JenJen you are a proper legend for posting this vid. I was there, probably one of the best free parties I went to. I went to pretty much all the DIY and Spiral parties, Smoke Screen etc. I see my old friend Claire in her white spandex! Amazing times. I have to admit to still going to free parties at the young age of 47 :-)

i loved DIY sound system ..they were doing a small 500 person bespoke festival for known heads..last i remember.

Just stumbled on this. You've really captured a magic moment in time here. Peak DiY, either just before or just after Castlemorton, which changed everything. Couple of observations: 1. nothing spells free party quite like a can of special brew on top of a bass bin. 2. Jack!? I was at the free party retrospective in Bristol a few months back and saw Jack play a blinder at the after party. Magic night. Peace and love from New Zealand x

Loved it in the mornings when the kids would get up and fek wth ravers heads , I’d always walk round wth all my dogs to see the few who had stomped themselves into a little rut of mud , bless 😂 DIY early had such a bright blissful vibe tooo ✨

Cool video was at a few of the parties, around this time. Brixton allnighters? also loved Megatripolis later in time. Listening to Acid Pauli, Damian Lazarus, Rebellion and Crosstown Records , Electronica is still amazing. Keep Dancing good people!

The scene is still going in Leicester/Derby/Nottingham. Still some techno and house soundsystems, all smaller scale now though.

this looks fun its got good music playing, a good vibe and the people seem decent enough 👍 i was only like 3 years old when this was happening lol better than the crap we have nowadays

i was in the band (p.c.m. early incarnation) who set up and played couple of nummbers on the sunday boiling hot day no shade and tripping crowd who couldn't w8 4 us to get our keyboards and tech ready.

One of the best occasions I've ever been to. Still remember being invited into this beautiful caravan by this couple who were so generous with everything they had. Lovely people, lovely vibe...DiY at its best.

I'm 34 and I went to a free party under some arches in derby some years back .smokescreen soundsystem I think it was? What a night i had so many different people just grooving to some proper good quality house music! I'd love to know if any more happens?

I sneaked there. My mum and dad had driven us to my nannas farm near Melton mowbray. I was born in notts/leics but mum and dad had relocated to hull. I sneaked off on the buses to this. 😁 And a couple of days later my nanna and everyone sat round the farmhouse table with nanna saying "well, I know the landowner of those fields. They left t pretty much nicely as they found it..what exactly goes on at these raves?" And then everyone looked at me coz I'm the resident teenager but still not knowing that I went to it. I'd lied and said I was going shopping in Nottingham and catching up with old friends lmfao 😂😆😆🤣😆😂

Yeah pretty sure I was here. Although t.b.f I was at most anything that was any good between 1990 and 92 just all kinda melded into one splodgey enjoyable "party " and I guess that was how it should've been. What's that old saying if you can remember it you probably wasn't there. I shall get around to upping my videos i shot at some of these parties back in the day, some time soon. Thanks for putting this up, we weren't just imagining it were we? These were good times eh!??!
