tony’s “No! come this way i’m gonna miss this stud!”, with all the sincerity and concern, is such a perfect representation of playing this game with siblings growing up
RIGHT LMAO. I WANTED ALL THE STUDS SO I COULD COMPLETE TRUE JEDI BUT MY STUPID SIBLING JUST WANTED TO SPEEDRUN OR SOMETHING LIKE ION WANNA DO STORY MODE AGAIN😭😭
Hearing them argue on going with the camera really shows how it was playing this with siblings growing up. It was like the original UNO with the amount of relationships it could destroy.
As a kid, my only exposure to the plot of Star Wars was through the LEGO game, so I was astonished when I actually watched the movies as an adult and there were a ton of scenes that I didn’t remember from the games
@@VelociraptorousRex It did and there is actually a cutscene in the game which depicts a scene that did not actually make it into the movie and ended up as a half finished deleted scene on the dvd.
Man, the memories of "STOP YOU'RE KILLING ME!!" and the "just put down your controller" strat - which in places didn't work, and then you're back on the same team trying to outwit that fucking camera tug. I kind of hope the new games with that neato splitscreen function have a legacy mode to enable trashcam
It's comforting to know that the co op camera was a genuine issue with this game and I wasn't just terrible at it lol. I was super young when I played so could never be sure
I have a fear of the character creator. My sister would always spend eternities customizing her character. So when we revisited it last year I saw the character tank and ran away and said nope nope nope not today pulling her away from it hahaha. She remembered exactly why I was doing it. The memories this game holds are outstanding.
@@lilvern9268 100% episode 5 first and get all the red bricks for multipliers then save up for those and you won't have to think about true jedi or saving up ever again. I went through episode by episode for purity first time getting 100% last week but if I were to 100% again I'd do that first, it would have saved so much time
"The Mona Lisa... Michelangelos David... Lego Star Wars... the dancing fox football robot named Cletus... These things are all unrelated" I appreciate the info Eddie 😂
My childhood friend was a super fan of Star Wars, particularly the prequels (having just premiered in theaters with us, then-elementary school kids, being the clear target demographic /cough). Whether it was a game, toy, costume, or decoration, if it was Star Wars-themed, he had it. It nearly reached hoarder status by the end of elementary school. We'd play his video games every time I visited, and roughly half of whatever Star Wars or off-brand duplicate games we played together I felt pretty neutral towards. If it didn't have Ewan McGregor, my schoolgirl-celebrity crush, it didn't do much for me, but I always wanted to see my best friend happy, and he seemed happiest when we played any SW game together. We were still lively and goofy while playing anything, too, so he made it fun regardless. And then, suddenly... He showed me Star Wars Battlefront II and Lego Star Wars. Waiting until I could go to his house to play them couldn't satisfy my cravings for more Ewan McGregor, especially the best and most expressive pantomime ever given by a silent Lego version of him. I went through hell and high water to earn enough to purchase those two games for the PS2 my family shared because I craved 24/7 access. Seeing the two-player game footage here brought back so many funny and silly moments of my friend and me playing the game together. c:
IM SO GLAD YOU MENTIONED LEGO CITY, i used to spend HOURS in there and it is such a core part of my childhood that no one else seems to ever remember! it's iconic. to me.
For us it was in Return of the Jedi where you had to kill the emperor. We were too stupid to realise that once electrocuted you had to switch characters and hit him that way💀💀💀But yeah Hoth was incredibly frustrating especially when losing the explosive.
what a nostalgia trip, I haven't thought about this game in years. I've got to go play this again! The hardest hit for me was the mention of Lego city, this game was already hidden away in my memory, but that was a little fireproof safe in the floor of my memory. So, thanks for that.
One of my favorite parts of the game was actually the charm of the cameras. When my brother was close to an edge or something I'd always try to knock him off and he'd do the same to me. We had a great time with that.
this is one of the first video games I remember playing as a kid. My brother somehow convinced my mom to buy it, and we played for hours. One of the most significant bonding moments I had with my brother who’s 11 years older than me. Special game even if it’s just for the nostalgia.
This video is really well put together. Really makes me feel nostalgic, now I want to go back and play the game again. Great work guys, loving the videos on this channel.
This channel is absolutely smashing it out the park right now. I love the combination of sibling bickering and genuinely slick scriptwriting and editing. This video feels like you have the template nailed and have found your groove. Keep it up
The clone wars game is so slept on. The character creator is awesome you can make your lightsaber any color. And the game has like an entire RTS game mode in it that’s super fun and addictive. You should definitely play it.
I really relate to the constant bickering over the screen pulling. I remember having a FIT over my friend constantly killing me because he wouldn’t let me get my bearings and would keep trying to move on while I was collecting coins and stuff 💀💀
One time when I was 7 (way back in 07, yeah that's right I'm a 2000 kid give me money) I accidentally killed my sister in the first level of IV and my sister pushed me by the head off my bed and I fell head first into my toy bin and had a big harry potter esque cut on my forehead. This game destroyed sibling relationships but also gave them something to talk about 15 years later.
My brother and I JUST finished replaying star wars the complete saga together on the Wii. It's such a classic, I love it so much and we had an awesome time doing it
I am so so happy I found this channel you guys are incredible and exactly the video review/essay style I love to watch! Plus it's awesome having two commentators as well!
I've been replaying this with my little brother for the past few months! Been playing it together since it came out. We always restart from 0% and try and get to 100% (sorta, its not a commitment its just a direction we pretend to care a lot about while mostly goofing around). We got the closest this time! over 90%! It was during this playthrough that we finally got curious what the blue minikits were lmao
immediately sent this to my older brother who used to play this game with me as kids. Im visiting him in two weeks and hoping to bring the playstation 2 with me so that we can replay this together while im there. thanks for reminding me of the good memories and keep making videos like this! im enjoying it so much!
6:27 "they definetely will" - you guys haven't played any of the recent lego games it seems 😄 they've gotten rid of the merging splitscreen quite some games ago, which I found kind of sad. The screen now is split into two most of the time without any option to merge it. Maybe they thought the twisting splitscreen line was making people sick or something, my brother and I found it really neat.
First game I saw it in was Lego Harry Potter, which I thought it was perfect for, cause I thought it was supposed to be magic when I was a kid. Also holy crap that game came out 12 years ago now
It seems the new game will be entirely over-the-shoulder camera instead of using the fixed perspective, so the merging screen wouldn’t make much sense. I read an interview somewhere that Tt originally went with the semi-fixed view so that kids new to gaming didn’t need to worry about camera controls. Nowadays, the popularity of games like Fortnite and Minecraft among young kids has made the devs realize they don’t need to simplify the game as much. (Plus they can assume a base level of familiarity with camera controls). Hopefully this leads to even better level design!
Lego Star Wars was before my time but I had such a good time watching the stream and this video it brought me back to when I was a kid watching my brother play games! These videos + streams show me all the games I missed out on, but I feel like I'm playing them for the first time when I watch y'all. Keep up the amazing work!
Great video! Y’all are super underrated. I have such fond memories of playing this game over and over again with my sister and my dad, and you expressed that nostalgic love so perfectly in this video! Cant wait to see what y’all talk about next! Keep up the amazing work!
i never really played video games as a kid, but i would watch my brother play this game for HOURS. the argumentative sibling energy of this video is bringing so much nostalgia i love it
I just wanna say that I played this game with my brother when we were kids and you guys talking about this game brings me back hard core to those days. Part of me just misses my brother as we now live across the country from one another, but also just how simple and easy our relationship is and how games like these brought us together. So many hours put into bond games, lego star wars, and a million other shitty ports to the gamecube that we played; I miss it. Keep it up, this is one of my new favorite channels. you guys are awesome!
Keep it up - the focus on 2000s games is so so welcome and your review style is excellent. You say so many things that I remember from my experience playing this game that I don’t hear any one else actually talking about I saw this and the Harry Potter video and wanted to binge all your 100s of videos but found you only have a few (all amazing tho). Please keep going with these 2000s classics!
Great video guys! It perfectly balanced comprehensibility and wit in a way that accurately captured our childhood memories while still being entertaining to watch. You two put thoughts I didn’t even know I had into such clear words that I felt like we were growing up in the same house! The Twitch streams were a wonderful treat to tune into as well. Thank you so much for taking the time to explore this precious relic of my youth and I wish you all the best! Love ya boys!
ahhhhhhh sweet childhood memories of getting stuck really early into the game, not knowing how to get out of the area i was stuck in, and giving up. those were the good ol days
this video was so much fun, just like the game. i didn't play it a ton as a kid but spent hours watching my brother play, which is a testament to how genuinely fun the game was. for many people i know, lego star wars is their favorite piece of star wars media!
that “art style” intro quip at 7:26 was so good and caught me well off guard and had me laughing. For the first video of yours i’ve seen this is amazing and i’ll be watching more for sure, congratulations on earning a new subscriber, great content guys.
my brother and i used to play this on our shared gameboy. we have a 10 year age gap so this was one of the things we bonded over. now i play it on steam whenever i have free time. it's such a good game to play if you want to relax and have a fun time.
