If the laptop has current 4gb ram, will there be no incompatibility issues if a 16gb ram is inserted in the slot?

@@uFixTekthank you for the video! Does that mean we can only use 1 extra ram slot to upgrade, and the included built-in 4gb ram in the laptop cannot be replaced (cause it's soldered)? Also if the onboard 4gb ram is irreplaceable, since the laptop has current 4gb ram, will there be no incompatibility issues if a 16gb ram is inserted in the slot? Tysm!

Hello thanks for the awesome and timely video. I'm looking to upgrade my ram and this is the same exact laptop that i have but its the i3 one. When I ran wimc it says I can have only upto 12gb memory. I'm assuming the 4gb is from the integrated one the other 8gb would be from the ram slot. My question is would it work if i used the 16gb ones instead of 8 or am I locked into just using 8gb ram stick? Thanks man

Regarding your question, if the CMD said that you can have max 12 GB that is very rare double check, if so then you can only place an 8GB stick , if you place a 16gb in there , the windows will show total: 20Gb (usable 12GB) therefor you will just have ram sitting there and not be able to use. Hi thanks for awesome video, i do have a s145 i7 intel 8th laptop. But i would like to know that: How much ram can be inserted ( is it 16gb ram ) ? Is it still a blank HDD slot ( and how much of memory can be inserted ) ? And the 512gb SSD can be replace by 1 Tb or 2 Tb of another SSD ? Thank you very much !

yes you can place 2TB HDD in the sata or up to 4tb ssd, and in the nvme up to 4tb ssd

@@uFixTek the 8 small brackets need to be pried to the side, which is counterintuitive as it seems you will destroy it. but it is only a metal cover. didn't unplug CMOS or battery. added 16 GB. what are processor upgrade options? thank you.

Regarding your question, you can but the motherboard will auto adjust the 3200 back to 266 or the compatible ram speed that the bios can handle. this bios is not advanced bios to have the XMP option. If the RAM on board is DDR4-2133 MHz. Must I upgrade to the same MHz? For example mine is RAM 4GB DDR4-2133 MHz, want to upgrade to 8GB. Then I need to replace with RAM 8GB DDR4-2133 MHz too? Or the MHz doesn't matter?

@@uFixTek Hey, thanks for getting back to me. The model you suggested isn't available in my country (I live in India). But I've been doing my own research and have come across models that might work, I'd like your thoughts on this. The Crucial site's testing tool showed me that this stick is compatible: CT16G4SFRA266. I came across a Kingston Fury Impact: KF426S15IB1/16, and I know this one is meant for gaming and I highly doubt my CPU supports XMP, but would it work and is it worth it to buy? Will either of the two sticks be fine to use?

it will work fine any of them, your mobo doesn't have xmp but it will auto adjust the ram. go with CT16G4SFRA266 i would say.

@@uFixTek Okay. I forgot to mention that I did go to the lenovo service center and they offered a Kingston DDR4 2400MHz but it's double the price of the Crucial stick I mentioned. Can I still go ahead with the Crucial stick? Couple more question as well, is there any huge difference between 2666MHz models vs the other MHz models? Also, everything is discounted right now, but the 2400MHz models still sit at way higher prices compared to the rest and didn't understand why. Is there a reason for the high prices?

I have this laptop with no sodered ram. I replaced a 4gb 2400mhz stick with a 16gb 3200mhz stick. System detects 16gb but the frequency is only 2400mzh. How do I change that so it's 3200mhz? This is the only ram installed in system so there is no other one to slow it down. (There is no ram speed change possibility in bios.)

🫠Regarding your question, you can't change that, the ram speed is auto set by BIOS, your ram can go up to 3200 but the motherboard can handle 2400mhz. you don't have advanced BIOS to be able to enable XMP, that is only can be done on PC computers. cheers🍻

Never touch the Motherboard or another component with the unscrew if the battery it's plugged!

yes never touch with metal screw driver other components when battery is connected, but touching with bare hands will not cause any issue. but if you careful you can unscrew any screw without any problem. thank you for the feedback.
