I appreciate you putting out info for people but 2 things need to be clarified for future viewers. #1. Never use red thred lock. If your sight ever needs to be repaired or a battery needs to be replaced, you will find out why. Blue thred lock is what you want. #2. The reason you had issues sighting in is because you were trying to adjust your shot group over to your dot. You actually do the opposite. Move the dot to the point of impact. In your initial group, you were low and right, so you need to move the dot down, and right until it meets your point of impact. I have found that the fastest way to do this is using a sand bag. After your first group, with your shooting hand, hold the gun at original point of aim, then use a small screwdriver(so you can see around the tool) and ajust the dot until it lines up with point of impact. This will get you close very quickly assuming you hold still. Best of luck all and happy shooting.

I would recommend blue Loctite instead of red in my opinion. From my experience, blue works the best in this application because it leaves an option to remove the device easier in the event the red dot unit breaks and needs to be swapped out. I have never had blue loosen up on me.

A little “hate” on here for Lenny, but y’all need to give that a rest. Lenny is being deliberately slow and meticulous with this so that anyone at any knowledge level can understand the process. Yes... it’s like watching paint dry to you high-speed operators, but why did you even click on a 20 minute video on installing an optic in the first place? You already know this stuff! Lenny, nicely done. I even like the fact that you click/adjust in the wrong direction once. Heck, that’s a mistake that many folks would make. Well, not the afore mentioned high-speed operators of course... :-)

With iron sights you adjust the blade (rear sight) in the direction to where you want your groups. If you hit low to the right, you adjust the blade up and to the left; thus the barrel will point higher and more to the left, with the same sight picture. I don't know but suppose that the "Up" and "Right" on the Holosun 507C dictates the direction of impact, if adjusted accordingly (as is the case with Aimpoint red dot sights).
@TheSuburban15
@TheSuburban15 6 лет назад
Correct. Turn the screw "up" to move point of impact up on the target, or "right" to move point of impact to the right. This will be the case for just about all modern scopes and red dot sights, but there may be some odd-ball exceptions.

I had tried a few red dot sights and gave up on them. I have astigmatism in my eyes even with prescription eyeglass the red dot always appears as a comet or a flare no matter how expensive the red dot sight was. Also, sticking a bulky thingy on a pistol just doesn't seem right so I am still an iron-sight shooter for over 40 years.

The 1st group is the best causing the min parallax position is there.This kind of reflex sights by moving the light sources against the glasses to complete E/W adjustments get the same problem. One will understand better by 200y or longer rifle shootings. It’s hard to hit the target paper even. Try to compare it with Sightmark Mspec that has a different E/W system to keep the sight always at the min parallax .

That just doesn't feel right with me. I've spend hours of dry fire and $1000.00s dollars on ammo and loosing the rear sight just doesn't set right with me. Even tho my 71 year old eyes are finding it getting harder and harder to see my front sight, even HiVis sights like truglow TFX Pros. Hi lenny, great video as always, but I think you are going to ruin the sight if you ever have to take it off if it is malfunctioning or to change the battery because of the red loctite. If you have to remove red loctite as you know you have to heat it severely and I feel that might ruin the electronics in the sight. When I purchase mine I will be using blue loctite just in case of a problem. Keep up the great videos.

@@mikehoncho806I focus on target with my irons and I can hit 100 yards easily. With my red dot? Definite target focus as that's how they are designed. Focusing on the dot defeats the purpose of one. A red dot is for fast target acquisition. You look at the target then just bring the dot up into view. Having both eyes open is also key to this as it makes the optic body go opaque/see through, due to binocular vision. Fun fact. You can shoot a red dot accurately with the front cover blocking it. Assuming you have two eyes of course. Before you claim someone else needs training, why don't you do a fact check?

Question on correct sight picture. I have been told the correct sight picture for Glock handgun is placing the front sight dot just 'below' the desired aim/impact point. The reason....it allows the shooter to see, have a clear view of, the desired aim/impact point, i.e., the aim/impact point is not blocked/obscured by the front sight. Is that correct? Comments please. Great video. I want a red dot optic sight.
@jakedunning9995
@jakedunning9995 5 лет назад
Well really, where the point of aim is located relative to the point of impact is mostly personal preference.....but you are correct, zeroing a handgun optic for a slight 6 o'clock hold is good because you don't have the dot obscuring your vision of the bullet impact zone. It's the same reason you zero an optic with a chevron reticle to just above the tip of the chevron point, so instead of a 1-3 inch area being covered by a dot where the rounds will impact, basically you have a point of aim that is the size of the bullet itself; this is what people mean when they say a chevron reticle has a "0 MOA" or "infinity" sized point of aim. ( I hope that made sense, and this doesn't only apply to RDS optics....irons as well )

I'm an old fart of 70, never even looked through a red dot and I'm not ashamed to admit I'm confused. I hope someone can help me understand. I just bought the taurus gx4 toro and a holosun 407k x2. After mounting it I looked through my iron sights and when I was right on target with the iron sights the red dot was near the far right side of the optic. So, I tried to turn the windage adjustment left to bring the dot over to the left to align over my iron sights. However, the holosun windage adjustment was already turned left as far as it would go. I didnt have any "to the left" adjustment remaining. I figured the optic was defective. But just for the hell of it, before sending it back, I turned the windage adjustment to the right, which of course had full adjustment available. Well as I adjusted right, the dot came into match my iron sights to the LEFT???🥴 what the hell? Now in line vertically with my iron sight picture, I wanted to bring the red dot down a little to be sitting about midway on my front sight. To bring it down a little I ended up having to turn the elevation screw UPWARD? What in the world is going on? Thank you to any and all who could help shed some understanding to this old guy! 🤪
