Sorry for the very late reply! Glad you liked the video, hope it helps and good luck with your greenstuff work :) really fun medium, but don’t get deterred if it doesn’t look great right away, it has a bit of a learning curve :) just keep at it :)
Brilliant tutorial thanks! Is each colour transition wet blended or are you waiting for it to dry? Also congratulations on your stunning Armies on Parade board.
I wait for the transitions to dry so it's more layering than wetblending. Instead I do some mixing of the colors on my wetpalette to make the transitions smoother :) Also, the paints are watered down and I use that to smoothen the transitions a bit. Thank you also for the AOP award :) So unexpected and so happy for it :)
I got inspired by your videos, and MIniWargaming Dave’s videos of your stuff. I’m converting a second hand imperial knight errant, and a primaris bike chaplain. I will be trying this green stuff flame method, kinda scared, but I know it will be cool.
I ended up using milliput instead, it was pretty rigid, but turned out. I finished the top half of my knight errant, in this style you are teaching, it turned out real nice. Thanks.
Thank you so much! So sorry for the late reply! I am not used to people messaging me on RU-vid :/ Really appreciate the feedback though and so glad you liked the battlereports :)
This is amazing! Love your channel. Can't wait to see more! How would you paint blue flames? Will you do a video on your light source from the flames? Incredible thanks again!
Thank you so much and so glad you learned something from the tutorial! I will hopefully do some more tutorials soon and could try to make on how I do OSL for fire. Regarding blue flames, I am not quite sure, but unlike most painters I like to start with an overall basecoat of the darkest color (red) so I would do the same with a blue color and the build up shades of light blue, going into cyan and finally white, to get a heat gradient. I would probably also look up some references on blow-torches or just heat-spectrum maps for inspiration :) Thanks for the comment and stay tuned for more.
Looks great man! I must say I was staring at your wet pallet not realizing that’s what it was before you started painting I was thinking how’s he got paint puddles floating on water is he going to hydro dip 😂
Thank you so much I have been thinking of making a Legion of the Damned army. I was stuck on the flames cuz I wanted to do Primaris models. Thank you again and you are very talented. :)
What ratio yellow to blue green stuff do you use? I am having trouble getting distinct peaks. Sort ends up looking like inverted fur if that makes sense. Also, if you ever decided to do a paid in depth tutorial, I would be the first to buy it. Your work is the best, bro.
I just use the normal ratio most of the time. In this "tutorial" I used the hobbyknife to show that you can do this without a bunch of special tools. However, normally I use a sculpting tool that looks more or less like a metal toothpick. Allows you to drag and pull finer tips. If you don't have such a tool, try just with a toothpick or sharper tool than your knife. The process is the same however, push and pull the greenstuff. Glad you like my work brother! The emperor protects!
It's a skull from GW's skull kit. If you search for "skulls" on GW's store you should find it :) It's a kit with 300 skulls of different since and shape :)
