I work at a lego store, and a customer came up to me and ranted about why the set sucks (because it’s not canon, it should’ve been the regular one, etc.) and said that it’s gonna sell very poorly. Lo and behold, we sold through all 56 of our stock on launch day and he bought it as well.
@@parminderjaura5642 I work at a Lego store too, 56 is crazy! We’re a smaller store in a mall and only got 11 for aug 1st and sold out in the first hour
I see that it is on backorder, but there are plenty of other retailers that have them available for shipping or pick up. Amazon, Walmart, Barnes & Noble...I got mine from Amazon within 2 days.
@@parminderjaura5642 What a killjoy. Are they not aware of just how many CANON Millennium Falcon sets there are? This isn’t even Lego’s first “non canon” set!
"You'll never see a _Star Wars_ line like _The LEGO Batman Movie,_ with so many original or remixed concepts, because _Star Wars_ fans would get mad if [The LEGO Group] gave it that treatment, that these [are] distractions from their favorite designs that already exist." - Nick Anderson, _The LEGO Rewind Batman Holiday Special_
and he's not really wrong, a lot of more star wars-focused lego youtubers are criticizing this set because it takes up another spot, which afaik pffffff
He wasn't really wrong. There has been quite a lot of negativity regarding the show from star wars fans. Simply because it's not canon and too goofy. Many Lego fans are also calling these sets a waste of space/shelf warmers. Since they think these sets take up valuable product slots for other potential sets. Ofc, I don't agree with any of these, especially since the show isn't even out. However there is definitely quite a bit of discontent from both sides of the consumers
The chat about inflation was good. And you still acknowledged the ridiculous price. And you still like it. Opinions respected. This is why Jangbricks is my go to lego reviewer, the lego set isn’t real until he’s had it in hand.
Nice lego set but LEGO really needs to start doing more printed pieces in their sets. LEGO is not a cheap toy and getting stickers instead of prints feels kinda cheap. Don’t get me wrong they’re high quality stickers but prints would be nice for these $100+ sets. LEGO has the most expensive toy in stores.
this set is really cool, and i love the amount of just space that's inside, so many sets, star wars or otherwise, just never have enough space inside them for figures. the white darth vader is cool but i do agree, the eyes needed a tint of blue or something, it feels like an unfinished mold
12:16 ..."If you can get past the desire to just hate and just feel rage about everything all of the time." Jang, these are STAR WARS FANS you're talking about. (In all seriousness, great review! I don't plan on getting it because personally I've never been a fan of how LEGO designs the playscale Falcons, but for what it is it's very nice.)
I dont own this but i love the "non-canon" star wars sets, theyre fun they fit with Lego's stance on play, to have fun, i want more "non canon" stuff. Heck were getting a non canon set with the lego store exlcusive this fall (wont say due to not wanting to spoil it for others). I love the mechs and hope we get more. This overall is a fun set.
My one issue, when looking at this and the Star Destroyer that came out the very same day, I feel like the Star Destroyer is a much better value, especially in the long term. And I don't mean that in some investment way, I mean that in 2 years time I will still appreciate having a Star Destroyer and will still be enjoying it, and I don't think I can say the same about this set.
Well much like the Solo Movie Falcon it is nice to see a different version of an iconic ship, especially knowing after this series ends we will likely never get these again.
It's out of my price range, but I do like the toy. I'm really looking forward to seeing the show so we can see what the story with these characters is.
give it 5-10 years and this will be a highly coveted set and all the purist who are mad at all the rebuild of the galaxy stuff will be searching for this set for a decent price, the exact same thing happened with the jek14 sets and now collectors want that set because they missed out
I've ordered this set and can't wait to start building it. I noticed the hinges of the fold out segments have changed and are more like the Falcon's rather then the last set.
Being a happy owner of the TRoS Falcon I'm familiar enough with the build of this one to attest that the Dark Falcon is not only even better, but also a really *consumer-friendly* decision. Hear me out: by modeling (and improving on) it after the best Falcon so far, Lego ensures a desirable model for most people who don't have one yet, and still being similar enough that people not fond of its silliness won't feel missing out a totally new iteration. Even the figures, while being pretty cool, don't feel "necessary" to a collection. It feels to me like a completely optional model, and yet they didn't pull punches with the cool factor. I want many more smart moves like this one from Lego.
The color scheme of this set reminds me of the old alpha team Ogel sets, wouldn't be surprised if people make mocs with that windshield part tied to that in the future.
I'm really loving all the legends figures lego has released in recent years (187th Legion, malak, infinities vader, hoth scout trooper etc.) I hope they keep it up!
I actually love this set! A black Millenium Falcon, a white Vader, how cool is that! I love the What if... scenario, it adds to an already huge universe, don't hate it, don't buy it if it's not your cup of tea, but remember, it's Lego, it's pure imagination, have fun with your imagination. Thanks for the review, Jang !
It’s true that its sticker price on the official Lego site is “cheaper” compared to what it’s based off of: 75257. However, 75257 is currently selling for $136 at most major retailers (Amazon and Target). Lego also still sells the normal falcon for $10 cheaper. This makes the dark version “feel” substantially more expensive when both are seen on shelves at the same time (indeed this may even be why 75257 is being placed on discount-to move them off shelves faster and make room for the dark version.) Great review as always, but I do think it’s important to call out the mirror counterpart in this case, even if it’s older. When parents or uncles shop, they might just see $136 for a falcon or $180 for a recolored falcon. “Why would I pay almost 33% more for a different color? Let’s get the $136 one.”
The colour scheme on this makes it the best looking falcon. But it’s different in the show the front opens revealing a ramp down and not the sides which is weird how they couldn’t get it right.
The more I see of the Dark Falcon, the more I want it. Yeah, it is expensive, but I can always cut back on going out to eat as often and save up the money over a couple of months. The main problem is I don't have room to display a set that big.
As a star wars fan was was initially going to get these but will instead get the new guardians milano set as that looks like a much better build and value than this for the same price. I also have the last millenium falcon so only the minifigures seem worth it for this set.
I REALLY like this whole rebuild the galaxy idea and I really can't wait to see more sets they come up with, it's just such a fun idea, especially for someone who doesn't care all that much about star wars outside of lego star wars and doesn't really care about things being canon or the next ship that I don't even really know (I do still like them of course but I'm much more excited and interested in something like this), I hope they try and do it the other way a bit more as well, like with the jedi vader, a rebel deathstar would be a pretty cool idea or rebel star destroyer
My only big gripe is that the inside red pieces aren't trans-red rather than standard red. I think that would have just make it look so much cooler when it is opened up.
I kind of just want that version of Darth Vader lol (OK, Jar Jar too). Love the joke here, but it's too much for me to spend on a joke. But this set is bound to be a valuable collector item once it's discontinued.
Just rewatched your review from the first Falcon from 2000! Why is that one so much better than the recent ones!? I got no nostalgia as I didn't grew up with it but the old one has so much more whims and imagination
It actually baffles me theres anyone that thought this set was NOT going to be hugely populer, I almost never buy new and this thing was pre-ordered to be safe. All the signs were there, a brand new stew star wars theme sub-type, a new and interesting variation of the falcon and the main draw new and interesting variations on existing charatcers we may not see again, especially the long awaited Redemmed vader and darth Jar-jar.
The best Millenium Falcon and it's from a silly "What If" shadow universe. Just can't help but find that a bit ironic. Though I do really love this and look forward to picking it up... Someday. Maybe next year's May 4th or earlier with a decent GWP.
I'd be tempted to change out the exterior grey for bright red. Is the build similar to the 75257? I just built that one in May for the 4th week. It looks pretty similar. I'm curious where the extra piece count over the 75257 went into. I'll consider this one on sale. I love Sith colors and ships. I'm not surprised it went on backorder quickly.
I have the Ep 7 Falcon and don’t see myself ever getting another Falcon. It’s cool to have one, but due to its size and odd shape they’re hard to display/store.
Darth Jar Jar may not be canon... yet! 😄 Jedi Vader is hilarious. You'd think he'd change to a less intimidating looking mask instead of just making it white haha. Gotta admit, the Falcon looks good in black and red!
I love this rebuild the galaxy theme and hope it does well. Lots of great potential for some really creative remixes of things. I've already bought this and the x-wing/tie combo, will probably pick up bob's starfighter in the future when my wallet permits. Kind of looking forward to combining bob's starfighter with obi-wan's delta 7 to create a really cool twin-cockpit jedi fighter of some sort.
It looks sturdy at least. My friend gave me a Force Awakens Millenium Falcon and it fell apart and lost pieces whenever I moved it anywhere, so I pieced it out for a castle (with his permission). For a parody set, it IS a pretty high price. Do kids really go for this alternative history Lego Star Wars stuff?
I am kinda hype for this. I just bought the Lego falcon and I think the two of these together will look cool. That said this just came out so no rush to buy it.
This set looks good, but I'm also just so curious what those figures will be worth in a decade. I'm not normally concerned with resale value of Lego or toys in general but this is such a oddball selection of stuff that I don't think Lego will ever make again.
Nice review. Problem is, I just can't digest this set for $180 and think back to only 2 years ago the $100 Sith Inquisitor Ship with 4 vs. 6 figs that are equally cool, although less unique and collectable. Does that mean the build quality has drastically improved or is it more likely Lego's greed has really ramped up this year?? I just don't see what the additional $50 - $60 in the build goes towards considering this is basically a recolor (sorry Jang, but it is) of previous Falcons.... certainly not prints with all of those stickers :/. I will concede and agree with you that the designers did a great job with the fold out panels for access, as one would expect with this being the 5th or w/e edition of the same Falcon from 10+ years ago.
Nothing to be cynically sorry about, I said very clearly (I think multiple times?) in this video you're responding to that this mostly a recolor of 75257, because that's an obvious fact. Inquisitor ship had 924 pieces; in other words, this one has 70% more parts including 2 more minifigs. Hardly a fair value comparison IMO even though subjectively I loved that Scythe.
