Hi there! Love the mandala and ice cream. I have gone through several big scoops for my grandson with your tutorials for baby blankets. I like mint and gray and white also.😁💖
Wooo!! I LOVE LENS MILLS STORES! lol! Its my absolute favorite store ever!! Im in Woodstock and they do have so many good yarns and brands!! And their deals!! Woo! Lol! Im so hyped about Lens!
I love your enthusiasm, very contagious. Thank you for sharing, I love the brands and colors you got and looking forward to your video about the lovely hooks you got. God bless and stay safe
I just subscribed to your channel and you are exhilarating to watch. You have such enthusiasm when you describe yarn. When I go in a yarn store it’s like looking at all colors of candy, and I can go crazy buying all colors. Thank you for great videos! 😊
Not long ago when I used to live in Turkey, after seeing your channel and learning about Red Heart, Lion Brand, I searched for them in my country but I couldn't find except from amazon US which were so much expensive for me. So I dug deeper all our local yarn stores in the city of Ankara and finally found lots of export leftovers of Red Heart, Yarn Bee, Lion Brand, and more.. that day I found out that all these beautiful yarns are made in Turkey and exported from Turkey! Then I started to build a stash of yarns of rainbows, cakes, chunky, bulky, dk yarns as they were around 1 US dollar, sometimes even half dollar (when bought in packages) sometimes by kilogram, and like that crocheting along with your videos became much enjoyable for me :) Soon ago I moved to Mexico, and I managed to bring two jumbo luggages of yarns although I had to give away like three luggages of my stash to my friends who are into crichet and knitting too. That was sad, so sad, for me as in Mexico I tried to find different yarns in local stores (I live in a relatively rural area in Central Mexico) and I got surprised because instead of American brands, I found highly expensive Turkish brand yarns of 8-9 dollars for 100 gr (in Turkey they were 1-1.5 dollar for 100 gr say for Yarnart brand or Nako brand which is the exporter of all Lion Brand, Red Heart, hobbii lobbii as far as I know) Now, I am trying to get my yarns and different colours through amazon, which normally are 6-8 US dollars, sometimes with discount I pay 3-4 US dollars for each. I have a special budget for the yarns as it is a huge world of different textures, colours, sparkles, projects which I would like to have a chance to touch and try! Thank you for sharing your yarn haul and new crochet hook set with us!
Jayde thanks for sharing your yarn haul. Very smart to have a list ready at hand so you stay within budget. Love that you choose yarns that are readily available in the big box stores.
Omg that ice cream pink is gorgeous I love pink ,my carseat covers in my car are pink velvet & so is my steering cover,I love both of these ice cream yarns now I'm going to have to go to Hobby Lobbys or Michael 's to find them..😊😊
Hi 👋 Jayda I would have a big problem shopping 🛍 at that store 🏬 first of all I would want that shopping 🛒 second some of the yarn 🧶 You picked up I can’t find at Michele’s store 🏬 some are at wall mart but it’s not easy for me to get there and since Covid 19 My craft Store 🏬 Michele’s has low stock. You know I do have a good sized amount of 🧶 but I seem to always want more . Xoxoxo I cant help it Whenever I see yarn 🧶 in the store I end up with a big smile 😃 on my face and I get excited 😜.Thank you for the video. Mary.
The last 5 days, I have been making hats from all of those half full 100 gram skeins of yarn because I had soooo many! I also have not purchased much yarn at all in two years because I had so much to use up already. I have put together colors of yarn I would never have before in trying to use up this yarn, and they are some of the most beautiful hats I have ever made, ha ha ha ha, can you believe it.
I only buy when yarn's on sale, as much as I can carry...In my cart, piled high, and falling off. I learned my Bible well, "a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over"!
That Ice Cream yarn in Birthday Cake and Mint that you’re showing in this video’s thumbnail is gorgeous! I’m kind of glad they don’t have those shops here, as I’d spend a fortune (if I had it). That homespun waterfall is magnificent, and I love the Heartland yarns because of their tweedy look! Great minds think alike because the Cuyahoga teal color (pronounced coy-oh-gah) and the amethyst shades are my favorite of the Heartland line. The double-ended hooks are fun to work with. I have a full set from my grandmother and I have some double-ended crochet books and cro-knitting books from the 1970’s that she passed on to me. You can put a knitting needle stopper on one end and use them for standard Tunisian crochet as well.
LOVE Len's! I am in London, go to the one here often. Been to the Woodstock one a few times on the way to visit family there. Also went to the Toronto one once when I went to visit a friend who is also a crafter. So fun! Definitely the best yarn selection in Southern Ontario that I'm aware of.
If I had money that’s where I would go! There’s nothing like that here in North Dakota! We have some small craft stores, Walmart, Target and that’s about it. I’m tempted to travel up there just to get to see the experience of it!
I usually get the Lion Brand Mandala from JoAnn's when it's on sale for $3.99 or whenever Lion Brand website has a sale. Currently I have a ton of all the colors! lol Even the baby Mandalas. You have an awesome haul here, can't wait to see the video for the hooks as well.
Hi Jayda and Mr. in stitches, great yarn haul and you can really get carried away if you don't have a plan when you go in to a store like that I know I can. There is a big difference in prices Canada vs US, although the US prices have been going up alot on everything.
I’m blown away at what y’all pay for yarn. I always get my yarn on sale. So like the Mandala cakes I got those for 3.99US our Walmart here sales them every day for 6.47US. Thanks so much for sharing!!! Have a good evening!!!
I enjoy a Hobby Lobby, Michaels and JoAnn Fabrics in the Sacramento area also have independent yarn shops that are quite unique I bet you do too! So lovely to hear your voice and share projects and ideas and Yarn Hauls!!!
Hi! I'm in Sacramento area, too! I just stopped at Joann's, Michaels, AND Hobby Lobby yesterday. I held back from buying everything I wanted. My main goal was to find some ergonomic hooks that with for me (a pencil grip crocheter), but I did buy some yarn, too.
You know what bill did I played the video of her making the hearts because I cannot read a pattern until I got it in my mind you can absolutely do it all you need to do is try once you get the pattern down it’s so very easy I only wish you could see the whole thing I just don’t know how to post it I don’t have Facebook anymore because I was hacked so many times
As always 😊 I had so much fun watching this video. Those hooks look so beautiful... I want them all 😇 and the yarn too of course 🥰 Have a great weekend 💖
I used to pay $3.98-$4.99 but now Mandala are up to $5.99. I adore shawl in a ball, which costs $9.99US. Home spun is $7.99 here in the US. Ice cream yarn is $6.99US, so you did get a great deal.
Oh no I have to get a basket 🧺. I bought some Tunisian crochet hooks from Hobby lobby when they had the Yarnology 50% off. Although I haven’t tried Tunisian crochet as of now, I do plan to learn. I’ve been told you one of the best to learn from. Thanks for sharing. I hope you have a fabulous day!! 😊💚😊💚
Thank you for watching Carol 😊 If you want to learn Tunisian, definitely check out our Totally Tunisian Calendar Blanket project! ru-vid.com/group/PLU-tvdaf-FncpDno3nwuNafNZtQcDwZES
Last week I brought from Lionbrand I got Scarfie for 4.19 each, truboo for 2.27 each, Touch of Silk for 2.44 each, Go for Faux for 2.44 each they had a big sell.
Great video, Jayda. Thanks for sharing your yarn haul with us. I am a fan of Lion Brand yarn, as well. I am looking forward to the crochet hook video, and more yarn haul talks.
Thanks for sharing Jayda. I am located in Ontario and never been to Len's mill. We are getting less and less yarn in stores in Niagara region so I will add this location when I will need yarn. I just placed an order last week from Spinrite, which has a great sale on bernat super value .
Hi Johanne, we've noticed that for years the Walmarts we visit have been steadily offering less and less crafting supplies in general, I think it might be a larger trend!
Hi Jayda! Lion Brand had a great sale on their website recently. I bought 3 Mandala watercolor cakes for $6.27 for all three! I bought 1 metallic shawl in a ball for $3.49. Two Ferris Wheel cakes at $4.99 each. Lastly Go for Faux fur yarn with a hint of metallic at $2.44 each. I wish we had store like yours here in the states. It seems every year Michaels, Joann’s, and Hobby Lobby reduce their stock of yarn. Use to have six isles at Hobby Lobby now down to two. We need more warehouse type places for sure. Love your channel and your uplifting spirit. You are a great teacher and your tutorials are clear and easy to follow. Thank you💕
Hi! I wonder what they're replacing those yarn aisles with? I know crafting has trends like everything else, but what could be more important than yarn?!?!
Nice haul. Thanks for saying the American price too. I shop sales. But i am off for a trip tommorow for a meal and a little shopping trip. I am getting older tommorow. Lol
Great haul. I applaud your fortitude and strategy holding yourself back while shopping. Brava! Lion Brand 24/7 is my favorite cotton. I have made many things with it including dish cloths, pouches and pocket books and it's great for amigurumi. It also is great for wearables. Here in the states the usual price ( including on the Lion Brand site) is $4.99 U.S. It goes on sale rarely, but I love the colors. You got a good price. I look forward to all of your new makes.
Susan Bates are my absolute favorite hooks. I've bought sets of Boye, Clover, Zing, Kniters Pride ergonomic hooks, plus many off brands of ergonomic hooks, but I always go back to my Susan Bates! I think it's the inline hook that suits me best as it grabs to yarn best for me. I've been crocheting for 57 yrs and I even have 2 Susan Bates that I learned to crochet on!! How I've managed to hang on to those is beyond me cause I'm always misplacing hooks nowadays!! Loved seeing all the beautiful yarn you got! Heartland is one of my favorites. When Mandala first came out, I bought 2 of every color at Walmart here in Tennessee for $4.97 a cake! I think they're a dollar or two more now, but at first they were $4.97 and sold only at Walmart in the beginning!
I love the Susan Bates hooks as well. I'm currently on the hunt for ergonomic hooks that have the hooks that are similar to hers. I was disappointed recently when I saw Susan Bates Tunisian hooks that look more like the Boye tapered hooks, rather then her signature inline hooks.
I’ve been on a mint-&-grey kick lately. Pink is my favorite so I’m loving the pink-&-mint vibe you’ve got going on. 💕💕 Can’t wait to see what magic you’ve got planned! 🪄
Ity's a good thing there are no Len's Mills in Eastern Ontario. I would not be able to go there without spending hundreds of dollars. BTW the Comfort wool is cheaper at Walmart. Sorry. I too am a fabric collector. when I see a nice pattern of fabric I just need to buy it for my stash err I mean collection! Thank goodness Fabricland no longer has their buy two get one free yardage! Anyway I enjoyed your shopping spree. Being retired and on a more limited budget for spending I am glad not to be so tempted. Think I'll go buy a lottery ticket! tee hee Jane P.S. been watching you and Mr. Institches for a few years now. Nice to see Canadian content.
I would have to have blinders and a list. I would go crazy in a store like that. So much beautiful yarn to choose from. I love the Ice Cream yarn too. Thank you for sharing your shopping haul. 💜🙏🏻
Hi miss jayda. Will have to check out lens mills in toronto. Michaels had some yarn at 15, no thanks. Ill stick to redheart and craftsmart. Thanks for sharing. Hope you had fun shopping
Yay!! Love Lens Mills. My mother in-law lives in Stoney Creek so we always stop at the Hamilton location when we go to visit her. Also you can but a smaller selection on their website and have it shipped. Thanks again. Love your videos
Thank you, Jayda❣️ That was interesting 😊❣️ Really would like to get to those kinds of big yarn stores sometime 😍❣️ We don’t have them here. Not at least here, where I live. Can’t wait to hear more about hooks❣️
I like the Lion Brand Pound of Loveit has yardage for that pound it's a 4 weight but its a thin 4; I like the peach, mint, light pink, light blue, and a light yellow I was thinking a baby blanket; not many stores have the Red Heart 1# yarns they are usually 7oz for solid or 5oz variegated or heathers
So fun 😊😊 I think you got great deals on the cotton yarn you bought. I was just looking at buying some of the LB 24/7 cotton yarn and it was about $5 per scene, but up to $6. I think you also got a good deal on the hooks.
Thank you for sharing.I usually get Mandala from Joann’s but wait until it’s really cheap.I am in Alaska so it can vary in price.I have gotten it for 3.99 but even cheaper when I was in the lower 48.
Hi Jayda, enjoyed your haul video. I bought Mandala in colorway gnome a few weeks ago on sale for 7.19 USD regular price is 8.99 USD, so that is spot on equivalent to what you paid CAD. I'm looking forward to the crochet hooks video too. TFS. Have a good weekend. 😎 🌻
Hi Jayda and Mr. In Stitches! Waving madly! 👋👋 great haul! Love, love the Mandalas and Homeland! The colors are gorgeous!! Yarn prices are ridiculously rising here in the US I bought cotton peaches and cream and they wanted $5.49 a skein! I bought 1 with a coupon and am waiting for a sale price so I can make some kitchen wash clothes using the fallen leaves stitch! ☺️🧶❤️❤️
OMG, I think I would go crazy in that store. The mandala's and the 24/7 cotton are not available in my town. We only have Michaels and Walmart to buy yarn at and they do not carry it. The comfort yarn is 10.99 at my Walmart. I use that one a lot. My favorite of all are the ice cream yarns. I love them for baby blankets. I am anxious to see what you will make with yours
Hi Jayda! Lion Brand is one of my favorite yarn companies, too, and Ice Cream, Mandala, and Shawl in a Ball are great yarns. Another Lion Brand favorite is Ferris Wheel - I love how it works up. 💖🤗🌼
I'm loving those Christmas colors! They give me a traditional homey vibe, as opposed to the generic red and green reminiscent of shopping in a packed mall.
Hi, from the bottom of the planet in New Zealand, I just purchased yesterday 3 balls of Lion brand mandela to complete a jumper( we are heading into the cooler season down here) and it was on special at NZ 9.80 per ball (CA $8.44) it usually retails for NZ 15.00 ( CA 12.92).
I am so excited to now know about this store! There are a few locations close to where I live in Ontario and one day I will visit. I have the Knitters Pride bamboo Tunisian hook set similar to the set you bought 😊 Love them
Mandala is 5.99, shawl in ball 8.99, ice cream big scoop is 10.99( never tried small) in USA. I use alot of mandala( honeydukes is my favorite color)and bernat chennell (11.99). I think prices are pretty close for everyone. Thank you for sharing your haul.
I can get the Mandala yarn for about $5.32 in Virginia. I know Lion brand has had the shawl in a ball on sale for $5 lately. I love the Coral Community you got. I have never seen that colorway. Shoot, it would be cheaper to have someone buy yarn and mail it to you.
Nice. Now I want to make ice cream leg warmers. Looks like a great place. I like the JoAnns here. But mostly I get yarn at resale shops. Its fun. And I love to work with scrap yarn. Rarely I buy new yarn.
I used to work at Michaels here in BC (pre-pandemic), so I have a couple price points for you. Yarn was my favourite section! These prices have likely changed since I last worked there due to inflation but it’s a rough estimation based off my memory. Shawl in a ball- $11.99 Bernat handicrafter (the tiny 100 g balls)- $1.99 Ice cream (big scoop, not regular)- $11.99 Comfort (they were phasing out the everyday value program at the time so I think this was the price after that)- $14.99 (I think) Homespun- $8.99 (I think) I’m blanking on the prices of the Bernat super value and the heartland, but like I said, it’s been a few years! But those are all Canadian prices, just here on the west coast instead (and 3-4 years ago). We didn’t carry the 24/7 cotton as that wasn’t out yet (I don’t think). I’m happy to see a yarn haul video again! I haven’t been yarn shopping in ages so seeing this was super exciting ☺️
I live in australia . Lionbrand mandala full price costs $13- full price. Sometimes it is on special for $8-9 australian dollars. But i have not been able to get it cheaper than that.
You went and got some great yarns. I went to Ollies here for the first time. They had two huge tubs of yarn. If they had been on shelves I would have done more damage. Got some nice yarns though.
I need help on Number two square. I cant get it any where near 12 inches . I have used a J hook on all I have done. Furst came out 7 inches. used a bigger hook got 8 inches . I dont k ow what to do.
I SO miss shopping in store for yarn and craft supplies! I used to go to the tent sales at the Listowel outlet and was definitely breaking your buy what you can carry rule! I did tend to really limit my spending at other times of the year when I was doing that and getting the giant 32 ounce moster balls! Hopefully things will settle more and I can get back there for another one day. I love the look of that lion brand shawl in a ball... I may have to see if I can find some of that myself! :D
@@barbaraburdick9723 Thank you, that's so very kind of you to say ♡ I miss making them and chatting with people! I hope you have been taking care of yourself as well through these past few crazy years. all the best xxx
