am I the only one absolutely losing it over this guy signaling his entire escape? he gave about 300 yards notice with a correct signal that he was going to take an offramp at 120mph
I'm hew here ... what was the point of the GPS tracker if your just going to keep chasing? Also ... any idea what ever happened to the grapple hook or the device that was going to shut cars down that police had suggested like 20 years ago?
@@notme2daytheres a video of some cops using it during a pursuit on RU-vid. It's expensive and it's bulky. Not really practical to have on a bunch of your patrol cars.
This guy is amazing. He drives, talks, stays cool as a cucumber, darts a car while driving 100mph, pits perfectly. He found his true purpose in life. Plus he looks pretty darned young.
The look on the faces of these drivers when they are finally stopped after leading officers on miles long pursuits at 120MPH plus is always simply astonishing.
@@C0MPUTERPHILEToday's NASCAR yes. It's a snooze fest. In the past though there was some real racing. F1 goes in a circle too and NASCAR has road tracks as well. The more you know ...
Wow, you weren't kidding. The whole time it seemed like he was in complete control and knew exactly what he could get from his cruiser and how to get it.
1. Did not know they had tracking darts; kinda cool. 2. Thanks driver for leaving your left blinker on so we could see you in the video. 3. Byrd must go through a lot of vehicles due to damage.
I am dying here he was literally on his phone while they were pitting him that was absolutely hilarious and he looks surprised like oh I'm being pulled over.
@@EliasHernandez-ov2jz Right exactly lol. I have never seen somebody talking on their phone up to their ear while they're in a Chase with the police when you think you've seen it all
Some say his mother gave birth to him in the passenger seat of a secret police unit Charger being tested in Area 51 during the mid-1980s… Others believe he’s a Formula 1 driver who simply became tired of the no-contact rules. All we know is.. HIS NAME IS BYRD!
@@Vinlaell Nah they invented it for every police cars years ago but never really been put into service. And it's main purpose was to make high speed chases history by tagging the car, letting the suspect believe they escaped and slow down, then converge on their position with multiple police cars to block them off. Unfortunately they are using it only as a tool to assist their high speed chases in case they get lost too much behind and have no air survelliance. There is also a much more efficient tool being made around the same times back in somewhere like 2015. There is a net attached to the in front of the police car, police gets close to the suspect and extends the device forward. On contact with tire it just gets strangles the tire and leaves a hardened rope behind it that is attached to the police car. Then police car gradually slow down and there is nothing the fleeing car can do since one of it's tire is strangled and also got reverse towed to another car, well, not unless it's the kind of car Dominic Toretto would admire 😅😅 Unfortunately they are not using it since they love to chase people at high speeds while giving preaches to public how it endangers public...
@@apolloscouter In reality the Grappler Bumper, the device to which you're referring, is in use at agencies mostly out west, including NM state police and US Border patrol. It's use is expanding. Also, Starchase (the GPS tracking dart) is far from "never really been put into service", it is in use across the country.
@partybunnie6350 That net device you are talking about is an incredibly stupid and dangerous idea. Most people being chased at high speed by the cops are not going to just allow themselves to be stopped that way. 2 massive objects moving at high speed is a recipe for disaster. Tie them together, and it is a guaranteed disaster.
It was mighty nice of the Audi driver to keep his turn signals lit up like a beacon to continuously announce his whereabouts. Another “brilliant” pillar of society. 🙄
@@XDMIIIIIIIII I guess the same reason the "keyboard killers" are the same demographic, unless they're in public or armed in a school full of innocent, defenseless children.
Classic ending.. He must have been calling his Mamma telling her that he's going to be really late for a couple of months. He will receive a courteous driver award from ASP for signaling the entire pursuit.
Shooting that dart was nothing more than counting coup for Byrd. Next he was going to pull up and apply a bumper sticker and write ‘wash me’ on the back windshield, but it was getting late..
What’s the point of a #tracking-dart if you’re still gonna drive dangerously fast through an active work zone and INSIDE of it while men work!!!??? Byrd is an asshole
Trooper byrd, the cop that apexes street turns like a damn racetrack time and time again, pushing that ppv charger tires to their absolute limits. What a driver. Limited so much by the vehicle he is equipped with
@@rodimusmaximus3912 I think he just made a joke saying "do some cares legit have indicators in some countries?" as in nobody ever indicates anywhere in his country.
No no no.. I'm an Audi driver and I indicate.. You are refering to BMW drivers - and former BMW drivers that have converted to Audi (quite a lot of them since Audi started to make ugly "agressive" grills). ;-)
"Why y'all gotta be so mean? I was only going at break neck speeds on the highway during a slowdown in a construction zone, and in a residential area where people were driving around at night, is that too much to ask?"
Probably the guy called the police because some idiot was following him dangerously close. Then the idiot turned on the blue red lights, the driver might think they were scammers. He stopped running when he found out that the idiots behind him were the real policemen.
I fell asleep in Kansas one morning about 2 am on the Kansas Turnpike. I woke up to taking out a line of those barrels, and other delineators. The barrels I hit at 86 mph were filled with water.
I learn something new every time I watch RU-vid videos. I never knew Audis came with turn signals. This guy must have paid a bundle for that exclusive edition Audi with that extra feature. I hope BMW is watching this and will someday include turn signals as optional equipment on their cars too.
@@KumarKush69To be fair, Hyundai made the most stupid decision to put the turn signal on the BOTTOM of the bumper which is extremely hard to see 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Yeeeeeeupppppp! Saw ASP Byrd and instant watch. Dudes been racing since he was a kid from what I hear. Go-carts, Sprint cars, track racing etc. He's got skills.
I think that it is fairly amazing that Officer Byrd was able to hold down a full time job here, while doing busy fiming schedules for Top Gear (in the role of the Stig)
@@debbieellett9093 it’s called humor. If you don’t know about top gear and the stig, then I understand you may not understand the joke, but it’s still funny.
I hadn’t heard of a GPS tracking dart, but it was amazing to see. Trooper Bryd is the best, but all the guys and gals in the ASP are awesome! It’s so fun watching them!
I love the way this guy uses turn signals at 130 miles an hour, when you can’t get people during normal daily driving to use theirs.. and my hats off to trooper Byrd. The man can drive.
Trooper Byrd driving technique phenomenal, light brakes at lights, slides tight into corners, then applies full throttle, he pits smooth, as to avoid vehicle damage, voice does not go up or down at 100 mph plus, very professional! He deserves a raise.
Before it's all over with, Trooper Byrd will end up in court as a defendant ..... After all, he stomped all over this poor, defenseless felon's rights.
@@Maxumized Always surprises me how all these grown a$$ men (BLAX) starts acting like little kids when they get arrested… all of them wants mommy huhhhhhh pathetic 🤮🤮🤮💩💩💩Ohhhh mommy the POWlice is racially profiling me because I’m black lol 🤡
This guy is ridiculously lucky, imagine being the Trooper and going through this entire adrenaline pumping chase and then after everything the criminal who you have at gunpoint and have told to put his hands up and not move, proceeds to reach his hand down out of sight in the exact same manner someone would do if they where reaching for a gun. This dude almost scored himself a Darwin award.
Yep people do extremely stupid things when under stress, some are simply NOT GOING TO OBEY or Comply under any circumstances, those are the ones who usually end up full of bullet holes and those that survive such do not have any idea why they were shot - equates to an amazing amount of being brain dead before being shot.
What a silly thing to say. You make it sound like they need to see anything... if you're pursuing a fleeing felon who is refusing to comply with lawful commands and making furtive movements it's completely reasonable to assume they are reaching for a weapon.
I don't know who I'm more impressed with, ASP or GSP. Insane execution of a low speed PIT. Drove right through at a perfect angle at the perfect moment. What a champion.
I always notice that here in my area, the drivers that cut me off frequently, signal last second and that makes them think it's OK ---this guy took the signaling to the extremes
@@robertbailey4454 Cali Cop: "I'm about to initiate the pit! Wait! Hold on! He's a minority! I'm terminating the pursuit, repeat, I'm terminating the pursuit!"
Isn't it telling that coastal states that have huge budgets still have huge crime and cops that can't, or allowed to, drive and shoot well. I swear I'll never visit Times Square given you seem just as likely to be shot by cops as by perps. (some exaggeration)
My dad told me when I first started driving, many years ago, you might think you can out run the police car, but you can’t out run Motorola! Once again, good job Officer Byrd! Thank you and keep up the great work!
While running from the police, it is imperative that you obey all traffic laws and politely use your indicator lights when changing lanes or turning. This way you will not risk getting a ticket.
This chase lets you know how "slow" Trooper Charger R/T cruisers really are , due to having so much structural reinforcement and extra gear. This perp was driving a base audi A7 3.0T(the slowest of the 7 series) and he was pulling on Trooper Byrd every time when on full throttle. Props to Byrd, he does have exceptional driving skills.
Trooper Byrd displayed great driving skills as he wove his way through the traffic barrels. That GPS dart is a cool accessory for the police. When the perp saw the gun, he dropped that phone FAST! This is one great video.
To be sure with road works and many turn offs the cop did the right thing. If the guy had stopped signaling and turned off lights, he may have got away, for how long that's another question. Are the darts reusable and maybe just another charge.
@@TheByard I just imagine the driver has a passenger, someone realizes he's been darted, and the passenger climbs to the back seat, puts them down, gets to the trunk, opens it, and tries to remove the dart mid pursuit, lo l.
I've been considering moving to Arkansas and just recently found this channel. Now I'm sure I'm moving there because I need to meet and shake the hand of officer Byrd!! *the pit master. 🇺🇸💪🏻
He can drive . He can't catch the blacked out charger and his cruiser isn't fast enough to catch a hellcat if that driver has any skills but he can Definitely drive
