Thanks for the love on Toulouse. I designed the faction. 'Primi Milites' was what the best-equipped knights were called in medieval sources. It translates basically to "knights of the first rank.' 'Perfecti' comes from the cathars, which was a heretical christian sect which was dominant in Toulouse during the 13th century. The Cathars believed that when they were re-baptized into the cathar religion they emerged 'perfect.'

Wow. I have watched Apollo's promitions on you designers and I love the diverse armor and colors. Never really matching unforms but still enough to know. Kudos to your designs and Apollo, its these diverse Army compositions that really flavor up the battles. You should do more or show more of how to not have the same unit types in the army and "use them to their fullest potential." TM quote of Pixelated Apollo.

I like to get snacks and drinks for these battles, I wait until the battle begins before I start eating, in fact I usually pause the video after Apollo finishes doing the army comps, and then get myself some food, but I always finish eating before the battles over. Anyone else having this problem?

Well a really good cav charge to the back would break them, 50% of an army dead will break them( in real life) 20% of their unit dead they will break (again only in real life) a dead general they will break immediately (also only in real life) and overwhelming odds (yup only in real life)

Just for info: "milites perfecti" translates into something more of "the finished soldier" But the meaning been closer to "The Soldier who is completed" - Or a rougher translation would be "The Perfect Soldier" (since he is completed) like you said :)

I prefer the old wall system better. The system they have in place works for barbarian factions but not for Roman and eastern ones. I think they should reintroduce actual walls. Like eastern capitals Rome and Constantinople have in Attila.

it's very fun to see the cross on uniforms and flags of cathars from west-south of france but they had no many black uniforms. they were more red, blue with yellow cross but whatever it's fun to see his ancient country's colors in a game ! long live to total war !!! an other precision: the term "perfect soldiers" designates cathars soldiers (considerates like heretics by the pope, there was a crusade against them leaded by Simon de Monfort and his son Amaury between 1209 and 1229). the heretics were exterminated by the royal-crusader army after a long and costly war.

Holy fucking shit the defenders won?!?! This was the best siege of seen. Excellent use of troops, Apollo. I think having your men fight to the death at the wall helped, even though you regretted it. It kept them from swarming in too fast & gave your ally time to continue fighting on the other front. Great stuff. Wish the kings would have done epic singles combat tho lolol

Militae perfecti does not means perfect soldier. Being from Toulouse I would say it stand for cathars soldiers, the "perfecti" were a rank among the catharism religion

In fact it makes a lot of sense that defenders nevr win, history had shown that nearly every siege where the atackers lose was won bye luck like not enough suplies. Also when you think logical you can see that the only reason to atack like you have it in this types if scenarios is because you have an advantage which make sure that you win like more manpower

I'm wanting to know when the total war people are going to put in the Perrier. It's like a small trebuchet, but is used against infantry forces, not walled cities. It's said that this weapon would not launch normal stones, but would launch either an early form of grenade, or an early form of napalm filled grenades. this would cause massive damage for infantry forces.

God i love the new props for the siege battles, yes they are a bit too dark in coloration to the real buildings of medieval times, where they were colourful and looked beautiful but still it looks so much better than the Attila props for the buildings.

IIRC, 'perfecti' refers to members of the Cathar sect, which was declared heretical by the Church; the Albigensian Crusade was held to purge them. Not sure of whether or not Toulouse was a hotbed of them though. EDIT: Just did a little reading- turns out Toulouse was practically their HQ, and the Albigensian Crusade was responsible for Toulouse falling under French influence from that of Spain. Boy do I feel a little dumb now.

The count of Toulouse was a vassal of the Capetian King. However, in fact, he was more powerful than him until the early XIII century. No wonder why Raymond IV of Toulouse was one of the leaders of the first crusade from 1095 to 1099.

Captain here: the whole "perfect soldiers" thing is because these guys, Tolouse, had converted to Catharism in which they went through a special process of baptism after which they were considered "perfect", and the black and white uniforms reflect the dualist philosophy of their religion, believing there to be two gods, one good and one evil. *flies away by means of trebuchet* I am, however, curious about the faction of Norway. Although not featured in the battle, there's a very elite unit called "The Guests", a name that gives them this whole interesting and mysterious feel to them, and they dress in All Black, which just adds to what I just said. So this unit has a cool name, cool uniform, they are badass mele fighters equiped with bows and can be used as a commander unit. Who the hell are these guests and WHO IS THEIR HOST?

Milites means soldiers. HOWEVER: Charlemagne called mounted soldiers with lances MILITES. So, in a medieval sense, it means knight.

I believe that the language is the Occitan Language (it's a Romance language spoken in southern France, Italy (Occitan Valleys), Monaco and Spain (Val d'Aran))

+pixelated Apollo perfecti was actually a religious title that was granted during a medieval religious movement. the title was granted after all participants partook in a rigorous three year regimen that tested mind body and soul. the title "Perfecti" was a high honor, and was unique because it was open to all classes of citizenry and all Christian walks of life. so Perfecti Militas would have simply been people from the soldier class, or men at arms, who have underwent the vigorous Perfecti religious indoctrination. it's actually a very cool history similar to other orders like the Teutonic order.

Apollon, the name "perfecti" of your troops comes from the French word "parfait" which at that time designated a sort of religious in the Cathar religion. The county of toulouse practiced this heresy at this period, which prompted the Pope to launch the "Albigeois" crusade to eradicate the Cathar heresy.
