I really was fortunate enough to have owned a LOT of those classic Space Sets (from between 80 to 87). Most of them i played a short while with and then demounted them to create stuff from my own imagination. But i perfectly remember the front-ship-part of this set to be one of the few if not the single one that i kept like it was nearly all the time since i found the design of that ship so appealing that i could not "improve" it. On top of that this brought me my only two clear blue dishes...some lego parts were valuable for me like gemstones as a kid...sounds crazy i know...but those two were amongst them. Thanks for bringing up good old memories Jang!

Amen to that. I think that was exactly what the Lego company anticipated and it was certainly the culture among most of my friends and I. This beauty seems to share a lot of design cues with the Gamma V from the same year - it seems the 'swan-neck double-delta' was the look for 1985!

I bought it when I was 13 years old with my own money ;) About 5 years ago my brother gave it back to me, and it is now in my in a glass cabinet my living room, and its still an awesome litte model

But why do you think that? Are you a kid of the 80's and it's actually the nostalgia factor that makes you feel that way? Personally, that is the case with me. I do however loved the simplicity of the sets back then. The pieces from multiple sets could be used to create original creations and the colors worked really well together.

This was the first Space Lego set I got. Before that I only had Fabuland. From this point on I was only interested in Space Lego, no other themes ever did it for me, I was basically Benny from the Lego Movie!

Same here, joe. I wish we could still get the engine thruster pieces in sets still... Can u get them on bricklink? If so, I will buy some... I will turn my 2in1 ice cream truck that parks on ten quid notes into a super stellar SPACESHIP ice cream truck... :)

The main engines are on the bottom and rear wings--- The center engines are only used to when you split into the forward module.

Ohh - I got this on x-mas in 1985. I stopped with Lego until last year. Unfortunally my father sold all of my old Lego at the fleamarket, because I wasn't interestet anymore - noooooo;(

I had this set and only thing that irritated me was the side arrows on the aft compartment. They were both identical so one pointed forward and the other pointed backward. I always thought that it was an error but this set have the same issue so I guess that it was on purpose.
