I was beyond in love with Leif, back in the 70's as a teen. I really feel for him. I think he is a good , compassionate soul who just got in way too deep with the drugs, way too young. I've read his book and he basically was throw to the wolves at age 15 to tour the world with no one watching out for him. His mother didn't accompany him. Really, what teenage kid could handle that? ... I hope, now that he just turned 61 (11/8/61) he's doing o.k. and has someone to love and love him back.
I have compassion for him. His face begs for someone to care and to hug him. He needs to let out a lot of emotions and have a deep, long cry. I bet if he did that he would feel free of a lot of demons from his past and be able to go forward. I wish him well. The entertainment biz sucks you dry, throws drugs at you, and then messes your life up and you are stuck alone to climb out of the mess you are in. Please get healthy Leif. I pray for you. Sending you a virtual hug! The strength is inside of you!
I don't even see the pipe burn she was talking about. I thought he was fine. She said he was banned because of the drug use but if she was worried about children seeing this then she should've never talked about all the bad shit that happened to him! Keep rocking Leif!!
I always felt a sadness about him, even when he was younger. As if he was being pressured to do what was not his true calling. Drugs was a part of 'the scene' then and even though he has been through rehab there is always that chance of a relapse. I loved him then and love him now...2020!
I know right, He has been through alot it's so sad, I hope he meets a nice woman or something that he can really love and be HAPPY FOR A CHANGE... I'm surprised that she banned him from her show. Considering the actual situation, he handled himself pretty damn good. He even seemed to be genuinely very nice to her. For someone so non judgmental, she certainly poked at his sobriety on live TV quite a bit for my taste. Poor guy could've had a much worse showing.
He was not ready for the 3rd degree but he took it like someone who's accepted responsibility. None the less it must be hard answering what ever questions are throwned at him.
Wait. Leif has admitted to not being honest about certain things, even during that VH1 special...he was already back on drugs and arrested shortly after that was broadcast (3 months, I believe).
A young teen, shamelessly manipulated like a puppet by parasites whose only intention is to use them until the public shifts and they are no longer a money-earning tool. Drug use. Zero counseling on the responsible handling of income. A sadly repeating cycle.
Rosie's interview on WWHL where she said she met him back stage then 20min later, he had a burn on his face from nodding put on a drug pipe. Sad. I know he's struggled most if his life, hope he is healthy now🍎🩺😊
I absolutely love his song "Keep on Dancing" I was a child but love that song. I feel badly he was so unhappy & turned to drugs. But a lot of artists of all types created while on drugs. I wish him the best. I hope he's clean & ok today. You shouldn't judge people because you don't know what kind of pain they're in. They have to reach their rock bottom to quit or die. He wasn’t the one doing the actual singing in any of his teeny bopper albums and he was made to lip sync when he was managed by the Scotti Brothers when he went on tours. If you’ve read his book, you would know how naïve his mother was so she wasn’t able to protect her son from them. He grew up lonely and confused and did what he was told by his management. Given his sensitive and gentle personality it’s easy to see how his childhood and adolescent years would be difficult for him to navigate the predatory entertainment industry
I loved Leif and grew up with him! I knew after the accident he kinda vanished His accicent was featured as a career killer in Dec 1979 a decade in review.This bit that Rosie did made me angry!! How dare she, bring him out on the carpet,so to speak and offer help! WTF?? If she really cared about him she would have done it at her office, in her green room. Like people who pass out food during the holidays to make themselves feel better.SHE DID IT FOR HER OWN GLORIFICATION, NOT TO HELP LEIF!!!!!
Roysei, i like Rosie but I don't think she knows anything about drugs and Recovery and this shouldn't imo been her topic on WWHL.. he comes across as a very kind soul just a hurt one
@@sallyl5071 well I agree. My issue was that she announced this "help" on national TV...to make herself look kind. I don't like this behavior. If you want to do any acts of kindness then do them in private. Perhaps he would have taken her up on her offer if it had been private. My husband and I have helped many people financially. We never loan money. We will give what we can afford. We ask the recipient not to tell anyone & a one time thanks is enough...no need for an overt show of thankfulness. The money we give is not a loan. The last rule, we will only help a person out once financially. We are not rich enough to be anyones safety net. Many folks are embarrassed about tight finances ....we want to help....not exacerbate the problem. I can't imagine deeper problems like mental illness or drug use. Most people want their issues to remain private. I just think its cruel & self serving to out a persons weakness in public.
Leif Garrett had a difficult life. Someone was always trying to control his whole life. Even his sister stepped out of the spotlight. His sister played on my three sons.
It was tragic. He lost it all, his fame, his unbeatable good looks, all gone. It's sad to watch such a fall. I was shocked when I first saw the change. I was all like is this really Leif Garrett? Kind of like the ugly duckling story in reverse. Worse downfall I ever witnessed.
He was my love ever....tears what had he done ... instead beeing thankful for the blessings he had broken our heards and beliefs for him we cellebrated him as big amazing star not one he went through a gutter...that we fans don't deserve such a unthank...

And I'm not busy or preoccupid of the stars life anymore, but time to time I become after longing my idols....and when you be a star you are not the same like others not in some way . you as a star representing your fans and MUST BE OUTRAGEOUSLY, a role model if you like. His familie his guids were not good to leading them as it must be ... I know the Europians lifestyl when the cild became 18 years he must go and findhis own life ....poore child , bad guids... He was high here. Rosie said she left him in the green room, came back 20 minutes later and he had a crack pipe burn on his face. She said this on Howard Stern's radio show.
How do you know that??? Did you give him a drug screen test??? He said at the beginning he had a cold...that is why he asked Rosie for a kleenex. His eyes are watery from sneezing. I LOVED him as a girl. I had his posters on my wall too!!
The interview starts off really good. It when they start talking about the accident that he starts to nod off. I wouldn’t have know he was on heroin during this
i just want to say I LOVE LEIF! always have. If there is one famous person I would love to meet it's Leif. been a fan since forever. got his records, fan club membership and all. I was lucky enough to have seen the documentary and was so moved by the story, I had no Idea he'd gone thru so much in his life, I'd only wondered where he'd been all these years. please pass my facebook name on to him, I'd love to be his friend. petra wright leet. thanks sooo much Rosie.

I used to hate this guy, this was my era. I have been watching a few of these video interviews and I have to say Leif seems like a great dude! Just watched an old rerun of CHIPS where he temporarily moves in with Jon, great episode!!!! Funny now to hear now that his music was actually sung by other singers, so that makes him the original Milli Vanili, minus the dreads and cool dance. Anywho, and to hear Rosie say she had all of the teen boy idol posters on her wall, Haaaaaaaa, that’s is so funny, she likely had Farrah Faucets poster up on the wall!! We later find out Rosie is a man hater Klondike!!!!
I love life Garrett, but he doesn’t have a cold. He was in the dressing room getting high, and if you can see, he has a big ole red scratch down the side of his face! He allegedly was smoking his crack pipe in the dressing room when he nodded off, and the pipe cut his face. Hope he’s better these days.
It was a train wreck from the beginning. Yes, he was used by his managers - but it is not doing him any good by blaming everyone else for his drug use. So sad.
His old songs were amazing then and also now...he can add ofther sort of songs and singing the 80s too...what was his problems...too much money, too much fame, to the glory of God, covered with glory was not good for him. And what about us the fans how we feel of being our idol comming so badly down??? İsn't it important ! don't we had gotten a trauma???? OH NO Leif didn't deserve to be a singer even a fames singer at all. Let him working on the farm so he will know what he had done for himself and also to his fans....tears...
