You can use the trackpads outside the desktop mode in game mode. To do so hold down the steam button to the left and move the right trackpads. Yw

Can you do a dedicated emulation video? Especially with RPCS3 with the Uncharted games and Twisted Metal 2012?

One thing you didn’t mention is places to buy and ability to have hands on. Legion having the ability to go to a micro center or Best Buy and checking it out, possible open box deals more frequent then stream deck deal or refurbished.

I've been on the fence about trading my Steam Deck for the Legion Go. I love my Deck but hate how it struggles to run some games smoothly. Still in the fence about spending the money or waiting till the next generation.

Nice video. I like the part about the touchpad. That is why I'll stay with my SD, I play strategies/crpgs on touchpad there for hours and it feels comfy on SD. I cannot imagine doing that with the touchpad placed in the lower corner on even heavier machine. Seems like that touchpad on Lenovo is not meant for that.

I was happy about the Legion Go... I love my Legion laptop, and I love my Steam Deck. All other handhelds have been a no-go because I need that trackpad. I used a friends Legion Go though, and its just very uncomfortable in my hands and harder to use the controllers for me... I couldn't really use the Legion well. I love the Legion has a lot faster APU... but everything else is better with the Steam Deck for me. I may upgrade my Steam Deck to a Steam Deck OLED here soon.

All 3 major PC handhelds is quite different from each other, making the choice hard. I bought Lenovo Lenovo Go for several reasons and i love the huge screen and controllers.

I don't know why the windows handhelds don't use a shell replacement that loads up explorer on exit or when minimised on the out of the box setup. I assume its to do with windows being used for regional settings and general windows setup on first launch, but after the software loads, you would think it would set it as the default shell so you would not see windows until you load the desktop. It would go a long way to making it seem like a handheld console with windows rather than a windows tablet for gaming. Its what I do for my arcade cabinet, though I do have to do a win+r to run explorer if I need it, but it makes the whole arcade cabinet experience more seamless rather than a windows PC in a big case with a built in screen that runs emulators.

I have both as well, and yeah it comes down to use case. If i just want a console, plug and play experience, steam deck. If I want a more compatible and capable device, legion go. Steam Deck OLED kind of kicks the Legion Go where it hurts with the vastly improved screen, but still have the same possible compatibility issues. Also with game pass, a windows device is more or less needed, unless you get the cloud gaming tier of service. Both have their use cases, and be happy with what you're happy with :D.

The stiffness of the stick has nothing to do with hall effect or not but with the springs the stick uses. I have hall effect sticks in my Deck, and there is literally no difference in stiffness compared to the default ones, you can notice them however because the dead zone is way lower almost instant move!

I've had my sights set on the legion go since it's been announced. But now with the oled steam deck coming out I'm having second thoughts...

You can put 'Wallpaper Engine' on the GO.... that would make it look amazing vs the steam deck in desktop mode. All that said... I'm going with the SD OLED refresh over the GO. Thanks for your video. I wish you had the OLED as it has better speakers and other internals as well (just for your own enjoyment)... but even OG Deck vs GO, I pick the Deck. (I also trust valve to better the device way more than lenovo will theirs)

If Legion go was oled, there would have been no competitors I wish mk2 is equipped with it (May not since it may share same screen with y700)

You could literally only play steam games with the steam deck and you can play both on the Lenovo thats such an advantage. It just overshadows everything else.

So hard to pick between these two. For me it comes down to this. Windows is so clunky on a handheld. But the Steam Deck has issues playing things outside of Steam. The Go can be a tablet, that's huge IMO. But at it's price, I'd say a laptop is a better buy. Tough. If you wanna just do games, its hard to argue against the SD. The GO is a gorgeous piece of kit. But windows is so rough on a device like that. Gen 2 of both of these should be amazing.

Does your Legion Go have issues reading SD cards? I keep hearing about people with defective Legion Go devices that can't read sd cards.

I love my Steam Deck. It realy represent a handheld gaming in justice way. No need worry about Update system, Sleep mode is soo right, Menu is simple. And because this is a handheld, i no worry about the performance. As long i can play a game with stable frame rate, im in. Some people is concern about not all game can install in SteamOS linux, but for me this is like Switch. The handheld to enjoy when i go outside. Not for competitive. Play when waiting my wife in groceries, then just click Power button to Sleep mode instantly when she finish. Just like that. Sometime i use it as desktop Mode dock using JSAUX and turn it on almost nonstop all day. 1 Year doing that with my Steam Deck and the battery life still good. Love Steam Deck. PS: Maybe i will buy Windows 11 handheld system if another company also make it (like MSI maybe) so we have a lot of choice. And i hope Microsoft consider make Windows Mobile Edition for Handheld System like Legion Go.

I think the steamdeck has the absolute perfect controller layout and 2 very usefull touchpads for gameplay. But the legion go for me personally is superior based off being windows and having detachable controllers. Its very nice to sit back and play that way.

Plus Valve make an effort to study and listen to what the consumer and community wants. They delay on the release of the 1st steam deck just to iron some of the problem they encounter. They not just release it just to sell and made money. Look at them now. Average consumer love the steam deck, because its cheap yet the quality is one of the best. Yes it has some flaws but they learn and listen. Now Steam Deck OLED is born and thats not the STEAM DECK 2. Just some minor adjustment that lacking on the consule. imagine what the specs of the future steam deck 2 will have.

I definitely dont know how both items work hands-on. But the lenovo legion go looks more promising

Most games that I'd want to play handheld are on the EGS because I got them for free or heavily discounted. Windows + Lenovo is just more versatile. Also, the kickstand for using it as a small tablet is just *chef's kiss*

Btw the steam deck is also a portrait display with no vrr. So the legion go's screen is superior to the steamdeck's screen in literally every way. However, the asus rog and legion go trade blows.

Ok, my comments as I also own both, however the steamdeck is on ebay. first off your initial comment is wrong as to them being different devices. They are both handheld devices for gaming. Are they different, yes, the two main differences are processor strength and size of the screen. After that it is personal preference and $. For now the steamdeck is more comfortable to hold, and the steamdeck software is much better. Other than that the larger screen on the Go blows the SD out of the water as does the processor speed. If you cannot afford the GO then get the SD you will like it. I did but the screen size was the main issue for me as games like Cyberpunk that have text dialog options which are hard to read on the SD screen

Why compairing the Legion Go to the Steam Deck LCD. Match it with the new Steam Deck OLED. Them lets see if Legion will crap it self.

The legion GO has a more performant APU, and a cool gimmick with the controllers. Everything else, is better on the deck OLED. The legion has no battery life to speak of, I'm not sure how Im supposed to use that on the go. Its called Legion GO, 50 minutes is not much, especially with the arduous bootup sequence every single time. It's heavy, and the sharp corners on the side hurt my hand. If I have to be wired to the power, what is the point? Its basically a laptop in the formfactor of a handheld. I think Windows is cool if you want to play certain games that don't play on the deck, but why wouldn't I just play that on a desktop? For $700, you can make a significantly better desktop, and it would be modular meaning upgrade path is cheaper. I dont entirely understand who the Ally or Legion GO are made for? Are they made for people who actually want a handheld? Or are they made for people who want to say "My handheld is better than yours", because the latter is what it feels like. If I cant even get 1 hour of battery life on cyberpunk, then why do I care if it runs at 10 fps more? If I have to haul battery packs, what is even the point? I do not believe the removeable controllers will withstand drops very much, a solid body would make for more longevity. In addition, I don't expect these products will recieve years of software support, I suspect they'll be abandoned when the next revision comes to market. If I can stream my desktop to my steamdeck, I can't help but feel like my Asus Ally and Legion GO are redundant.

touchpad is not major benefit tbh , 1 touchpad is fine , steamdeck even the oled version is already obsolete as they cant run modern games..
