Raising the buildings with some 3rd party plates is the perfect inexpensive use for those. City is coming along awesome!

I played around with this technique of raising the modular and I'm completely sold on it! I hated all the other ways but this makes it very sturdy and a cost-effective way to do it. I also like that the modulars are still easy to move around. Thank you for sharing this, I always appreciate your tips and tricks watching your city update videos!

Right? I wasn’t too keen on using card stock under the modulars especially since the height tolerances are very tight.

Comment for the front: the flower placement is a bit spare .You could consider more flowers grouped together. And the baseplate riser is 🤯

Brilliant solution to the modular height vs road plate issue. I've been mulling that one over myself for some time. Now I can stop mulling! :-)

Doesn’t it feel so satisfying when you figure out whats causing an issue with Lego math or studs not lining up. I know it pushes my buttons when it happens but the lightbulb moment makes it all worth it. I’m enjoying all your work good sir.

Agreed! I couldn’t quite figure out what was wrong with my platform heights and leveling until the lightbulb 💡 went off in my head 😂.

i never had any of the old roads too expensive i’ve only had the new ones and i love em
@MrBookieboo
@MrBookieboo 3 года назад
The old roads were nice for the symmetry - everything was a variation of 32x32 studs but they always looked weird to me. The sidewalks combined with modulars were huge. I like the new roads and their flexibility.

City is comming along nice. I hope to have my city back 100% by June. Need to pick up 1 more 8 foot folding table for my forrest area then relocate my train depot for my cargo train so my trains each have there own parking spots. Then once that is all done I plan to add a new thing to my amusement park which is a retired lego batman set that I got last year but waited so long to build it that the set is now retired. I also have assembly square and the bookshop that I need to build. Came across bookshop at target last week and since it is the last current modular I want I grabbed it even though originally I was planing to order it from lego later this year.

I did not expect that to be under the modular! 😅 Fantastic ‘road hack’ though! Like yourself I’m short on space, so would love to switch to the new road system. I wasn’t a fan at first, but I’ve definitely come around to them!

That is rumor that lego is also retiring the base plates. It would be nice to know how Lego are going to connect the new modulars to the new road plates. So when release the new modulars they would fit in our new city layout.
@MrBookieboo
@MrBookieboo 3 года назад
I’ve heard that rumor too, I guess we’ll find out in a few months what Lego’s plan is. I’m hoping they move baseplate production in house.
@bricktopian

I think they said they are only retiring them in their current format. I think they will re-release them straight after with a new product code and possibly additional colours

Love what you're doing with the front of the city with the waterfalls and the creek! Just a very minor "issue" for me would be that it maybe looks a little too symmetrical from the front. I'd consider moving the creek (when it goes under the railroad tracks) a bit more to the left and maybe have it run a little less straight when it goes under the railroad tracks. Very curious to see what the rest of the city is going to look like! Keep up the good work :)
@MrBookieboo
@MrBookieboo 3 года назад
Good advice, I tried really hard for a “natural” look which is very tough in my symmetrical head 🤪.
@Benny_000
@Benny_000 3 года назад
@@MrBookieboo Yes I tend to suffer from the same issue :P But since I've been watching a lot of video's on youtube on pond and waterfall builds for in the garden, I've gotten a better feel for creating a more natural look. It can be quite difficult to mimick nature :)

Thank you for showing that modular adaption technique, are you putting anything under the roads in your city or is the base plate, plate and tile with minipeg just to compensate the height of the road? City so far is looking good as well :)
@MrBookieboo
@MrBookieboo 3 года назад
Correct, the new roads are placed directly on the table top. The baseplate/plate/tile peg raise the modular to the correct height (for me).
