A quick little review of the Tahu build from LEGO Classic set 11021, "90 Years of Play." No, of course I didn't review the whole set, why would I do that when I could talk exclusively about Tahu for seven minutes?
Poll said Bionicle won Lego: Hey, we're gonna celebrate *EVERYONE* Tahu must have a huge backpain tho, carrying the whole set awareness and popularity.
I mean, in fairness, this isn't the "big 90th Anniversary set" LEGO promised. This is just a fun side thing, and we won't really know what won the vote until they announce that set. But I totally agree, Tahu is definitely one of the best parts of this entire set and is absolutely one of the biggest reasons a lot of people bought it, myself included!
@@Versere The rumor mill says that Castle probably won the big vote. Which I honestly have issues with, not because of me being a nostalgia obsessed bonkle stan, but because Castle fans are already a bit spoiled, Classic Space probably would have been a nicer option, these guys need a bone thrown to them :c
While not much, some of the Lego Movie stuff was at the very least Classic Space-styled, and there was one set with a few different colored spacesuits. Castle is disappointing to me because it’s easily the most generic, like Pirates. Apart from the unique emblems for each faction, castles and pirate ships (being based on well-known real-life things) don’t really have their own unique aesthetic in the way that the sci-fi Lego themes did.
@@Versere I voted for BIONICLE both rounds and wrote an essay about the many interlocking reasons why I voted so. I also remember my other two votes were for Trains because we need more steam locomotive builds or to revive the theme outside of City, (however nice the recent Olton Hall/Hogwarts Castle builds become over time), and Dragon Knights because I felt that was a nice happy medium betwixt Kingdoms & Classic Castle and Fantasy Era (plus I don't recall Vikings being on the list for contention, a pity because that was always a cool Castle-type theme) - just in case some particular types are still saying _all_ the BIONICLE fans only voted for the one theme
@@jaredhebert942 Yeah, really don't get this stereotype. We're cultish but not THAT cultish. I voted for Paradisa along with bonkles cause I dig the vaporwarve aesthetic ffs.
Hearing you talk about the bionicle community was heart warming. The funny thing is that it reminded me that as a kid while bionicle was running and long after, I've never once ran into another bionicle fan in person lol
Personally I would rather have had something using mixel joints but I like that you can make all the different characters fairly simply using this build style
2:09 Tahu Stars looks like he's been through a war or twenty. I don't know what exactly makes him give off that energy, but he FEELS like he's been through a lot and barely came out alive. Meanwhile Tiny Tahu looks like a kid next to his grandpa.
I kinda feel this is more of a way for us Bionicle fans to keep telling the story of time before time once more to our children. Yeah sure I'd love a Bionicle gen 3 (or 4 if you want to consider this gen 3) but at the same time this feels something Lego should do with the brand and left the lore to others.
The music around the 4:00 minute mark really made me happy :) great review. Reminded me again of why bionicle is so special. The g1 era was something truly incredible. Mini Tahu is the perfect symbol for the theme.
After seeing the fan-made commercial of this guy made by Eric, I’ve switched to the angry eyes and changed his hands to red robot claws for wrist swivels. And despite some of the hang ups I still have about him...I still love this little Mini Tahu. Especially with how the community memed him and actually started mocing other Bionicle characters in his style.
I gotta admit, when I first saw this set, I was real mad about it, feeling like it was a suckerpunch after losing to castle. But look at that face, you can't stay mad at that.
I didn’t pay attention to this whole set or series of events surrounding this Tahu’s existence until now because he was so simply built that I didn’t realize it was Tahu and never dove into the whole thing
I would like to see theme make poly bags in this style. they would be the only Polly bags, and make them a little pack in with purchases ate lego stores or lego shop at home.
Never really grew with bioncle but always wanted to do stuff with them and Hero factory-I'm not connected but damn, somehow I was almost crying at the end due to how cheerful yet sad it sounded
OK. Who starts a RU-vid channel with a video so simultaneously heartfelt and polished as this? Dude comes out the gate with a banger! Great photos, excellently thoughtful writing, sincere and uplifting. Nice work!
I need a teddy bear sized plushie version of tiny Tahu. Actually, I think Lego really should make plushies of googly Tahu. I feel like they'd print money.
Hey lego! We love it! Give us more! Maybe a flaming castle like the home of the fire matoran he first wrnt to when he woke up. Actually I wouldn't mind them trying system sets again in this style. But now from any part of the series!
you were actually able to take apart mata nui without breaking him? seriously there was a design flaw on all bionicles of that era where they made the connectors for the ball joints so thin they easily broke
hes pretty sweet. only thing can be done to make him better. slope and plate that makes feet. tu use 2 3x1 plates and 2 1x1 slopes, feet are apart from each other just like legs
Wow, really? I just receive yesterday a compelte set of Toa Mata that I wanted since I was a child, and I don't follow what happened to bionicle these years. What a coincidence
Now. I am a fan through and through. While this isnt my favorite way of bionicle. It still shows that Lego still knows that Bionicle fans are still around and will always be around. Bionicle was one of the greatest things my younger mind has been exposed to, from the characters, toys, lore, and fans. It is amazing and will always be. Now if lego makes more bionicle. I will surely buy it
So the plan is we appear to be happy and make a big deal about this small build that maybe lego notices and brings back bionicle as a whole Watch it backfire and it never happens again
Kind of. I made the channel with the intent of doing a lot of reviews like this one, but never really had time until I decided to work on this one. More to come in the future, hopefully!
