prior to TP's release?
_Ōkami_ originally released as a PlayStation 2 exclusive in 2006, and at the time the Xbox and GameCube were pretty much struggling. It took a couple of years before the game was eventually ported to the Wii with enhanced controls. _Twilight Princess_ was intended to be the GameCube's swan song, but Nintendo decided to port the game to Wii as well, and release the Wii version first as a launch title, even though it was a mirrored version of the GameCube release, the way the game was originally designed.
I have this on my Nintendo power DVD from the time. I guess mine automatically went to 16:9 when I last watched it. Also it was brighter to show me how awful the wolf link transformation was
There's a premium video series called GameTapes where they talk over old videos. I don't know why they upload the raw videos to youtube when most youtube subscribers aren't premium members.
+Dan Richardson Indeed! We need more reviewers like Jeff. Who can point out a game's flaws but also praise the game too. Some people think his 8.8 score was low lol.
They're currently running a series called game tapes where they rewatch their old direct captures from publishers or events. A lot of this stuff hasn't been uploaded to the internet in a high quality, so they upload each clean individual segment after they film a gametapes episode.
Replay it and pay attention to every little thing in it and you'll see. I don't want to have to repeat all the things down on another RU-vid comment. The games' really fun anyway and even if it wasn't as original as Windwaker (Which it actually is, the only big thing Windwaker does differently from it is the ocean) not every entry in an installment needs to have a huge game changing element to be a great installment without being considered a rehash. Even then though to say TP is a copy paste of OOT without any substantial improvements or differences to the formula is just ignorant. Each 3D Zelda game has one large gameplay element that makes it stand out from the other. Ocarina of Time had time travel, Majora's Mask had a timer set above the whole game and instant game over for it running out, Windwaker had sailing, Twilight Princess had Wolf Link, and Skyward Sword had flying. While I will agree that Wolf Link isn't as fleshed out as he could have been he still has plenty of versatility and more than enough gameplay uses and optional sections that make him fun to play as as well as a worthwhile inclusion. The game also has several things in it that do not happen in Ocarina of Time both gameplay wise and plot wise and the only reason people call it an Ocarina of Time rehash over Majora's Mask or Windwaker is because of the more realistic graphical style and riding Epona around Hyrule Field. That is not a valid reason to label it as such. Twilight Princess isn't an Ocarina of Time copycat or a rehash at all. Like it or not it just isn't.
Looking back, Twilight Princess is a soulless game with some cool ideas... But that's about it. And that HD remaster did it no favours. But hey, at least it was better than Skyward Sword. Holy shit.
I pretty much agree with you. I remember when the game first came out. I heard nothing but great things about it, other than the motion controls being a bit clunky. But then suddenly, just like every other Zelda game and many others like Skyrim and Final Fantasy XIII, they get completely shat on by everyone with a keyboard after a year or so of release. Don't know why that happens. Then the sequel for those come out, and the same thing happens: people love it for about 6 months, then forget about it, then hate it.
