LEGO® Bionicle 2010 Stars Review 

I know it’s easy to critique the sets and I do wish they weren’t so small, but I’m so happy Bionicle got an ending rather than just fading out. Also I like that they gave people a chance to get iconic characters (Tahu, Takanuva) if they missed them at the original time. Thanks for all the episodes and for bringing back a piece of our childhoods!

And with this wave, yellow had FIRMLY taken brown's place as the stone color. Or at least, stone surrogate. Supposedly, there was a brief window where larger versions of these sets were considered. In another timeline, we would've seen a properly sized Nektann, Rahkshi, Tahu, etc. And if someone wants to moc larger versions of these characters, they can... but they shouldn't have to. At the very least, these do look nice as a group (and the baddies make good army-builders), but it's pretty weak that their builds are so samey compared to the Agori. Four of these figures have the same legs. It's nicer than nothing, but it feels like a tease. It just makes me wish we had the GOOD 2010 with the Element Lords, new versions of Ackar, Kiina, some new friends, and possibly a gold Mata Nui. Ahhhh well. I bet two of those mini-Skrall would look good flanking Tuma like elite Agori bodyguards dressed in his colors. Next time... THE END???

I know they're nothing special, but Stars Takanuva has a special place in my heart since he was the second Bionicle set I ever owned. By the way, does anyone remember those STARS stop motion commercials by Patrick Boivin? I was so disappointed when I learned the figures didn't actually have elbows and knees like in the commercial. Congrats on getting this far into Bionicle, Christian. We appreciate your dedication to getting sealed sets.

I can’t believe Gen1 is over. One day the Toa Mata review just popped into my recommended and I’ve been here for every Mata Nui Monday since. It’s been a hell of a ride, thanks for the memories.

Given the circumstances behind the end of Bionicle, I gotta say I'm glad Stars exists as an epilogue to G1.

I don’t hate the Stars but why did they make Takanuva the white set!? Why would they not make him yellow and then make the Rakshi white/grey, it’s just weird to honour one of the most iconic bionicles in the dull colour scheme

even though the sets weren't the best representations of most of the characters-- i really appreciate that we got them in addition to a bunch of new molds and recolors! especially since we know the designers really pushed for this last wave that wasn't originally planned.

I remember when I saw them first time when I was young, I thought they were so WEAK by their size & parts count. Especially for one theme's finale line. But looking again with good nostalgic view, they look somewhat cozy and neat. Oh Bionicle, always will be in my heart forever.

IIRC, Lego was gonna pull the plug on Bionicle without a proper ending or sets but the team was passionate and begged Lego to tie it all up and this is what came of it. Obviously not the ending we wanted but they did at least finish for us.

I remember running across greek shops to find all the Stars, it was a fun hunt. Definately doesn't match the stories, Kanohi and Krana packs but it was a fun way for me to experience Bionicle as a girl born in 2004. I remember some Glatorian and a Lego hockey set too but the stars were the only ones I got to choose. And then I had the golden Tahu at last, near a bakery. My dad left the car with me. I had the golden Tahu. Yes, the pieces are now mostly destroyed and the articulation is minimal, but I really liked the experience as a child. Now I found myself going to the roots of Bionicle, man, I love Bionicle

Really just the end of an era. Sad, but it's more than some themes got. This was an amazing series if vids, and that makes me excited for what's to come. Great job dude, keep it up!

For all their issues, I will always remember the magical moment, about 6 months after Bionicle's Finale, when I found one of the Piraka sets squirreled away on a Walmart shelf and I got to experience The Dream in real life. Even with the return of G2, I never felt such a strong emotional feeling as that moment

I never bought these sets when they came out, but I randomly came across the Takanuva one at a used LEGO store while out shopping and had to grab it. It's a nice little addition to my collection as a chibi counterpart to my 8699 Takanuva!

Skrall's torso was built backwards; the head is supposed to be attached to the additional limb piece like in the Rahkshi. I enjoyed actually being able to get a Tahu and a Rahkshi as a kid, but they are quite underwhelming when looking back on them today.

Bionicle. I learned so much from it. Unity, duty, and destiny. To live, to save those who can not save themselves. And to inspire. Endings always come, even when we don't want it to come. We can only greet the ending of G1 of bionicle as that friend that must go now, go to help so many others. Good bye. Bionicle will forever live. It doesn't need to be remembered. For it will never be forgotten.

0:23 7:23 I really like that they brought back the name Tahu and Takanuva for their last 6 sets. Although it didn't seem like many lego buyers during Winter 2010 cared at all for the nostalgia of seeing the barely recognizable poor remakes of AV Matoran sized Pirakas, Rhakshi, and Skrall at all.

This series has been an awesome retrospective over the series! I know it’s not technically related, but if you did a hero factory series I’d be super interested in watching how that continued the evolution of bionocle

Always wanted that yellow rakshi fella, thought it was so sick!! I never ended up getting any of the stars, but I do recall getting the bigger sets from this series! Thank you for chronicling the history of bionicle! It was a nice escape, going down memory lane and seeing all the cool sets ! The ending of G1 Mata Nui Monday almost made me as sad as the actual ending of Bionicle. Thank you for making all of these videos and letting us relive a little of our childhood. Would love to see you do a top 10 best and worst sets!

Tahu actually had a lot of reused pieces, his flame sword was originally part of Ackar’s blade, only new pieces tmk are the feet pieces and the chest piece. Same more or less goes for the rest except for Rakhshi and Piraka, with the spine and head pieces. While I do agree that it was better they ended with something rather than nothing, it kinda hurts knowing what could have been for the finale

For as much as I loved Bionicle, I never had any sets from the final "Stars" wave, making 2010 the only other year of the theme(apart from '02) where I didn't have a single set from it. In the time since then, there are some people who may have liked to have seen Titan-size remakes of these six characters, like there was for "Toa Mata Nui" (8998), rather than the Agori-style versions seen here. But in spite of that, these final sets of generation still have some exclusive parts, such as Tahu having the Av-Matoran/Agori torso and the new feet design in Mata red, and the Toa Nuva shoulder armor in metallic silver. He and Takanuva also mark the last appearance of the Av-Matoran head in transparent fluorescent green (also called "neon green"). Gresh's parts in lime green are all exclusive to him, as is the Av-Matoran/Agori torso in Metru green. Similarly, most of Takanuva's parts in white are exclusive, though the shoulder armor in that color actually debuted in April 2003 in a "Hockey" set (3542), as well as a Bionicle "Parts tub" (8713) in '05. The Mahritoran blades in metallic silver also come in a "Hero Factory" set (7145) later in the year. Skrall includes an exclusive recolor of Kopaka's "Ice Sword" from 2001 in black, and marks this part's last appearance all together. The set called "Piraka" (7137) was later defined as "Nektann", and every piece on him in Metru blue is exclusive. The "Rahkshi" is actually of the heat vision variety, and is the last appearance of flame yellow (also called "Keet orange") in Bionicle. Along with the "Magnetic Shield" recolored in "warm gold", the Av-Matoran limb comprising its neck in dark stone, the "Staff of Disintegration" parts in metallic silver, and the feet in flame yellow are exclusive to this set. As is the redesigned hand socket joint in transparent flourescent reddish-orange. The score for this final wave may be "average" but it still wasn't the lowest score out of the entire theme. Though I may not have obtained any of the "Stars" wave, I had obtained a total of 98 sets from the Bionicle theme, though three of those were from the minifigure-scale subtheme of it.

Back in 2010 I was 17 and I was over Bionicle (or so I thought) and yet I still found myself wanting to buy the Stars Tahu just for old times' sake. Wish I did, to be honest.

And with that the Bionicle series comes to an end... Or maybe not I hope... This has been an awesome ride. Just got finished watching all the older videos I hadn't seen yet. You really went, 'All-Out' with this series, I really love the video format and cannot wait to see what you cover in the future!

Given that its the final wave and is called "stars", I would've loved to see a new version of not only Tahu and Takanuva, but Matoro and Ignika, maybe even Lhikan and any of Makutas. Or heck, something like a canister rendition of Axonn and Brutaka would've been nice. Including both Gresh and Skrall just doesn't make sense to me. Also, imagine if all the golden parts were to make an entire separate 7th figure of Mata Nui instead of redundant parts for Tahu. I guess there just wasn't much budget allocated for this wave to produce anything extravagant. Personally, I think it went out with a whimper, but at least we got something.

Most of the anger I felt I left on some street corner long ago. I still say Bionicle deserved better, especially seeing Ninjago's long, long, long, (are you really ending) good bye. Speaking truth to myself, the line should have ended years prior. But the worst part of the over-extension is that we saw the innovation and creativity that revitalized Lego get swept out as IP collabs dominated the landscape. The websites, the secret codes, the weapon gimmicks I had never seen Lego so daring. Bionicle was in the sweet spot were it was central enough give a new twist a solid boost of fans, but not central enough that the Lego Group could try something different the next year and the next. That's the thing I missed the most from Bionicle Gen 1: that innovative spirit.

Back then i was just surprised no big sets. Did not know that this was it. Glad that i managed to buy physical copy of journey's end few years ago tho.

i know the stars aren’t looked at very favorably by the majority of fans but i honestly really can’t see too much negative in them. probably bc they were my introduction to bionicle, stars takanuva was my first bionicle set. looking at the stars in conjunction with the rest of the line, it’s honestly amazing to see bionicle even got a proper conclusion. most lego lines never even get one, so we really lucked out even if what we got were little agori builds of important characters

Ah, it feels like Bionicle is over all... Over again! These videos have been super nostalgic and have helped bring back my passion for the toys and the story. Playing with these toys with my brothers was a highlight of my childhood, and I wouldn't replace that for anything. Getting old sets and parts, some gold and silver Toa Mata masks, making mocs, it's been a good time and these videos have been a big part of that. Have had them on in the background of moccing a few times, too! Bionicle Stars was another wave I never got a set from, and was definitely the height of my late childhood apathy to the line. Not getting a set for Christmas for a while and the story getting confusing definitely contributed a lot to that. Plus, I wanted to be cool and different. Don't think I could hide that some parts and sets were pretty cool, though. I think I was kinda mixed up on Bionicle around 2009/10 lol Anyway, TL:DR: cool video, me like. Bionicle cool, me like.

im telling you you need to review the 2015 sets so much customization options so much poseablilty and they can turn the gears dude what my adult mind was amazed

Even though the Stars are not the best figures I still adore them, because it was my first entry to Bionicle as a child.

i think my gripe with these sets is that my mom brought some home for me as a gift one time when they came out. i had not seen them before, but i could just tell by the name "stars" and that they were pulling out the stops with takanuva, that this was a fairwell wave. i don't like them because they represented the end of my childhood.

Gold Tahu was my favorite childhood toy, and I got it again when I was an adult (having lost it at some point). It's good to see him

They should have released the remaining Rahi beasts that never got an official set, especially the Sand Tarakava, Catapult Scorpion etc. and with the Kanohi Dragon and Tahtorak being the final titans!

I didn't know Bionicle was ending when the stars set released, but I still like these sets, because of the collectible golden armor 🔱

They are decent sets in my opinion, but I would have preferred to get them on the scale of the 2006-2009 sets.

I actually adore these sets. I know they're not the best play or pose sets out there, but as a collectible set that was cheaper than others, and meant to just be almost a bit of "memorabilia" for collectors, rather than a toy, I adore them. I actually did full-size mocs of Nektann and Takanuva because I wanted something to go with my display of characters, but really loved the idea of Shadow Toa Takanuva and Nektannm, moreso than a regular Takanuva and Vezok.

I loved the flexible spine on Nektann. I wish I had gotten Tahu and Takanuva!

I never actually saw these in stores and only found out about them a few months ago.

I was really sad that bionicle ended as a kid especially when they were finally building cool sets again and I was really disappointed that the 2015-2016 line turned out to be a flop which is why if they really are planning to bring bionicle back again in 2025 they actually succeeded in making it great again of course it’s only a rumor that they plan to bring bionicle back again in 2025 but a guy can dream can’t he

It is so sad to see this series to come to an end, but at least such a wonderful theme got a decent send-off. And also, AllOutBrick, are you gonna do G2 as well?

I bought Takanuva because thats what me and my friends did - we would buy Bionicle and play with them, but it didnt happen. Only one kid bought all six, purely for display, no other kids bought them. My Takanuva sat in his canister, never seeing any play. To me, stars represent an end to my childhood.

Tbh I actually quite like the Stars, they aren't that bad, just fun little builds made as a final way to say goodbye Obviously they could have been better, but they have a certain charm to me, especially Tahu and Takanuva, but maybe I just like Tahu so much because of Reviving Bionicle, either way I'm glad we got them, even if they aren't the best Bonkles out there

I wish they weren’t so small, and G1’s toy line had lasted a few more years, but I would say that we humans are like the giant robots to them from the G1 story. Lol. The Golden Armor is kind of neat. I miss G1 so much (and I wish the G1 sorry will be re-continued somehow).😭 Anyway, will you please do Hero Factory and Bionicle G2 next? It would mean a lot if you do because they are derived from G1.🙏

I didn't mind the Karda Nui matoran/Agori builds because it was easier to get all six and to me they looked sufficient, the Rahkshi and Skrall were my favorite because of the unique torso build.

Tbh I understand why but I definitely wish they make Takanuva the gold toa. Having him go from Silver to full on Gold would've been incredible. Granted I know we can do it now for the most part but unfortunately his mask never got a pearl gold drop which would be the only missing piece

Gresh is the only Bionicle I ever had since I was born a bit too late. It really sucked that his parts were fragile, because of the plastic color and the general thinness of the socket joints, especially when compared to Hero Factory sets after this.

I can't help but feel like Lego kinda gave up caring at this point. The style guide for this series said that characters weren't to be referred to as "Bionicles", yet here they do exactly that in reference to Tahu with the gold pieces.

I prefer to see them as what they "are" rather than what they are (sounds funny, I know). They are an effort to not led G1 one end without conclusion. As sets they are just bad, plain and simple, but seeing them as some sort of a "trophy", a summary of where we started and where we ended, these sets are just beautiful to me and always a great pick for my shelf for proud display

On to G2!
