@@TiagoCatarino hey tiago i ordered this set off legos website the day it released but for some reason im not able to figure out when its supposed to get here or if its being shipped yot do you have any idea what might be going on with it as a former lego company employee
@@marcuscostello5635 i was never into the sets except the block and it seemed expensive. i mean optimums prime seemed awesome but was disappointed. the bowser is a great build though
It looks like a great set. The functions make me consider what other 'puppet' sets they could release. Maybe a Muppet or Pinocchio set? I think the integration with the Super Mario courses is something they're obligated to do, even with the adult themed sets. It's sad that they didn't send you the set, so hopefully my continued subscription will help recoup the costs of the build. Thanks for going out of your way to buy and review it for us.
The functions make assembly very tedious. Lots of small internal parts... Some of which were missing from set. My advice is don't buy this horrible set
This would be a perfect “dad” set, great display piece for the office, and can play with the kids, the two phase thing can make for an excellent cinematic thing
Tiago, great review! Seeing you use the play features made this set finally make sense to me. Your comment at the end about how unique the Mario line has been made me realize why I enjoy it so much!
@@TiagoCatarino when u finished it did u have 4x spare black technic pins everything works fine but now ik kinda paranoid that something will break cause im pretty sure i should not have that many extra pieces
I’ve only have the arms to go as this being my 4th big boy adult set, watching this come together in the build is magnificent. Lego designers are true engineers. Been loving your content and great review
I have no connection to Super Mario! But I sure like this set. Price wise I think it’s so so, but with a decent GWP and double VIP I think this is a buy!
Just got it for roughly 170 euros here in Sweden and I couldent be happier! That's a fantastic value by the amount of bricks it has! Now I just have to wait all week untill it arrives :(
@@Hether6971 Well In Swedish krona its about 2900 sek on the lego website. In normal toy and like baby stores etc you can always find lego for much cheaper then on the lego website! Its around 2200-2300 sek In most toy stores and one particular store hade a holiday sale with 25% discount on all toys. So its a crazy good deal compared to the original price!
Easily my favourite of the D2C Mario sets as I own an NES and CRTV so having a model of them would be odd, and just a massive cube didn’t interest me at all. This one is gorgeous and I’ve been really into buildable characters and creatures lately. Though the price here in Canada is very large (over $300) I’m still thinking of picking it up.
Great review and appreciated candor! Glad you agree on the base option. I really think LEGO needs to start to limit sets to USD$300 for awhile. And even that still seems too high. But we all love our big and complex sets that look great and appreciate there is a cost associated with this.
Hey tiago, I have a thing to ask. I wanna buy a lego set (preferably creator or speed champions) under 30 usd. Can you (or anybody else in the replies) give me a good recommendation.
Between this and the Mystery Block what would you recommend, anyone who has one or both sets? I love both builds but dang Lego is expensive, especially when every "adult" set is hundreds of dollars
I think this is great way for adults to play with their kids. The kid can play through the course until they get to the mighty bowser being controlled by the parent. The concept is simple enough but really effective
I keep going back and fourth on this set, I want it, but the cost makes me recoil. Looks like a fun build and falls in line with several of my interest (humanoid builds with joints, video games, display pieces). The Mario sets in general have been "weak" as a display, but this makes me really want to setup a Mario level diorama.
@@criticalboot2567 mixed. Had some good parts that I could use elsewhere, but the cost for those particular parts wasn't worth it, and the sets per bag themselves did nothing for me as an AFOL. We bought like 2 or 3 of them and left it at that. I liked the idea, final execution just wasn't for me.
What is your usual Lego budget? Even if you can't afford it now, start saving a bit each paycheck, and get it later. It'll feel a whole lot better than getting it now, then needing to eat ramen for the next month.
@@jardex2275 I don't have a set budget, just soul crushing guilt when I've spent too much - which will quickly happen with this set HAHA. (In all seriousness I compare the cost to other forms of entertainment, this is practically a Nintendo Switch, for something that will just be a display piece, so its just hard to swallow that cost without apprehension)
I love your reviews, they don’t simply showcase the products (which most other reviews do IMHO), but give greats insights about the building techniques used and make me appreciate sets - and the work put in by the designers - much more. Keep it up!
The added super mario elements are great for parents who like lego, since now they can have a great looking set made for adults that also works as a toy that they can use to play with their kids with. All around reqlly cool set that i'll definitely be picking up!
Good looking build. Price tag going to keep most away tho. Like the Atari build, a regular toy would provide more far play value. REALLY niche market for this set given the cost.
I've got to admit it's cool-looking with some neat mechanisms and looks. Unfortunately, my disinterest in Mario stuff outweighs by interest in Lego here. And I bought Optimus Prime despite not being a TF fan, it was just a neat set! Here? Meh. It's size and what is just doesn't interest me. It does look neat with neat mechanisms. But I'll pass. I suspect in Nov or Dec Lego will have a really neat set I cannot resist.
I brought my Lego dollars off for £200 from smyths Lego in the U.K. I really love this I think it’s worth it with all the play features and I really enjoyed it 9 out of 10 for me 👍
Loved it from first reveal. Spectacular build/display model, and packed with fun play features. Price unfortunately a bit steep as this 350+ here in Canada. Still Lego did an amazing job.
Again something completely different compaired to other sets. Great thing, that there is still room for something new. Makes it kind of a must have for fans of "something special" - yep I will buy one. :)
It’s a really cool build, but sadly just not a character or theme I’m interested in. The shell looks amazing, makes me think this could be MOCd into a teenage mutant ninja turtles statue! That would be cool! 🤔🤷
My 20th birthday is coming up really soon, and my grandma definetly not suspiciously at all asked me "If you could have ANY LEGO set you want, price is no object, which one would you get?" Now, there are of course the obvious answers, the Millennium Falcon, the UCS Landspeeder, the Death Star, maybe even the Colosseum, but my choice was Bowser. I'm a huge Nintendo fan, and between this, the NES, and the ? Block, this has more impact for me. I love collecting figures/statues of characters, and while the ? Block is cool, I don't have much if any nostalgia for Super Mario 64, and while I think the NES is great, it's not my favorite Nintendo console out there. Bowser however is a cool statue, an awesome and fun to build looking set, and a rather unique piece of Nintendo merch all things considered. We'll have to wait until Halloween to see what happens, but let's hope that the King of the Koopas decides to pay me a visit. (though, I'll really be happy with any LEGO set I get, regardless of price or size)
I think the price per piece isn't bad, but if it were only $200-230 I would be more apt to get it. I have the ? Block and NES sets and I think this would make a great addition to that, but at almost $300 after taxes it's hard. Either way it looks super awesome.
This looks awesome and I wanna get this set, but $500 is BS. I bought a Switch Lite 3 years ago and it costs $200, which I understand for a gaming device, but 500 for a box of plastic bricks?
For someone who hasn't touched a lego set in more than 5 yrs i gotta say that this one was extremely easy and fun to build. Apparently he has more than 8k pieces but it felt like he had only 10. Functions really well (not for playing with kids ofc, i see it more like a display figure)
It’s tempting but I think I will pass. The functions are cool, but I will literally never use them. I would prefer a larger model that has no functions, or a smaller and cheaper model. At the end of the day, it’s just going to sit on my shelf, so this one is a little small for the price.
Such a cool set, one of the most interesting sets of this year. It looks amazing and the functions are brilliant. But it is very big, not easy to display. For now I built a small bowser, hopefully I’ll get the big one too 😅
If you want to know about my dream keep looking at this post If you really want to know it was about the lego bowser but knight form we were building it at school and it was much bigger than this
