Once, long ago, Nocturn was the mightiest warrior of his civilization. That is, until he lost his temper one day, hit his home island in just the right spot, and shattered it. For his crime, he was exiled to the Pit for eternity. Over the centuries since, he has become many things -- but calmer is not one of them.
Fun facts about Nocturn- He originally had two tentacles but one was rip off by Pridak and he is immune to the pit mutation and that means that what he looked like even before he was banished. Also Nocturn was the one to make Pridak's shark tooth blades.
@@halite_g If you mean the ones from the Toa Inika and Rahkshi and Takadox and so on, they've held up very well for me. I've had one breakage of one of Takadox's limbs and that's it for me. Curiously I've had more clear Hero Factory bones break than old school ball sockets.
@@GringatTheRepugnant That's very interesting. I ask because my time spent in the Transformers community has taught me that clear plastic can be quite brittle
At the time, in my eyes Nocturn was always overshadowed by the armed Hydraxon, and the giant Maxilos (/Makuta), especially when I watched the awesome Mahri commercial and Nocturn wasn't in it, but I think as I grew older, I started to appreciate Nocturn as a set more than I did back then.
I always liked what he represented, yet another escaped mutant pit prisoner, and one who served as a big, unwieldy minion for the easier to acquire canister villains, specifically Ehlek.
I love this guy. A once proud warrior whose temper got away from him that ultimately got him thrown in the pit. You can just tell how insanely powerful he is and his design is so unique. It’s a shame *spoiler* that he got killed so unceremoniously killed by Hydraxon
Such an underrated set. Maxilos & Spinax take the spotlight for a lot of people, but Nocturn deserves a lot of credit too, and that color scheme really nice
I love how many titan sets are out for this year, combined there are 6 in total for this year, that is a staggering amount and they are equally split up with half having Cordak blasters and Squid Launchers.
Nocturn is just such a vibrant set and fits the underwater theme so well, even the repurposed caraper head fits so well with the store, because like caraper he us supposed to be pretty dumb so it makes sense that they share the same head, and the limb diversity us really great.
One of, if not our favorite bionicle set. So many points of articulation and a great character with a great gimmick of being able to glow in the dark. Super great set for a super great year in the run. Also we got our set used for about 60 USD
I bought him recently too. I'd argue that he's better than a 7.3. I think he's this really grimey, ultra bright toy, definitely sticks out from previous titans. I think his consistency is good too, he's armoured all the way around, he looks like a warrior, rather than a haphazard beast. Can't wait for your Maxilos and Hydraxon reviews, they've gotta be the best bionicles ever got!
He's missing the teeth (and it looks kinda dorky lol) and I'd mention some cool recolors, having Carapar's head in translucent blue is definitely neat.
I love this guy! It’s a shame the aftermarket value is so high; at retail price I find him to be, without exaggeration, one of the best. Very easy to pose and fiddle with, looks great, and at only a little bit of a higher price point than the barraki (once upon a time), I think he supplements them very well
I have always loved Nocturn as a set. The glow in the dark pieces that make him like a bioluminescent deep sea creature and the colour scheme have always been super appealing to me. Funny how he's like a king-size Barraki set yet in the story he was just one of Ehlek's lieutenants.
he’s expensive but the barraki parts in blue are so sick. the spines are $10 and the tentacle & head are $15 on BL rn so he just has lots of rare parts
I never got this set but I always wished I could’ve gotten him. That color scheme looks amazing, even better than the box art. And I think you can make the glow-in the dark pieces brighter by holding them up to a bright light right before turning the lights off
I remember when I got Nocturn. At first stance I just bought him just "to fill the collection" but he certainly shutted my low expectations. Might be the "weakest" titan of 07, but I really enjoyed building him. Plus, nice recolors will always be welcome for MOCing. :) Can't wait for the upcoming Titans!
I almost bought him back in the day, but put him down for something else. NEVER could find him after that day, and I looked everywhere! One of the sets I need to hunt down. Yeah. . . . Lol
Nocturn was my first and only store-exclusive Bionicle set, and my first time obtaining Carapar's head piece, since I didn't obtain that one until around the end of the second quarter of the year. The webbed Piraka feet and Inika legs in lime green are exclusive to this set, as are most of the bioluminescent elements. The Metru legs, Metru hip piece and the spike in that color appear in two other sets after this, and this is the final set to have the Clawed Piraka foot in Metru blue. The tentacle in silver is exclusive, though it appears in black in two other sets later on. This was the second of two Bionicle sets to have the Technic 3M beam in lime green, though it was still used in other themes until last year...
Love these reviews! So nostalgic to see the sets i gushed over as a kid. Can’t wait for the next couple titan sets from that year, they’re some of me all time favs
These have all been so awesome, and I can't wait for who's next, whoever it is! My personal favorite set from the 2007 line was always Gadunka, with that big head of his!
This was one of the coolest looking sets for me as a kid besides umbra, that big golden dude from the piraka area and the dragon I think it's name was kardas ( 2006 had the best big sets by far) but I never got it sadly. I love the glow in the dark parts and the colors, as well as the lore I had a magazine that had a bionicle comic in it with him. My mom took them away because they were too violent😂I wish I still had them just for the nostalgia, would make me so happy to read them from time to time.
You seem to be missing 2 white tooth pieces for the upper jaw and 2 additional lime green pieces for the top of his head. Was the set used and those pieces were missing?
As you said, more of a Warrior than a Titan and far from the standout from the season, but I thought Nocturn had a very memorable design and cool lore. And I had a blast reusing some of his parts for MOCs.
Something that the box shows but the instructions don't (amazing move by those lol) is that you can put clips on the thigh armor pieces to hold the squids. I really like this guy, definitely works as a slightly larger Barraki and I love how thoroughly he packs glow in the dark pieces. Also with the General Grievous comparison, I had Nocturn team up with Ehlek to fight the big constraction Grievous and steal all of his lightsabers, was such a fun time.
All-Out Brick I think every Barraki had that function, but I never used it. I never even used the squid launchers at all, just leaving them off the figures entirely.
Def one of the best set out there. Look really good. Not overdone & great colors. Bought the a used set (missing the tentacle, one sword and all the green spikes) for 15€. Good deal since the missing things are cheap as hell (didn't checked the tentacle, but honestly don't care much about it). The only set I bought to keep it. The rest I'll sell in the future. Him, Takadox & the Yellow Matoran were my fav sets from that wave when I was younger.
4:35 Since I didn't have this set as a kid I can't say for sure, but I bet it glowed way brighter back in the day. It's only dim cause the set is so old lolz
A tip for anyone dissatisfied with glow in the dark pieces. BLACK LIGHT. UV rays SUPERCHARGE glow in the dark material more than any standard lightbulb or flashlight.
At 4:47 fun fact if you use a extremely bright flash like on the bioluminescence parts for long enough they will glow very very bright in the dark like a nightlight since I've done this multiple times when I was a kid with takdox 😈
Great ! Once you run out of reviews you should review or create some Bionicle revamps of characters to make them more similar to their movies counterparts, on r/bioniclelego they have a lot of great mock up for example
