Definitely go over a large comparison of all of the scores for the finale episode, and speculate what a Bionicle would have to look like to approach a 10/10. I definitely need to play with my own Mazeka more given how highly you rated it lol. I guess one thing to improve the set would be for the legs to be able to rotate laterally with the large ratchet joints that will later appear on the Skopio-XV1 (and if you were annoyed with leg repetition here, you'll be very annoyed there lol).
no matter how large the gap in videos is, ill be here watching. these videos are so much fun to watch and it feels like just a few months ago since the series started
Mazeka is one of the few Bionicle sets that I literally never took apart, nor do I ever plan on doing so. A family friend had him unopenned for years, and on my 13th (or 14th?) birthday, he actually gave me the set. Still one of my most coveted Bionicle sets
Man, after seing the set's box in a local store at the time and knowing I would never be able to get it because I didn't have money... the sheer catharsis of seeing a proper review of this set hits right! Thank you! And thank you for this series. It has been an awesome ride and the delays are justified in that the reviews will be high-quality forever. These are amazing!
I personally didn't expect Mazeka to be saved for the end of the 2008 reviews, but he was still one of several sets from that year which I didn't have. Mazeka himself is the last set to have the redesigned hand sockets and the the curved Av-Matoran limbs in white, and the last to have the Kanohi Volitak from Nuparu Mahri. His "Swamp Strider" marks the final appearance of the rounded Inika feet and the Inika knee armor in Metru blue (earth blue), and is also the final appearance of the Zamor launcher in gunmetal, and the claw parts from Carapar (8918) all together. The turntable the entire mechanism is mounted on was phased out after this, having debuted in a Technic set (8436) from August 2004. While the trend of limited edition sets would continue in 2009, I think that only one was a store-exclusive if I remember correctly.
These videos are some of my favorites. You put a lot of effort into the quality of your videos and reviews, and it definitely shows. It's really cool being able to go back in time and remember all the old sets I got for birthdays or holidays while watching your reviews, or being able to see the value of the sets that I wasn't able to get when they were on shelves. This 2008 Karda Nui line was the last of the Bionicle sets that I was interested in when I was younger, so from here on out the sets will be all new to me
Your recap of what this series is is spot on to what I envisioned it to be. Excited to continue to build sets I never had as a kid and share them along with everyone!
You are doing god’s work. A little over a year ago, I had an inkling to look up the old bionicle sets. I stumbled upon your series right after you started metru nui, and it’s been incredibly fun week in and week out to see your videos.
Just curious, after you finish your Bionicle reviews, do you plan to cover Bionicle G2, Hero Factory, or any another Lego themes to take this series’s place?
There will be a consistent amount of current set reviews and throwback reviews. In terms of a series like this one there aren't any plans to but I'll have more to share as we near the end of the theme
I love the fact that the set has a name almost identical to a brand of corn products here in Mexico, MASECA. Could it be that they changed a few labels to avoid copyright problems?
Yooo legit every time I see an upload it gets me feelin good, keep it up dude. Totally understandable that weekly uploads arent always possible, thank you for sticking with it :)
Dude, don't worry yourself if you're not reaching your personal goal of doing an episode every week. Life happens. Bionicle fans that like your content will still be around to watch whanever you post a new video. Unless you are really planning on making a buisness out of the channel of course, because then youtube algorithm really punishes your growth if you don't post regularly...
Great review and gorgeous looking video as always! It's funny, I feel like all the sets I WASN'T interested in as a kid (Mazeka, Hydraxon, 2005 Titans) all seem to be some of your favorites lol. Can't wait to see what's in store!
Who the heck is Mazeka? Here I am thinking we finally finished 2008, and I don't think I've ever seen this guy! Looks pretty sick from the look of it Edit: Also it's been awesome hanging on the ride with you as you review Bionicle! You do a fantastic job like no other and I'm excited to see what comes next!
Is a Matoran who was like a Saruto/Sasuke friend with Vultraz, a shadow matoran who joined to Makuta and Mazeka tried to stop him, the Order of Mata Nui watched him so they recruited and trained him to being a spy for them.
No! You're joking! Have you been following Bionicle since the original times or are you picking it up now? I mean there are some OBSCURE sets, but this guy is a must have especially if you enjoy the Karda Nui plot line!
@@disricardo-9299 See I never understood the plot line up until 2009 Glatorian when I got into Bionicle. Only a few months ago did I get into the Bionicle lore lol
Damn, I might just have to get this set! That turret articulation is top notch. Ever think of doing a "best of" video? Would be low effort and very entertaining!
To every collector who's mad about opening sealed sets. These are toys. And as such they are meant to be played with. With means you HAVE to open them, build them; and if not neccesary play with them; at least put them on a shelf and admire them. This the way of Bionicle
As I've said before, I have experience with second hand sealed Bionicle sets (Maxilos and spinax no less), and you're right, it is quite the experience
I know we still have four more years of BIONICLE (at least, if you plan on doing 2015 and 2016), but I'm kind of curious what you're planning on doing once you're all caught up. Mega Constructs Monday has a bit of a ring to it, but it does seem like you're focused primarily on LEGO so I'd understand if that's not where you're interested.
2015/16 are still a little up in the air, we'll see what happens with those. There are some plans for when the Bionicle sets come to a close, just have to wait to find out!
Im currently rewatching all your bionicle reviews, to fill these "gaps" :D Do you have any specific plan for the future, when we end the Bionicle line?
I love bionicle vehicles , imagine if they sell vehicles alone at a cheaper price I feel people would buy them more instead of putting a toa or a basic one at a higher price
I would never give such a high score to a set that has an Av Matoran build. Those are one of the most questionable things that has happen to the later half of G1, only made worse with the redesigned socket pieces.
Fair complaint with the Av-Matoran, they're pretty rough. But at this point I've more or less accepted that these are the Matoran for 2008, and the real positives to this set are all centered around the vehicle
