LEGO City: Undercover Nintendo Switch / Wii U Graphical Comparison 

Funny how some people can't see differences. There's clearly less aliasing going on in the Switch version and there are improvements in texture quality and shadow resolution.

At 0:51 the police department logo looks way better on wii u.

A lot of minor upgrades in the Switch version, but I'm not a fan of Chase's new default police outfit.

I played this game originally on Wii U and then played it on switch a few years later. Now here I am 5 years after the switch port came out replaying it on Wii U again. I just think the Wii U version will always be the best version (to play solo at least since you can only play single player on Wii U) mainly because of the game pad and all the cool extra features that added to the game

On the Wii U the lighting resolution is much better. On the other hand the Switch has better graphics resolution.

I can't believe it but the Switch version has extra facial features.

While it looks much better on the Switch, there's a few things that look a tad better on the Wii U. I'm glad they improved the shadows my gosh, that ready does justice.

Shame they changed the uniform, looks like they goofed on the computer screens after it was fixed, and the lighting is a bur darker in places, but Switch version looks much improved graphically and that new cop car design is pretty neat.

I will say the graphics look nicer on the Switch, especially during gameplay. Though updating Chase's uniform and car was unnecessary, but oh well... it still looks good.

yeah, not enough to justify double dipping. Worth a buy if you missed it on Wii U though.

When I was playing the Nintendo Switch version, Honey didn't get into his car. And on the PC version, Honey's car was floating in the air. In the switch, the cut scene where Chase gets out of jail had no audio, and after I completed one of the quests, I drove the train to the other side of Lego City where a drawbridge was up, and oddly enough, my train drove through it, and floated on air, allowing me to go to the other side. Another bug for the PC is that when they first released it, it was only in window mode, and when they updated it, it was only in full-screen mode. Yeah, the new version is bugged, but then again, when a game is ported, it is bound to have a few bugs here and there.

I prefer the Wii U version for the brighter colors. Any of you forgot lego games aren't supposed to be dark with some yellow filters over it?

While the Switch version looks better in most regards, the shaders are doing some WEIRD stuff. Look at the faces and necks from 1:15 to 1:40 and the red shirt guy's mouth at 2:24. The Switch puts shadows in bizarre places.

The way this was recorded seems a bit inaccurate. If you watch other comparison videos you can see that the Switch version looks identical to the ps4 version, and they both look much better than the Wii u original.

switch version definitely has better textures and the resolution bump from 720p to 1080p helps a lot with the aliasing but there is still some noticeable jaggies in the shadows overall solid port

There are a lot of asthetic changes that I kinda-sorta prefer on Wii U. I mean the portability, shadows, and lighting improvements are nice, but the Wii U version kind of 'pops' with its color when there isn't as much in the way of advanced lighting That being said, none if the other versions fair much better, and in fact suffer from similar issues and lack of inprovements. I'll get this on Switch when the price drops

Not much of a change, just some colour changes and lighting. That said, I think the Wii U police officer outfit looks better on Wii U.

I remember when I was a kid, people had SNES and N64 was coming out, the difference in graphics were awesome, playing it was amazing. Same went for when the gamecube came. These days a new console comes out and I can't even tell the difference in graphics anymore.

In some scenes, the Switch looks better. In others, the Wii U.

I like the colours for the switch, but the performance and graphics are miles better in the WiiU.

so apparently if you look away during the 2 seconds they tell you which version is on what side you are SOL the rest of the video :-) I have no idea what I'm looking at and now I have to go back and try to find out. Virtually every other comparison video leaves the identifying hardware text or logo on the appropriate video. Just a though for your next video.

Switch is better in my opinion but the wii u version will always have a special place in my heart since it was the first and only version of the game for a while.

I'm sorry but did you guys not play with the TV-settings on the switch? You need to set it to full RGB to get the right image quality.

Lighting and Anti-Aliasing look much better on the Switch as well as other things like brightness, contrast and textures. Interesting how some people think the Wii u looks better..

Have there been any updates to change the complaints about this game that were leveled early on? I would love a patch update on these kind of reviews like SwitchUp does on the games they review. Unfortunately, Switch up didn't review this one so they don't have any patched up for it either.

In the close up cut scenes the Switch has some messy shadows, but jump to the open world gameplay around 5:14 and it looks so much better.

0:52 looks terrible on Switch, but otherwise the switch version looks better. Those shadows are still bad though and some geometry tearing. Some places the Wii U had higher quality models though, like his hair at 8:22 is clearly rounder on Wii U.

On the switch, I was building a disguise booth, and I got stuck in it. I can't get out D: Like, physically inside of it, not the interface thing. I can use "Return to Police Station", but no.

I played this game on the Switch, and it has big frame rate issues in the open world areas, both in docked and undocked mode.

I remember getting the Wii U just for Lego City Undercover. Great times. I unfortunately threw away my Wii U because of a puking cat.

Oh, God. What happened to the resolution and colours in that first shot of the Switch version? :-o And what's with the character's mouth clitching when he talks and the camera is up close? And why are many of the shots kinda dull and saturated on the Switch version too? Although, most of this stuff is during the cut-scenes only for the most part. And there's also something definitely up with the long lines of coins in the Switch version; it's almost as if the coins aren't even being generated more than a couple of feet from the camera and all we're seeing is the glow effect. The Switch version does obviously look better at times, but then not at others; this kind of stuff doesn't enamour customers to the publisher, developer, console, or the game. Seriously, every single aspect of the game should basically look and perform better on Switch. That fact it doesn't is just infuriating. Also, I really just hate all the loading in modern videogames. I cannot wait for the day some genius figures out a way to make hardware/software that basically gets rid of this for the most part.

Wii u version is brighter?

The Switch version looks only slightly better (mostly resolution and better lighting) and that's kinda disappointing. Don't waste your money on Switch remakes from Wii U if you already have that version (and that includes MK8) ; it's a waste of cash.

Okay, so the horrific load time is just a couple seconds better, Chase has a new uniform (with his badge on the wrong side), the graphics are better in a couple places but worse in most places for some reason, and the only good change is the crappy police car has been replaced by a really good one. Yea, my Wii U one is just fine.

I have a Switch and am getting this game tomorrow, but the reflections look much better in the Police Station on the Wii U. Hope this is just a case of poor video capture.

the one thing that they messed up was chase's police outfit. he is supposed to look like a cop from a 90's tv show or movie. they made him look like a guy that is part of the swat. tell me if you agree or disagree with me! i want to know what other people think about this costume change. i personally hate it.

Wii U version looked better at the beginning (better textures), but soon after the Switch version not only caught up, but easily surpassed it. Higher resolution, muuuuuch improved textures, better geometry on some of the models (in particular the side of the cliffs outdoors). I still think the Wii U did a couple of things better, namely reflections and shadows, but overall the Switch version is the superior version. Wonder how the Xbox One version compares. Either way, I remember being excited for the Wii U version when it was announced but I just never got around to buying it for some reason, so I'll definitely pick it up on the Switch. Glad TT and Lego have brought it back.

I always wanted to play this game. My friend got it for his birthday the year after it released, I got to watch him play it a bit, and not only is the humor great, but it looked like a lot of fun too.

Why are the colors so bad on the Switch? They had to go out of their way to change a lot of the world textures to make them look worse for some reason. Not to mention the sudden lack of color grading, and they're lower quality?? Kind of a sad Switch port. If it was at least more than 30 fps it'd be understandable, but...

There's some weird flicker in some areas on the Switch version, but otherwise, it's way better. Gonna miss the gamepad functionality, though at least the game runs better because it's not tethered to it anymore.

I haven't smiled so damn much while watching a comparison video. I owned the original game on the Wii U and fell for it ever since. Seriously debating to buy it for the switch for nostalgia

The switch version appears to have worse anti aliasing on the shadows if you pause at 2:19 Natalya's shadows are much smoother and less pixelated on the Wii U. Also on s:s4 the guy in the orange suit that says "charged" has that low poly shimmering effect, especially around the mouth on the Switch but not on the Wii U.. Also, the switch seems to be Darker for no real reason...
