The newer one is definitely better but I think I just prefer the 2007 version because I like Jedi interceptors better and it looks cool in blue..

Could you compare the 2002 Jedi Starfighter to the current version?

right now, at their respective prices, I think the old one is a way better option. I personally also prefer the more in scale sized vehicles than the bigger more detailed and feature packed ships that sometimes just look weird from nowadays (this was also the case when I was a kid)

Something about the new one’s cockpit looks off to me. I think it’s too high and bulky.

You forgot to talk about the missiles on the rings. The new one has the spring loaded, which is fine, but the old one just had little cone pieces on technic rods as it's own early flick-fire missiles, which fell out every time you tilted it downwards.

It doesn't affect the review, but I just wanted to mention that R4-P17 is actually a she. I don't think it's ever referenced in the movies but it's still nice to know. Oh, and I think that the model for the episode 3 Interceptor looks a lot better than the Delta model from the new set.

If you adjust for inflation, the old set was worth about $60. The new set has about 200 more parts (worth about $20 more bucks). The new one also has two more minifigs. (2 of them are also pretty rare but IDK how much more $ they add to the cost but lets just say $15). If you add it up the new set should be about $95. So, basically $100 is not that bad. Some people thought it was overpriced but if you think about it $100 is reasonable (ish). The price per part ratio is a little crazy.

I own both, got the 2007 set for Christmas that year and bought myself this year's the other day, and I have to say, it's a tough call between them. While I have loved the older one, it's flaws have shown over time, and although representing a different design, the new set has addressed my issues with the older set. Indeed, I have dismantled the 2007 ring to make room for the new set, make of that what you will. I can't really choose which starfighter design is my favourite, they're both great, however directly between the sets, the Delta 7 takes it, but newer Eta 2 iterations (9494, 75135, 75038) would put up a better fight. Overall, 7661 was good for it's time, but a decade later and 75191 gets my vote. Lego will get extra marks if future starfighters are 2017 ring-compatible! :P

looking through the comments everyone seems to like the episode 3 jedi starfighter more. I personally love the episode 2 version more. because I love the design more. just how sleek and long it looks with the cockpit at the very back, instead of the episode 3 one that is too similar to a tie fighter.

I love the old set and I have it myself, but I love the new one too despite the price is so high and I think Im gonna buy it 👍🏻

These are my dream sets. Ever since I was a child I've wanted the hyper space ring. Definetly getting it next time they release it.

I think the astromech is worth some excitement. However that is probably because I use them in my displays as much as possible.

You could plop all of R4 in his storage area and remove the lid to make a Clone Wars version.

In the old set, I would have included Obi-Wan and Allya Secura because I think that Obi-Wan borrowed the ship from her. Tell me if I am wrong.

I feel like it would be really cool if in the future, characters like kit fisto who have extra appendages on the head (also twi’lek’s and quarrens) could have those parts made out of a more rubbery part to allow for more poseability

Personally I just like the older LEGO set (newer ship) just based on design alone as I never really thought the pizza shape of the first Jedi fighter was appealing. I obviously got the LEGO and toys since it was the only starfighter from episode 2 but the episode 3 version was one of my favorite ship designs in Star Wars as a whole specifically loving how it basically mixed the concepts of a Tie fighter with the cockpit design and wing shape in attack mode and mixing it with an A-Wing or Snowspeeder AND it was for the good guys this time! Based on LEGO the new version is clearly way better but the ship design will always go to the blue Jedi fighter.

Anyone notice that r4 in the 3rd movie is completely red even the body. You’ll be able to see it when it zooms in his head

The original does the hyper drive ring better. The ship is more centered. Also the ship looks better, it is easier to do an episode 3 delta, compared to the eta. The cockpit is to high in the newer one it needs to be more flush with the rest.

For the older one, I just held it in the middle under the ship. Why would you hold it on the top?

I think the first one is better. The reason behind that is because that kitfisto and the old Obi-Wan were just great. And the P2 Jedi star fighter has always looked better to me, and the dark blue color scheme just looked so sleek. The gold Astromech droid was just so cool to see. But yeah, the new one is great and all, but, ya gotta give it to the first one. I already have the Jango, and he's a great fit In the set. Young Boba has never been that interesting to me at all. The new ones got a better build in the case of sturdiness. I love them both, but I gotta go with the older one.

Both are cool!! Good sets overall the newer one a bit on the expensive side.

The old version is episode 3 and the newer version is episode 2

Great review! I personally disagree with the newer set being better, solely based on accuracy to the source material and overall cost of the set. Really, this video just makes me wish I could afford the old one now. Haha

I prefer the eta 2 interceptor blue one over obi wan ship. The older hyperspace ring was an upgrade over the episode 2 version.

I like the Original one more. It looks better and it has a personal value for me. Got it from my aunt who I really liked and she sadly died

The older set has a few issues that were solved by the new one, however I still prefer the old one purely because the interceptor actually docks with the ring. In the new model, the starfighter just sits on top of the middle section, which is very inaccurate and looks laughably bad.

I have the newer one (and the old one) and they're just so good (especially the new one) !!!

Just for the fact that the old one has an Eta Actis Interceptor makes it better than the new one. I don't like the Delta 7 design

I like the newer hyperdrive ring better, but the older ship looks way better imo. The windows especially look great, as well as the colour scheme.

I love these comparisons. From the design,the new one is better,from the Minifigure's too.But the price....it's too much.I think it should be 60-75.I still have to say,the new one is better.

I hate that new one, the fighter is so far above the centre support. I mean for god's sake, they're supposed to be on the same plane! I don't care how good the release feature is, if it means sacrificing that much realism it just won't fly as far as I'm concerned.

No it looks not cleaner. The old version looks so sleak and beautiful ant the new one is too fat. For 2 times the price I would expect a more accurate, more beautiful design!

Both of the sets have an Obi-Wan minifigure. Kenobi: I don’t like flying, because most of the time, a huge peach thingy is gripping my ship, and a smaller one is tearing it to pieces.

in my opinion i much prefer the origional. the engine design on the hyperdrive ring is far better. also the episode 3 starfighter looks far better but thats just my opinion

For $100 some bucks on new set no thanks the boost dock is cool and mechanism but the Starfighter is way to small of modle and the dome cockpit is just weird looking I'd still buy it once lower price but I'd modify the bigger version of Obi-Wans Starfighter on its landing boosters or build it with new plans that's what's awesome about legos..
