Lei's Real Talk on China's actual GDP, Taiwan invasion plans, and fall of PLA princelings 

Lei is absolutely BRILLIANT. Her analysis, ability to explain complex issues, and breath of knowledge is NEXT LEVEL.

Taiwanese here. Lei is very right in that ROC legitimately inherited the whold of China from Qing Dynasty through the 退位詔書 by the Last Emperor himself. However, PRC/CCP has been saying (lying) that they replaced the ROC and inherited the whole of China from ROC, and as a result, Taiwan belongs to PRC. But as Lei rightfully pointed out, PRC has never replaced ROC, and thus there is no "inhetiance" to speak of, and thus Taiwan has nothing to do with PRC.

I learn so much from Lei than any mainstream news and newscasters! This is journalism at its BEST!

I always enjoy Lei's insights; though I wonder sometimes if she is on track or not. I will say she must be on to something most of the time as she has wumao in her live chat and comments regularly. If she wasn't hitting on something, why would they waste the time watching her live streams? They probably are scared that she's hitting on or close to the truth! Right now, things seem odd. The US dollar is losing value due to inflation, but it is strengthening in comparison to other currencies and commodities like gold and real estate. Because they believe it to be safer, people are going to the dollar. I'm concerned that the rising inflation may lead my $420,000 in retirement funds to lose value. Where else could we invest our money?

I find it very odd to crazy how calmly Lei says "the princelings". What a crazy way to run a huge country!

Something laid bare by the CCP's inability to handle its R/E crisis is that these recalculations of CCP GDP over the years are spot on. The CCP simply does not have a huge economy on which it can call and depend. (Of course, the first expression that this GDP-inflation is true was when Premier Li Keqiang stated flatly that 600 million PRC residents make only c USD 150 a month. As often cited, when a business pays $100 for land and $100 to dig a hole there, the West says that hole is a $200 expense, but the CCP says it's a $200 asset, and thus adds it to the GDP calculation. (CCP valuations are as insane as are its methods of calculating unemployment.) The CCP's GDP has shrunk at least the past two years, and is heading towards more, as its "anti-spying" law and rhetoric push more foreign companies away.

Per the US own IMF 2023 study publicly available, $31-trillion gdp ppp for mainland china (excluding the seven SAR regions like hong kong, macao, xinjiang, etc). And $40-trillion for greater china in total. Compared to over $25-trillion for all of USA.

I was always suspicious (and, frankly, baffled) as to why everyone in the West simply accepts China's "numbers" as reported. God knows, our experience with authoritarian and Communist countries is they ALWAYS present EVERYTHING about Communism in the best possible light (no ad press, so-to-speak, is allowed.) And now that the West (and its crucial market capital investments) have fled China, I can't see any way in which they could rival the US as the new "economic king." China is, and always has been, a NET importer of just about everything (food, energy, oil, etc.)

China isn’t the only country obsessed with GDP and development growth, Ethiopia 🇪🇹 was even ranked higher than China 🇨🇳 in the study. I have read articles of Ethiopia faking economic growth numbers and agricultural output numbers and people keep falling for them. According to the study by Martinez, the country that have actually grown significantly in the past 2 decades is Ivory Coast 🇨🇮.

The reason China's Rocket Force disappeared from the propaganda is the same reason Russia's did. The war in Ukraine taught us that hypersonic missiles are overrated. Also, the Patriot missile, the most affordable defense weapon in the West, is a very good defense against Russian hypersonic missiles. This means that China's Hypersonic missiles are vastly overestimated, and that China's entire military strategy to deter US aircraft carriers is based on a false assessment. In the meantime, the U.S. built a super radar ship called the SBX-1 to monitor China and deploy laser weapons to defend against Chinese hypersonic missiles, but now that we know that China's missile strike capability was overestimated, the people in charge of Rocket Force should be punished.

Having spent a lot of time in China, the economy is definitely worse than it appears. The business areas of China are a facade, funded by government. However, more of a concern for me is the economic situation in Taiwan because the majority of people I know there under 40 make very little money. Often their parents are home owners and retired early. The global system seems to have failed this generation, probably in part due to cheap labor from China that affects Taiwan's export economy.

I wish the interviewer would had gone into Lei’s background so I could know more about her. It goes to her own credibility and expertise. I’ve watched her channel before and she does not strike me as a knee jerk partisan who just loathes the CCP. But rather someone who is primarily interested in the truth and accurate assessments of the CCP. But I have my doubts that she has the access to credible information and sources to make some of the analysis and projections she does. But I trust her approach and assessments far more than I do Peter Zeihan whose answer to everything is that they’re not going to exit in 10 years. I’ve yet to see Lei come up with that type of ridiculous hooey.

Night light is a very bad metric for China. Most people in China do not drink and also it’s a very hard working country. People simply do not stay up late in China. It’s incredible how many go to bed quite early also. Many schools start really early in China too. Way earlier than the western world. It’s shocking when you first go to China to see the difference in culture. One thing though, it is just getting over one of the largest housing bubbles in history. This is going to have a big effect on gdp. There will be a massive crash. Many countries are going to experience a big downturn in the coming years though.

Gotta love a country that has as it's #1 policy lies and cover up. I don't care how many times Mao called it the great leap forward, it was still the great leap backward. Sure Lei, China sold 27M cars in 2022 and the US sold 13.75M in the same year. So Chinese GDP must be a small fraction of US GDP ... of course. Lei's logic.
