Being a mere child at 68 myself just want to say thank you for a look at your collection and it brought back many memories of growing up and just being a kid
@@jackilynpyzocha662 For me, I was 4. I first saw it in early 1970 when it went into syndication. I was totally hooked from the first episode. Actually, the minute I saw the Jupiter II on the launchpad.
Patti Brooks I was there at the same age and totally share your sentiment! It was so fun to watch their adventures but not be too scared...just a bit sometimes but thankfully without today’s special effects. It was perfect for that time, Irwin Allen had so many good shows, Gilligan’s Island being my other favorite.
t's so wonderful to see Lost in Space cast members. The fans would love to see them rescued from space!!!! I'm talking original cast!!!!!( what's left!)
I found all the monsters absolutely terrifying!! Even though you could tell they were just some guy in a zip-up suit. I think the music really added to the fright -- it was so suspenseful.
The black and white episode monsters were the scary ones. The black and harry monster with the fangs that came out of the sand. The one in the abandoned derelict ship with the wishing helmet. How bout the one from the bog and the supernatural Mr. Nobody one.
Jonathan Harris' character was simply hilarious! Especially how bad Smith would tick off Don. I remember one time they were stranded on some planet and Smith took a shower with the last of the water supply! LOL. So funny!
I always wanted a Robot toy. Last year for my 56th birthday my daughter found one online. When I opened up the present, I got teary eye'd. Yah, being mushy LOL. I didn't even know they made LIS toys/collectables.
@Bend Me Shape Me I watched that video but forgot that bikini shot. Yowza! But Angela was also stunning. So it's a similar situation on Gilligan's Island. Yeah, Ginger was stunning, but so was Mary Ann! 😍
Part 1 was blocked of this hopefully you can see it as well Fox are very strict on their copyright laws. But will do my best to get it up in some way. Thanks for your comments much appreciated. Keep watching my channel for my mini documentaries of other classic TV shows
JonnyBaak Thanks for your efforts here. I hope they don't block this Part 2 as well.Good luck in trying to get Part 1 back up again some time. You might like to join some of the LIS fan page groups on FB, if you haven't done so already?.. cheers
Mark Goddard was so under-rated. Being 2nd banana to Guy, he rarely got the glory, but I always liked him! Also seemed to be the most fun off set! Playing pranks with Billy!
I looked forward to this show after school every afternoon. I was in the second grade, and used to get so frightened at the perils the Robertson’s faced.
At times funny. At times silly. And at times, when the script and special effects were good, it could be scary or even exciting! All in all the show will always have a place in my young heart.
There were very deep and calming thoughts produced by the stories Sort of a modern fable I had seen Space Family Robinson comics and similar stories in Boys Life It was a fantastic era
If my grammar lessons were correct, two consonants together resulted in a short vowel. So Mummy should be sounding like it’s spelled no? Need an English grammar teacher’s validation here please!
I still enjoy Lost in Space. Hulu has all three seasons of the original on. I am rewatching from beginning to end. I am about halfway through the 2nd season.
Gee as a kid in rerun the great vegetable rebellion scared me,and i hoped Dr.smith would come back to normal....i also liked the most id say was the episode where the pretty gold or silver man was Waring with the ugly frog like man, everyone thought the frog guy was the bad one,and shiny man, good till the horrifying end lol.
Lost in Space was for children say, 5-12 years old. Star Trek, was another popular show. It was for ages maybe, 13-adult. It was more complicated show , and the characters were more intense.
My favorite was the alien monkey called "Debbie" with the big ears. She was so cute. You could tell that the ears were fake and added on. In those days the props weren't the best. She would go with Penney and the others. She was part of the family.
Somewhere I read that Mark didn't get along with Jonathan, because Jonathon wanted too much of the spotlight what with his antics and all. Well... It seems like every episode was about Dr Smith trying to sabotage the mission. I know this was his character, but I think there was actual friction between the both of them. One of my first crush's was Penny. I even like Angela in 'Sound of Music'.
I have seen mark comment himself and even responding to me some years ago and he LOVES Jonathan! Now Jonathan has said that he there was an issue with he and Guy as Guy was originally the star of the show and that changed after the original pilot where there was no Dr SMith and no robot
My fave prop: the washing machine! Mrs Robinson would drop the dirty clothes into it, close the lid. After some knobs were turned, she’d wait a moment, open the lid and take out each item, washed, folded and wrapped in plastic. Where I can I get one!
As a kid, I loved the laser guns so much that......I got an engineering degree (electrical) but my whole 42 year career was spent working with lasers! I'd like to think LIS must have something to do with that!
LIS was and still is my favorite television show. Since Will and I were the same age, I would watch the show then go to bed and dream of being the one zipping through space with the Robot as my pal. Now in my 60's, I yearn for the simplicity of those days.
10:00 That was the genius of the whole show: Lost in Space was both unique, and a product of it's time. Remember: It was also the time of the original Batman Series! Outrageous kitsch, and farcical humor, is what made these shows so entertaining: With the end of this great era in Television, America has lost so much . . .lost so much. And we must never forget: Johnathan Harris is the one who, through his ad-lib technique, ushered in the whole "CAMP" concept for the show! All were great actors, but Johnathan Harris was pure, natural, acting genius. He made the show what it was, and thus kept it fresh and entertaining.
Willoughby was suppose to be an actual llama (painted purple and voiced by an actor like in Francis the Talking Mule movies or Mr. Ed the Talking Horse TV series) in the "Great Vegetable Rebellion." I don't know if it was true (or not) that this character was suppose to become a regular Jupiter 2 crew member (there was that offer by Professor Robinson to take Willoughby along with them but he declined so he could stay behind and take care of Tybo). But the concept was ditched when behavioral problems with the llama arose and it was replaced with actor James Millhollin for the episode (hence him refusing to go with the Robinsons). Credits at the end have this character listed as Willoughby the llama.
You've missed a good one, then. Best ep of Season III. An aura of dread is cast from the opening moments, as Will reads from an old book about the Shadow World. The set is a minimalist, Dali-esque nightmare of black and white; there is additional characterization for some of our old favorites, and a bitchin' fight at the end.
They tried to get more serious in season 3, but it didn't last. For every show like The Anti-Matter Man they had a show like Great Vegetable Rebeilion.
I hated Dr. Smith, and found him amusing at the same time, which is exactly what I was supposed to do, I think. Conclusion: Jonathan Harris did a brilliant job!
tempos magicos aqui no brasil sei que a equipe era fantastica e conquistou muitos fãs seria muito bom se fizessem uma nova serie com atores bons e novas historias acho que seria fantastico.
I'm convinced that "The Great Vegetable Rebellion" was inspired by Fireball XL5's "The Plant Man from Space". It was supposed to be a serious marionette drama but a little "out there"... I think the Lost in Space version was supposed to be a parody!
Lost in Space is a gem of a show. Even with the corny Scripps and fake backgrounds and weak special effects it's still a classic. Jonathan Harris will never be matched and his role is dr. Smith. He made that show. And to think they were going to kill him off after a few episodes. Marta Kristen was a super babe. Still is today. Angela Cartwright was cute too. One of the greatest acting ensembles in classic TV history. Fact that the show went from dramatic and serious two fun-loving and campy didn't seem to matter to anyone. It was still a cult hit. My two favorite episodes where trip through the robot and the antimatter man.
I saw a you tube channel that said it was the worst hour on TV. I really dont think they ever watched the show. This was one of the highest rated shows on television. Now Netflix has found a way to butcher it by rewriting the story and redesigning the Robinson family, the robot and Dr Smith. They even renamed the ship. (Which incidentally was not launched from earth). I watched it and besides the names of the characters recognized nothing. (Except Billy Mumy and Martha Kristen who appear in cameos) I guess the producers did this to try to legitimize the show. I fear what's next on their chopping block.....Voyage to the Botton of the Sea? I Dream of Genie? Hogan's Heros? Or what about The Andy Griffith Show? When will the madness end?😬
@@tonycrossley2869 I read in Jonthan Harris's bio where he was worth $ 2.5 million. However, Billy Mumy's worth is $10 million. They were pretty close in Lost in Space, so maybe it was his tribute to Harris.
Thoughts on the show: Often made me think of Gilligan's Island in space with Dr. Smith taking Gilligan's role. SUSPECTED that there was a person inside the robot....but not at all sure. Having watched the show as a child and then an adult it was a shame that the adults were forced to yield the spotlight, as it were, to Will and Dr. Smith...assisted by the robot. Penny or Judy? It's also like Gilligan's Island: Ginger or Mary Ann? Jonathan Harris, a wonderful actor, appeared in several Twilight Zone episodes before this show came along. A big fan of Bill Mumy (also in several episodes of Twilight Zone), did a good job of straddling the line between child genius and a knows everything kid. Finally, my favorite episode is when Will goes back to Earth and no one believes it is him. Admittedly an almost sci-fi cliche, but still captivating.
