This is before we all became obsessed with the ‘spectacle’. Nobody took photos or cared what anyone looked like - it was a total acceptance that you can’t get nowadays.
houk tanh danhi Rave cultures coming back, some of our generation realise that the 90s were better and there’s becoming a resurgence free raves I’m 15 now and I can’t wait
Well done to the film maker as this is great footage. We didn't all realise how important it was to document these times and good quality cameras weren't cheap either. It was a novelty seeing a camera at these parties. Little did we know that these videos would turn out to be a great part of history. Hope you are all doing well these days. I ended up working for the NHS after the 90s and 00s parties. Best times were always had outside in fields and forests.
I grew partied through the brainskan era and i can honestly say best best times of my life best people and wish i could go back for just one more night
@ 5:29, how he mentions the camera. It was so lovely for it to be such a novelty back then. Can't stand how everyone just films absolutely everything on their phones nowadays instead of just enjoying the moment. Phones have their uses but it was lovely to be free from them back then.
That's very true. It's nice to film some things these days and take some interesting pictures, but there's a time and a place and not all the time. I think social media and the monetisation of content and influencers are part of the problem. We never had all that back in the 90s.
Free parties like this bring back so many memories......the best memories!! Dorset free parties were the best in my opinion, they all played full on Acid Techno in the vein of Chris Liberator......Stay Up Forever, Routemaster, Cluster & Smitten tracks!! London Acid Techno stylee is my fave.....blistering, mangled & distorted 303's flying everywhere (best sound in the fucking Universe). Amazing messy times, i absolutely loved it!! 🤘🏻🤪🤘🏻
Born 83 just leaving school around the late 90s when rave became trance but still think the 90s will never be replicated the last real free generation.
This 'movie' is my favourite, great vibe from the pioneer 90's. With a secret love between the cameraperson and the redhaired girl? I wish the best for all these dancing people (now turning grey )😉
Some familiar faces there! Good times. Loved the Ridgeway, especially at dawn. Hello to anyone from Pineapple, Pod and JellyTree that remembers me! :-) Peggy xxx
Am I the only one who's envious of the outfits these ladies were wearing? Roomy, comfy, and not solely for the male gaze. Nowadays it's like the more revealing the outfit, the more makeup, the better. Human body is beautiful, but it makes me feel like i have to look sexy all the freaking time, and takes away from truly letting go. It's like I have to show off
Why does everyone look so nice and clean? When I went to Exodus raves, by 7am everyone was filthy, gurning, and looking like something from Dawn of the Dead.
I was just a 2 weeks fresh 14 on my 1st party in winter of 97. I took acid as well. That night, I will NEVER forget. Much more intense than 1st sex. I dont even remember that. But that party.. oh my fucking god!
@@HybOjMental acid and techno at 14! I took E's at 17 at Dancevalley outside Amsterdam, lifted me off my feet it was incredible Dave Clarke, Jeff mills, DJ Rush year 2000 Ended up with bad crowd and left drug scene in 2006. Hope you're doing well mate 👍
I never took drugs, only LSD :) anyway, Im fine, 40 now.. it was surprising to me, that I live so long, I had no idea what to do on this world at like 25-30 years, the big comedown. Than I found out, I have a lot of work here, the hard work. Harder than I could ever imagine it can be. But I go on, every day. @@peaceformula5830
I honestly would give anything to have been able to experience a rave like this. Born waaaaaay too late. The rave scene is still alive but will never come close to this.
Mad mate innit ,i lived literaly 2 miles from here ,from 1988 to about 2002 ,they were on around the local area more or less every weekend ,some small some bigger esp in summer ,it even got a bit boring in the end ,there still some on now ,but the scenes changed and the police are stricter
AMAIZING TIMES, LOVELY PEOPLE, Thanks for the Memories....... Q. Does this even happen anymore? Anyone? Anywhere? answers on postcards Kids! Lovit still. ❤️
Yeah, it still happens but you have to know the locations well and know the crew. At 46 now and still partial to these sort of things but nowhere near as much as I used to be when I was much younger. Good to see people are keeping the vibe going and I may well go to one in Bristol as I know some of the locations where they have them here. Needs some work to find out more on that.
Thanks for the memories and uploading - Wantage Monument, great party. Spotted a few friends from my school days in that footage. I was amazed one of the systems had a load of CRTV's running crazy fractal graphics all night. Pineapple Tribe turning up was a big draw for the free party scene in the home counties. Sure my car's in there somewhere.
Great post, capturing one of so so many wonderful sketchy mornings as it gets light & you look around and think “wow what the fuck went on ere?!?” Best days of my life…..
I especially like the guy cradling his tinny like a newborn child who shuffles over to squint at what's on the decks. Something which I often find myself doing when there's a banging tune being played, even in the age of Shazam.
Woow the vibe i get from this is much better then what you would find is todays raves. I know it sound cheesy and borring but i would love to take part in such a awesome partyyyy
There is nothing that will make you feel a thousand years old, quite like watching a video like this and looking at the cute girls in it and being struck by the harsh reality, that they are in their mid 40s and their children are older than they were in this video.
This is the era when i first started going to free parties, because there was no ID needed to get in! Then fell in love with the underground scene! The few clubs i HAD been able to blag my way into by the age of 15 were fkn brilliant, except for the bouncers who were the most 'ORRIBLE gangsters you would ever have the MISFORTUNE to come across. If they caught you smoking a joint or having a line in the toilets they would empty your wallet, take any jewellery you were wearing, take all your drugs and slap you up a bit and threaten to plant pills on you and call the police and hand you in if you dared to protest. Never happened to me, but did happen to friends of mine and i witnessed it being done to loads of people. None of that at free raves. All self regulation and everyone was all luvdup 😄😄 properly was THE BEST OF TIMES and i feel dead lucky to have been 16 in 1995 ... dont get me wrong, i had some of the best nights of my life in the Que club at ATOMIC JAM and SPACEHOPPER and HOUSE OF GOD, and at the DIGBETH INSTITUE/SANCTUARY and the DANCE FACTORY downstairs and behind the SANCTUARY. Epic nights 🌙 😎 but the free outdoor raves were and still are, fantastic times too. Watching the sun come ip to hard trance or acid techno or WHATEVER were beautiful moments, believe x
God I'm so envious. I was a year younger, but was too isolated, shy, lonely at the time to even think of going. Hope I get to relive this at its zenith in my next lifetime. Coming of age in the 90s of underground electronica and internet... the universe could not have devised it to be any more fantastic
I would be there after I raved at the bigger system, comming down from my big acid, in that vulnerable state of psychosys where u cant even speak, look insane and just need help :))
I think raves haven't changed all that much!! This is pretty similar to the things I went to just over 10 years ago. Maybe it is a bit different now that everyone has a smart phone.
I miss the 90’s so much my life is shit now the party’s ain’t the same the e,s are shit and people are taking ghb for a hot I’m old I would give anything to be there I mean I had dream last night u were There u held my hand so tight those days are gone do u rember ....
