I honestly can't tell and difference in how my bike runs with the clone installed. I had an issue with my Real carb. The float valve went bad and it seems there is no correct replacements to be found. I bought a china clone in hopes of getting the part I need since there only a few $$ on eBay if you shop around! The part I was going for it a perfect fit in legit carb. BUT! Since I already knew my settings and jets sizes I installed them in the clone and set the carb identical and poof! I wanted to see if the China clone was as bad as people say it is. Ran like nothing ever changed! So I wanted to see if there was any huge difference in how it runs or if the parts worked in one another and I had no issues. I honestly don't even see a need to putting real Mikuni back on if the clone runs the same. I will stash the legit one for now and repair it later when I can find the correct parts.

I just bought the imitation of the mikuni bst 40. I was looking for the OEM part and couldn’t find it. Then the prizes for originals are too high. I am not billionaire so I like to spend the times less for the same product

Mikuni no longer makes anything! all same damn factory in china makes brand name and clones! clones even have the logo now on them. you get nothing out fo a legit one a clone can't do! seriously! identical just logos and serials! after tons research only research the two are different is year they where name in! I asked local power sports dealer that sells aTVs with mikuni carbs he explained whole thing one day . Price for name which ona clone already LOL

Stamped and serialized by mikuni. Came off a stock atv with oem part numbers. They all are made in same china factories so not really sure why you all think it's not a real mikuni carb lol. But your open to your opinions even if there wrong 🤣👍

@@tbgtbg6311 pretty sure yours is a clone.... LOL seems to be the response everyone else uses for one my video but it works right lol? honestly it came off a atv oem part with mikuni parts look up on it and which factory it was made in. the ones you buy on ebay are same castings mikuni uses to make there carbs. they buy the china castings they actually have them cut by another factory in india and in france before you buy it, you ever noticed all part numbers are etched not raised on there stuff. all cut in later. logos are casted in 99% time on there stuff. lot number is casted about it. Chinese take all rejects like always mikuni don't purchase then they make clones sell t with sub par parts but same designs like always. no such thing as clone or real anything anymore lol legit vm22 carb in this video is 14 years old actually acid washed before i used it long time back and is not made or casted in china! like they are made in now! may be why looks different!

Buy a nibbi for the $50 I know bit much for a smaller carb like 18mm-22mm I think are all about $50 But! That carb was so easy to tune! Comes looking like a mirror inside! everything was like top notch QT on it! Has been one of the nicest easy to tune carbs I ever purchased. Worth every penny!

Does anyone know why my clone has an extra vacuum line the original doesn't have
@BuildBreakFix
@BuildBreakFix Год назад
Not a vacuum line. It's a spill line when bowl over flows. If you down your bike on its side its secondary overflow line. Stops the gas from spilling into your filter
@noduh736
@noduh736 Год назад
@@BuildBreakFix no its not its a vacuum line it has a strong vacuum and when I cover it the bike stalls I know what an over flow is
@BuildBreakFix
@BuildBreakFix Год назад
@@noduh736 you do realize it also doubles as air vent to allow gas to fill the bowl. There is no such thing as vacuum line on flow through carb you are asking about. This is not a all directional pump style carb. One line is hole up front where air mixes on screw intake at idle. Second is bowl vent/ overflow. But you must know that cause your asking what it is for 🤣

@@noduh736 lol you have no idea what's on my channel do you? Don't take what i said wrong! read this very detailed will explain there point! only into explaining stuff nothing to gain as my whole channel is non profit only teach it to people not even hoby to me, purely educational info you can ask anyone knows me on this channel very detailed in explaining stuff so hope this helps! Going to Explain this very easy! cause you seem confused what is going on with your carb! No such thing as vacuum line to start with on any carb of this type! only on a pumper carb or fuel pump carb to which you don't have! Pumper carb is the type with 2 lines you find on weed wacker or chain saw that can run in any direction! one runs to the gas tank which is actually a filler line not vacuum line means positive pressure out into the tank pushing gas into the carb! I have one on my MS660 build actually that is explained bit more in detail! Vacuum type carb requires a GAS PUMP to which pretty sure you don't have hooked as a secondary item either as it requires a crank case custom made outlet to even make one work correctly. which very well explained on one of my minarelli builds we tried one on. You are asking about a draw through carb. "venturi effect" type carb where engine its's draws in air fuel mix either by valve system for 4 stroke. or by piston crank case displacement volume in a 2 stroke. This carb has only "1 fuel line in" and random lines hanging off it seem to go to no where! maybe one off bottom of the bowl to drain bowl in location of your choice. "Screw valve at bottom with port is this item" 1 2 or 3 of these lines. 3 line being a power jet carb draw through line. which pretty sure don't have either cause engines you have to small to use one. Now the two lines! follow me here! If you remove your filter! you will see a hole in the carb facing you tiny hole. screw inline with this hole to one side. Called the air screw mix hole. One of those lines feeds that air mix screw. it is a line used to dump gas if the carb floods or to allow air into the system to let gas flow correctly as the engine draws in air fuel mix. serves 2 purposes! Second line if you notice! there is a hole above your bowls level of fuel where the float turns off at. If you flood the bowl the main jet will drag fuel up it and flood your engine with to much fuel and not enough air mix. AKA flooding an engine. If you tilt to much left or right up or down it will dump the fuel out of the bowl or allow air to be sucked into the bowl as the fuel is drawn in breaking the vapor lock. Think of it like this! if you hooked up a hose to a bottle sealed and you had no way for the air inside it to release you just be compressing air with fuel! This allows the air to free flow out of your bowl lets float turn off the fuel at correct level inside. If you dump your bike on it's side the float will not turn off the gas! so the tube will act as a dump in this case release fuel that would flood your engine as it stalls out choking on fuel. so your able to restart it once fuel dumps out to the correct level again through that tube. Then acts as a bowl vacuum break again! venturi effect is how this type of carb works in your case 2 stroke will suck air fuel mix in on up stroke! this draws in air throught he carb and as a by product of this gas along with it called venturi effect. if you make the gas vacuum locked you can not draw in gas if it can not freely flow into the carb. called a vapor lock. if you block a hose you create a vapor lock and the gas can no longer enter the venturi effect freely and will stall your engine as it no longer gets gas into the air being sucked in! The reason your bike stalls is you just created a vapor lock stopping gas from flowing into the air stream cause bwlo can no longer feed your main jet fuel at correct level. not a vacuum line it's actually a "vapor lock line" if you want to be technical about it.

Does the 22mm help power on a ported/head/ no reed motor?
@BuildBreakFix
@BuildBreakFix 2 года назад
Carbs work like this lol! Take your piston! Will Says 47mm like most motorized bicycles! You divide 47 by 2/5 and get 18.8! So (19mm) (So the rule is + or - 1mm to that number) which means that piston can use a 18-20mm carb correctly! That is normally how you determine a carb you need for a project your working on that will run the engine at it's full abilities!

@Build-Break-Fix I'm just trying to help others out here as your math doesn't work, unfortunately. As in 47mm piston diameter divided by 2/5 (.4) = 117.5mm. Division is incorrect, it should be multiply by for your formula..... What he means is 47mm piston times 2/5 (.4) = 18.8mm or a 19 mm carb. But really, the piston diameter is not the optimal diameter to use for calculating carb size. Your air flow capacity is not determined by the piston diameter it is limited by the intake valve size, which obviously will never be as large as the diameter of your piston because if it was there would be no room left for the spark plug or exhaust valve on a cylinder head. 😉 You should calculate carb size based on the limiting air flow diameter of the intake valve. So a good rule of thumb is to run a carb that is 80% as big as the intake valve diameter. For Example: a cylinder head with a 25mm intake valve x .8 = 20 mm carb bore diameter would work out nicely on that engine. One size smaller (18mm) or larger (22mm) will definitely work also, just may be a slight top end hp loss going smaller but likely have excellent throttle response down low. And if going larger, the engine may pull stronger in the upper RPMs but possibly give up a little low RPM throttle response is all but will definitely still work. Take the basic rule of thumb and size your carb up or down based on your intended use of the engine for around the house puttering or flat out WOT racing conditions, and you will be happy. Hope that helps others out with finding their carb size choices. 🙂

Wouldn't doubt it. All the mikuni carbs are made in China. So you can't say one is or not unless it's vin says mikuni on it. Which 90% clones won't have. This one is part numbered by mikuni. Who knows if that's copied as well. I stopped buying mikuni carbs anyhow. Nibbis carbs are where the nice easy tunning is at these days.
