Damn, I expected way more from this set. Can't Lego just do the buggy motor but for Control+? It would be perfect for sets like these, and would 100% justify the price tag.
@@gaujio Nothing is stopping them from developing a Control+ Hub that can deliver the required power. It would simply deliver more power if a motor sends a packet that says "yep you can pump more amps and volts into me no issues"
The reson it doesn't have 3 axles is bacause then it would just look like 42070, and Sariel would get flashbacks and rate everything 1 star lol ( i mean perhaps the duck was already enough)
@@lunisbrickcreations7289 Yeah, but it's still clearly named Zetros TRIAL TRUCK, and looks nothing like a military vehicle (Ok maybe a little bit), and the Zetros 6x6 isn't limited to ONLY the military. So technically it shouldn't The thing about the osprey is that nothing stated whether it was a military vehicle or not.
Well after what initially looked like a really cool set, the detail of the drivetrain and diff-locks looked great! Sadly the final model seems substantially lacking. Wheels seem far too small, drivetrain clearance is tiny and the huge amount of areas that break apart with next to no effort seems like a real big oversight?! I'll save my pennies this time! ... As for your video, I watch a lot of review vids from other channels and this is my first time seeing one of your. Very impressed and the thorough test display at the end was very clear and very much welcomed! I'll definitely be coming back here more often! Great stuff, thanks!
This set in theory is the perfect set for your channel, considering how many videos you have about truck trials and trial trucks. Kinda sad this set doesn't quite deliver even tho it has some potential... And while I agree that this would have been the perfect opportunity to introduce some proper truck tires, as a tractor fan i really can't wait to get some of those medium sized ones Great review as always, love the part with the cats!
Yep. That will outperform this everyday. For me the appeal of this set is building it yourself to understand how the mechanisms work and also to mod it to oblivion to increase performance 👍
I have an RC for bashing that outperforms any lego RC set that has ever been released combined but for a crawler I easily could see myself using a lego one. It's just more fun this way, building it, upgrading and rebuilding again for even more upgrades. Crawlers aren't meant to be super sturdy or have insane speed, exactly what lego can deliver. Will a normal crawler RC beat even the best lego construction? Sure. But will the RC owner have as much fun as the lego guy who built a custom truck and upgraded it's performance 100s of times? Doubtful ;)
I actually like this set quite a bit, the small size is helpful, it has nice suspention, quite a bit of torque and lockable diferentials, though for the same price you could probably get a full-metal R/C crawler truck
Thanks for the review and greate video! But I'll probably skip this set. Just like the sets of the last few years. A tip from me: Buy the 42110 and 42099 and upgrade the Landrover with RC and planetary gears. Instruction for this are here on RU-vid. Seems like much more fun to play with.

I just got this AND the Land Rover Defender for 220€, fully complete with manuals, and I feel really good about the value. The Zetros is so much fun goofing around the house, and the alternate builds that have popped up since are awesome.
Technic has revealed some amazing vehicles this month, I can know own my 2 favourite all time vehicles, the Corvette and F150, and they happen to be in the same colour
I will be hyped-up IF lego will license Tatra 813 8x8 Kolos!! But I am afraid this type of suspension is not easily build robust fro truck trial mode with current Lego pieces.
okay, let me tell you Sariel that the edit of your last reviex are ones of the best I've never seen, congrats !! the review itself is really good tho !!
Really looking forward to that upcoming comparison video. I have built the Efferman's Ultimate 42099 MOC and modified it with RC tires and a longer frame to fit an extended Land Rover Defender truck body on it. It can climb like nothing I've built before.
I'd love to see a segment with "interesting parts", like rare or very old parts, that we haven't seen in a long time. Wait what, Ackermann steering, and locking diffs? Never seen that on a LEGO set. 27:32 😂
After seing this review, my opinion about this set COMPLETTELY CHANGED! Thia is the best set in last few years! ...and FINNALLY they made lockable differentials and used the prwered up M-motor in a technic set
@@searme I don't take care about negative things - yeah maybe a bit overpriced, slow and fragile, but still it is best Lego offroader... And main thing - it has great parts resources.
It has like three new kinds of pieces among 2,000. Some of them are pretty cool and useful, sure, but are they worth $300? Well, at the end of the day it's your wallet. Just remember that you can buy two 42128's for exactly the same price.
Actually more impressive TBA than I was expecting with the Ackermann steering and remotely locking diff. I think the 6×6 prototype would have made it too similar to the Azure Tow Truck a few years ago. PS @Sariel: I've been watching since your own Trial Truck days and was wondering if they still happen? I'm sure 10 years of improved pieces, motors and controllability would make it very different!
Hey sariel long time fan here, do you see any interesting uses for the new parts in mocs? I'm curious about how useful the new beams with alternating holes will be structurally. I think it's obvious that the new CV joint is going to be useful in suspension systems, but the new beams are interesting. I've seen stuff like that in knockoff sets which intrigued me, but it's nice to see Lego experiment with such basic parts like that. Also, are there any new parts or improvements to old parts you'd like to see Lego to make in the future? Thanks, again an old fan here. I must have watched you for about 10 years or more.
As usual , the big RC car sets always get a negative final note/scores 🤔😀 so lego needs to make a RC 4x4 vehicle in the future which performs like a beast
Nice video, thanks. Even though the truck looks nice, I feel that because of the massive price tag this set is underwhelming. And why does a fancy Technic set have to come with such sticker-terror?! At some point in time I will just buy the parts I miss, and build it for a fraction of the price Lego is asking. Different colors, weaknesses fixed and value for money. That's what I like;)
I believe adding a third axle would be the third most popular mod But this set is still overpriced, I know you mentioned the $400 trail truck, while at the same time, for a slightly higher price, you're better off getting a proper trail truck (TRX4, SCX10ii/iii etc)
Lego is being really stupid with that “no military stuff” policy, imo at least. Huge potential for good sets. Okay, war is not good, but they also provide massive technological advancements. Also, why tf did they make the sopwith camel then??!!
Honestly it could stand to be more front weight biased, that's great for crawling up things. But I still hate the new power up plugs, and don't intend on buying any. Its begging for portal axles, too, which I suspect will be a cool mod people make.
It seems that the truck was initially developped as a 6x6, after that it became 4x4 without shortening the wheelbase, strange. And why not using portal axles (front) for more ground-clearance. The big radius in steering is a shame. It needs a lot of modifications to get acceptable.
So many small improvements to be made... Might as well start over 😂 Although I would be much happier with a bit lighter a pricetag; PU being expensive will always be a constant though, I guess. 7/10
I was wondering... Why does everyone hates the 42070 ? I mean, I know it's lacking the finished touch, the suspension and was sold at high price ( I got mine at 125€, second hand so didn't had this part ) but it was a good set for what it was sold!
I have to object to 37:44, where you compared the manoevrability to the one of an aircraft carrier. Aircraft carriers are surprisingly agile for their size. Unlike this truck.
Hmm … planetary wheel hubs are cool and all, but they kill ground clearance. I think this model would have been much better off with the portal wheel hubs.
@@searme Thx for the fast answer. So i heard rumors :-(. I like the model, but 300 Euro for this set is too much. Thx for the super review video. Best greetings from munich.
*Hi Sariel, why is Lego releasing these sets without your approval??* If Lego would have made the right tyres it would look so much better. The ground clearance would be a bit better and it would be a bit faster. The Arocs wheels/tyres are too small? If those wheels/tyres would be a couple studs bigger they would be perfect. As always the online shop price will go down to around €200 and then it's still expensive. I guess Lego still needs to earn back the R&D costs for the Control+ stuff. My lucky number is 13 so I will need to buy it anyway... when the price has gone down.
Thanks Sariel for this awesome video. Definitively not for me... too many conception errors ... - control app+ is not durable for me... - why using this small accuators for suspension...it exists longer ones for this trial truck like the UNIMOG 8110 ... pfff... - steering for this model is a failure for me...not steering much angle... - why 2 L motors and not XL ones ? it could produce more speed or torque if there were a manual 2 gear box inside 1 for crawing and 1 for normal speed... 300 eu for this... to expensive... i'm disappointed by this set Keep doing excelent vid, Sariel ! Good work as always. Thanks again.
