Legendary Purdue basketball coach Gene Keady discusses his relationship with IU coaching legend Bob Knight. Keady also talks with Scott Swan about his own legacy.
A lifelong IU fan but always respected and appreciated Coach Keady. The IU-Purdue rivalry during the years that Coach Knight and Coach Keady went head to head was incredible. Coach Keady, as a coach, was always intense, well prepared and ran a great program. It’s a shame he never won a national title.
Had the privilege of meeting Gene Keady. I had see the way he acted during a game and wondered how he would be. Turned out to be one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet.
SOOO good to see Coach Keady!! I grew up in the Knight vs Keady days, there will never be a time like that again. Two of the best, most passionate, explosive coaches in the history of basketball--love you both!! (ps Coach Keady--I'm an IU fan but putting that aside, I'm truly sorry you were never able to snag a big dance championship. So many kind words about Coach Knight, I know he would say the same for you. Thank you for so many great memories & best wishes always!!) 💕💕
I'm a life-long Indiana fan but have long admired Coach Keady. I was glad to see Keady and Coach Knight develop a friendship that lasted for so many years.
Great interview Scott and thanks for doing this! I have to say that the respect they had for each other was off the charts! Even though I never played for either one I do have great memories of them and while I never drew the ire of Coach Knight I did several times from Coach Keady as my Grandma used to be his secretary but he always wanted the BEST for everybody as Coach Knight did! RIP Coach Knight you will be missed.
OMG!! I was in Madison when Coach Keady threw a chair when the Boilers played the Badgers. Nothing ever said about that. I thought it was funny as hell
Keady should have welcomed Rick Mount back to Purdue. Im not aware of the real issue , but I'm told their was an issue. Maybe it was with his son, Not playing at Purdue. I think he went to VCU ?
No doubt Keady got and developed players. Did Rick Mounts son transfer out of Purdue ? I thought Mississippi St. or VCU , but no sure ?@@rmx.indiana8306
