How can you not love ABBA!? They are one of the greatest Pop acts to have ever step foot in the music world, and their music is still timeless to this day
Pete Townshend to Björn in one of their 70's concert with several top rockers in the audience:"Do you know with 'S.O.S.' you have written the greatest pop song of all time?" Björn in the 20's: "That was such a great moment for me when one of those who I had looked up to gave such feedback".
In terms of dynamic melody, modulations, movements, originality and variety - all kinds of parameters combined, I think nobody has yet surpassed or is at par with ABBA and The Beatles. My favorite ABBA bass line by Rutger is on their hardest rocking song Watch Out. Really great stuff.
I agree, "How Deep is Your Love" is one of the best pop songs ever written it's in the Top 10 of all time, I would put ABBA in there too maybe "Mamma Mia" or "S.O.S".
Love them too, they’re so great and just amazing music they made. I love metal but I love great softer rock music and abba everybody loves them no matter which genre you prefer
Love ABBA, love the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack -still have the original vinyl! I went through the disco sucks phase as well. Now I’m glad to say I can listen to Kreator one minute then Bee Gees the next. It’s all great
I was a little kid in the 70s and all I remember from ABBA was dancing Queen, I always liked it so about 20 years ago I bought a greatest hits cd so I can listen to it, play dancing Queen a few times and then played the rest of the songs and I tell you I was hooked first listen, next thing you know I'm buying all their stuff and like nearly all of it, I couldn't believe what I have been missing all these years, and yes this is coming from a rocker, but I also have a mellow side and like some Disco, pop, Motown, etc.
A lot of people like ABBA. I know they bring back great memories for me in the way only good music can do that. It's almost period piece music. Good tunes. If it's good music then it's good music just the same as Slayer or Sepultura can be good music. I like Prince and The Police too. Yeah Del Shannon and George Jones too.
Alright, Ralph, I've hidden for decades. I've always liked ABBA, right down to owing the Réunion DVD with the ABBA puppets. A documentary of sorts. There, I said it. Knockin at 60, I had to say it.
I ❤ ABBA! Yet to be honest Im sort of tired of the hits and head for the deep album cuts which were better. Richie Blackmore loved them as well. They have great melodies he said. I used to Love Frida before she got that punky pink/purple haircut. My favorite album of thiers is Voules-Vous and I Love thier music videos for 70s nostalgia sake. I wish they would do just one long 3 hour show and post it. I would gladly pay 7:56 ❤❤❤❤
Wow, Doc. If I didn't know you are such a straight shooter, I would have thought you were yanking our chains. Abba and Lemmy seem like polar opposites for sure. I'm not a pop music fan from any era except the 60's and a bit of the 70's, so I can't agree with you. Dancing Queen harmonies are good but I start to go into diabetic shock when I hear too much pop music. To each their own. Go Lemmy!
