I am rediscovering my love for Lego lately and I never had any sets with hinges. I knew about this first castle set and I am also shocked that it actually opens up and has hinges since the very beginning of the theme!

So. Much. Yellow!! I'd heard a few folks reference this build, but I've never really seen it. Wow. For a late 70's set, this seems reallllly impressive. I do agree that even though there's no fancy little elements that provide detail and texture, it still looks good. It looks like a castle, and it looks like what I always thought of as "traditional" lego. :)

Hahaha! Yes! All the yellow! 😂 and I can definitely appreciate current LEGO with all its fancy fun bricks ...but sometimes I just love the original nostalgic feel of classic LEGO bricks 😁

My brothers and I owned this and the 6080 castle. After 40+ years my parents handed over a couple boxes of Lego to me and surprisingly pretty much every piece for those castles was still there. I’ve had fun rebuilding them with my kids.

I was at a persons house 4 days ago to purchase 928 Space Cruiser and Moon Base, I asked if he had any other vintage lego sets, he went and got 6080 Kings Castle and the 375 release of this, he had the box and instructions for all of them, we negotiated and the final price was about 40% less than what purchasing them on bricklink would've cost me 😱 Like you, I never thought I'd have these fantastic sets but now I do. I built them both that night 😁

This was the last set of legos our parents got us for Christmas 1981. Had to have been the best. I was 10 so I was getting out of legos, still have most of it around at my parents in a box legos…just saw some yellow pieces and a couple knights the other day while visiting

This is the best Lego build video EVER!! Love castles and this simple build with the winch and the sides opening up is awesome. Nostalgic yellow instead of realistic masonry colours works. Thanks Stacey 🥰

If another company created a yellow toy castle, I would say, "Wait, what are you doing?!!!!! No you can't!!!!." But when Lego does it, it looks super nice and extra Legoey, if you know what I mean. Great review!
