+Jkop I think that's what Jangbricks was getting at, and I agree. I'm not a fan of their concept, and don't like their lack of articulation, and something that big I really would rather build out of bricks instead of get as a giant piece. But aesthetically, they tend to be very well designed. I really like the appearance of this one, and I may get this set just for that to be honest. My favorite big fig is still Killer Croc from the Lego Batman Movie, but if I had this it would be a close second for me.

I agree. Looks like something a kid made it with spare Lego pieces and that's why it's so small and barely detailed. If I see it on sale for about $20-30 I will purchase it, but not worth the full price. Plus the door function is so wrong. In the trailer of Thor there's only one big door that slides upwards, in this set there's two doors and close together...
Not interested in the set, but i'm glad to see that they put in a hair piece for Loki in addition to the helmet. I wish they did things like that more often. And i feel the katanas of Thor are off ... they should have used the swords they have for the newer, DCEU Wonder Woman minifigs.

Jmgjgdjd5 That’s exactly what I would do, but I always think of it as Grand Moff Tarkin’s hair piece (I actually had to look up what the Captain Stacy hairpiece was and then was like, “Ohhh, you mean Tarkin’s hair”😂)
I think this set is decent, but my main problem that just keeps bugging me completely is how off grandmaster looks. He looks like super lackluster and way diffrent then he did in the movies, also would have liked to see that couch that he sits on with loki in the actual arena scene
The lack of printed legs kind of irritates me in this set, considering the exceptional printing of the torsos, especially for Loki and, to a lesser extent, the Grandmaster.
I've recently purchased this set, and the rest of the new marvel sets, and I think that the figures are very good but overall the sets are weak. it seems to me like they spent all their efforts on the batman movie sets and quickly put together the last marvel sets and maybe that's happening again with the new ninjago movie sets and this lot of sets.
I love that they went all out on the gladiator hulk. Using the solid hulk piece from 2012 instead of the newer system with the seems running all around it. It looks amazing.
This is another super hero set where the figures are better then the building itself. You're mostly buying this set for the mini figures then the actual whole building set
I always watch your reviews to know whether or not I should get the sets. These videos show off the sets really well and I hope you do more in the future. I'm getting this set tomorrow since it's my birthday. I thank you with all my heart for producing these quality videos :D
I got this set for the figures, the build was going okay until the door on the holding cell which I made a mess of. Now the back looks pretty bad. I find the bright red and blue a bit too 'comic book' for my liking but the overall layout is a great foundation to modify with enough eight stud wide plates an full arena is fun to build with space behind to build rooms for the kids to play with. I particularly like Grand Master's subtle eye shadow on the figure, not common to see these subtle make up touches on female minifigure prints so I think Lego did a good job not making a male minifig head look like a comic book style 1970's David Bowie character (may he rest in peace), this wouldn't look out of place in buidling MOC minifigures in my opinion. Finally, Jang, thank you again for all of your hard work in getting these reviews out, your opinions and observations are greatly appreciated.
Figures good, set bad. I would of preferred a $100 set with a complete arena and a few more figures, such as another guard and a couple civilians or contenders.
I can't wait to get this set it is amazing, I love the gladiator arena theme with the grand Master forceing them to fight, my only complaint is that Loki didn't get a scepter but it was taken and used for vision so it is understandable
I think I would buy this only for thor’s helmet. I’ve always wanted lego to make his original winged helmet. Was never a big fan of having a bunch of thors with just his hair.
This set seems incomplete in my opinion, not enough walls to create a decent size arena and there's nothing behind the throne of the Grandmaster, it needs more seating space there. But of course, the cost would have been much higher, but you can still buy a second set to make it larger or if you have more Lego bricks at home, you create your own much larger arena if you wanted to. Can't wait to see the movie!
Chances are, Lego designed this set to be combined with a set to be released some time in the future. An example of Lego doing this in the past is 2504 Spinjitzu Dojo, from the first wave of Ninjago sets; it had a 1 x 2 brick with a Technic port built into the left wall, and a 1 x 2 with pin built into the right wall. These parts would then connect with similar parts in 2519 Skeleton Bowling and 2254 Mountain Shrine to form a larger, more show-accurate build. The individual sets may have been somewhat lacking, but it was more appealing to buyers for Lego to release smaller, separate builds that can combine, than to release the completed build as a single, more expensive set.
This could form the base of a Geonosian Coliseum (you could add one to your City), sell one part with the balcony and one beast plus pillar and sell the rest beasts and pillars plus the walls in separated sets, that will allow for people to buy what they want. Geonosis Balcony (Poggle, Dooku, Super Battle Droids Obi Wan and Acklay); Geonosis struggle (Padme, Nute Gunray, Cat, Battle Droids, geonosians); Geonosis execution (Jango, Boba, Mace, Ani, Rex, Battle Droids). The potential is wild.
